“You can't go wrong with Playa Caracas (Red Beach). Ten minutes by car and a world away... beautiful beaches, a few pit toilets (nothing fancy, but who needs fancy at the beach). If you arrive early you might even snag a picnic shelter with a table. A wonderful place to spend the day, and plenty of free parking!”

“This calm oasis on the main strip of Esperanza serves possibly the best food on the island. The prices are higher than most, but well worth it. Great local seafood, fantastic cocktails and inventive, flavorful cooking make this a standout. Vegetarian dishes are standouts as well.”

“Happy hour drink specials that are fabulous like a watermelon margarita-and not watered down. Fish tacos or any of their tacos are great and if you are lucky to arrive on the day they have oysters on the half shell from New England you know you have scored.”

“It's a little bit of a walk through mostly picturesque jungle-like setting to this beautiful black sand beach. Great for swimming and its dramatic sand and bluffs, it gets crowded, so plan to visit early or in the later afternoon for a more serene visit.”

“This is my all time favorite restaurant and not just because the helm is commanded by a woman chef!. Mahi bites and salads for lunch that are spectacular. Excellent dinners with oceanside dining. And who can ever thank them enough for the 100's of meals they provided for free during the aftermath of the hurricanes in 2017! If the namesake drink is available definitely order a Bili”

“El Blok is a newer modern boutique hotel in Vieques located in Esperanza. They have an upscale dinner menu and are a great option for a more upscale dinner - but our favorite reasons to visit are 1) the Sunday evening sunset happy hour on the rooftop bar with the best sunset views in Vieques, and 2) the downstairs bar - which has the best craft cocktails on the island.”
