“From the town centre you follow the gravel path alongside Vangsvatnet lake towards Prestegardsmoen. Cross the bridge over the river Vosso at the end of Prestegardsmoen. Turn right after the bridge and follow Russarvegen road along the river. The road is marked all the way to Bordalsgjelet. Bordalsgjelet is a spectacular natural attraction within walking distance from the town centre. The deep and imposing Bordalsgjelet has been adapted for the visiting public with an information board, a viewpoint and benches for resting tired legs. When the ground isn’t hidden by snow it is possible to follow a purposely-built path that guides you to the gorge. Here you can experience an impressive view of the potholes that have been formed by the ice and river over a period of many thousands of years. Always remember to keep to the marked trails for your own safety! After visiting the gorge, return to your car. It is probably time to head home to Sofias house.”

Lønahorgi Our trip begins with a choice of starting points between Bavallen and Voss Folk Museum. Voss Folk Museum is within walking distance from Voss town centre while Bavallen in the Voss Resort can be reached by road. From Voss Folk Museum: The first part from the museum takes you up a relatively steep foothpath to the Hanguren restaurant, 660 masl., marked with a T. Continue on the marked path hrough Hanguren on the left-hand side of Valbergstjørni until you eventually meet the road from Bavallen. After following this road for a short distance you will be given the choice of continuing along the road or taking the T-route to the trail crossing at Vådalseggi. From Bavallen: The hike starts from the parking area at Bavallen. Follow the road until you see the T-route, marked Nyestølen, then continue along this until you come to the trail crossing at Vådalseggi. The trails from Hanguren and Bavallen meet at Vådalseggi. Follow the road from here to Kvilehytta and then take the T-route to the summit of Lønahorgi. Comments: Tourist Association route (T) from Bavallen to Hanguren. The trail is marked during the summer months. However, extensive local knowledge of the area is necessary when travelling in the winter season. The trail to Lønahorgi is long and covers high mountainous terrain where the weather can change suddenly. You must therefore take precautions and carry a map and compass with you at all times.”
