“McLaren Falls is 10 minutes away from Seventh Heaven. You are in for a treat with many things to do, so here we go... Marshalls Animal Park is in the park with a range of domestic and exotic animals, super for children to see. Phone 07 543 1099. Falls Cafe is located by the information centre. Phone 07 543 4976. Beautiful walking tracks and walkways so have your camera ready. Trout fishing happens all year-round in Lake McLaren and in the Ruahihi Canal. You need a fishing licence prior to visiting the park which can purchased from some sports shops or online through Fish and Game New Zealand. Licences are not available to purchase from McLaren Falls Park. Wairoa River and McLaren Falls activities On the Wairoa river near Tauranga you can enjoy kayaking, rafting, fishing, running and setting up for a picnic. White water for kayakers and rafters is regularly released from McLaren Falls dam during warm months . I have done this and strongly recommend it for adrenalin junkies!”

“There are two options for walking in The Redwoods. Walk the Redwoods Grove or other longer Whakarewarewa Forest walks on the ground. Check out the options in the Redwoods Visitors Centre. The Redwoods treewalk gives a viewpoint from up the trees. This option is particularly spectacular at night, with its atmospheric lighting. I recommend getting there either before dark or late to avoid the crowds. Last entry is around 10pm.”

Hot Spring
“Guests tend to fly into Auckland from overseas, visit Waitomo, stay a night here at the housewithnonails and attend the Hobbiton Banquet.Next day they head to Rotorua. We always recommend the Polynesian Spa experience, because of its amazing geothermal hot springs and therapies. Historically it is New Zealands original iconic geothermal bathing experience, accessing both acidic and alkaline natural mineral springs. Soak in the world famous springs built on the site of historic bath houses for which the city became famous in the 1800s. These ancient springs ease aching muscles and the alkaline waters rejuvenate skin, increasing immunity and energy levels. Think geothermal mud body wraps, coconut oil massages, scalp massages and facials. Infact it is promised that the silica waters will bless you with ageless beauty. The crowning experience is to bath in a hot geothermal pool beneath a starry sky . 073481328”

“This thermal park has great walks and mountain bike tracks as well as the natural hot pools. The pools have recently been upgraded and there are lockers available as well as a container type cafe available. Do use the lockers provided as this area is a spot where lots of things have been reported stolen. This is a cool little spot to experience the natural hot water pools.”

“This is a park in the centre of Rotorua. It's a great place to see some thermal activity at no cost. There's even the opportunity to soak your feet in a thermal pool. On Saturday mornings there's a market also, held by the playground.”
