Places to stay in Warborough
Our Shepherds Hut nestles into it's own space just next to the house, it has an ensuite shower etc, double bed and gorgeous west facing country views. Only a five minute walk from the centre of the village it is a haven of peace and tranquility. Please note we have a 2 night minimum stay for single occupancy.
The Shepherds hut is equipped with everything you need to make your stay great, There is a fully stocked hospitality tray with a range of teas, coffees and fresh milk and home made biscuits. The shower has been praised as "the best this holiday" In the morning come over to the conservatory to enjoy a delicious breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. To follow, a choice of the full English breakfast, including our own hen's eggs cooked however you like them and toasted home made bread. The hut is really well insulated with sheep's wool keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter, however you are welcome to fire up the wood burning stove if you wanted it a bit warmer. There is no TV but free fast WiFi in the Shepherds hut and the conservatory.
Brightwell cum Sotwell is probably one of the most attractive villages in the area, the main road by passes the village so there is not a lot of traffic, it is a lovely place to wander around on a pleasant evening as there is such a range of lovely houses and gardens to admire. The traditional, thatched village pub is a great place to stop off, the food and beer are both great. The villagers are very friendly and there is a lot going on. Most weekends there is some event be it a village quiz, talent show, summer fete, and we have a live music festival once a year, Many of our guests have enjoyed one of these events and have loved feeling like a 'local'.
  • Su h a lovely stay in the Shepherd's Hut. Sue and Bob were lovely and put on a fab breakfast. A spot of serenity away from the hubbub

  • Bob and Sue were SUCH lovely hosts. We can’t say enough about the beautiful gardens, amazing breakfast, and cute hut. Would highly recommend!

    Laura2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This “hut” is far better appointed than most shepherds would ever dream of. Space is necessarily limited, but we found it very comfortable, especially in conjunction with the open walled sitting “room” just behind. It is an extremely tranquil location, and the hut is well removed from the owners’ house. It is set within a beautiful wild flower garden, looking directly over a field fringed with woodland. The owners are very hospitable, striking just the right balance between being friendly and leaving guests to their own devices. The homemade breakfasts are exceptional. The shower and the electric heater (we didn’t try the wood burning stove in May) are both good; the bed is very comfortable and there is good quality linen. Be aware that the curtains are rather thin, though the owners helpfully provide eye masks.

  • Sue was awesome! Id recommend her place and this village to anyone. Great breakfast. Amazing location. Her garden is gorgeous.

    Marisa2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hut and views far exceeded our expectations. The hut is a serene and beautifully compact space - and the log burner in action was amazing. (I'd recommend you don't put too much wood in.) The hospitality was fantastic - Sue and Bob were incredibly welcoming while allowing us to completely enjoy this little slice of heaven as if it were own. My daughter, (aged 6) was blown away by the wildlife - none more so than the live footage of the blue tit chicks being fed by their busy parents.

  • We had an idyllic weekend relaxing in the Shepherds hut. As soon as we arrived we fell in love with the beautiful surroundings and cosy Shepherds hut, which was equipped with everything that we needed. Breakfast was delicious, especially whilst watching the deer skip through the fields opposite. A completly faultless accommodation. Thank you for having us Sue.

    Tom2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Totally faultless experience. Best Airbnb we’ve ever experienced. Such a relaxing way to spend a few days in a unique setting. The breakfast each morning is such a fantastic touch. And sitting outside each evening admiring the view was spectacular. Definitely recommend. Thanks so much for having us

    Vanessa2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepard’s hut is quaint but modern. Dreamy but practical (fantastic shower!) Extremely warm (I visited in March) and it is the extra special touches that Endear you to this property. I was a solo traveller and felt extremely safe. Sit in bed and watch nature at its best! There is also a log burner that I didn’t need to use. I’m sure this is wonderful when up and running! I will definitely visit again.....

Your own self contained Annexe in beautiful garden with pool & hot tub, parking on driveway, and 15 minutes from Oxford. + amazing restaurants nearby... Open plan setting with tea/coffee facilities. Complimentary Continental breakfast included in price. Friendly host will help you with your plans whilst you are in Oxford, families welcome, girlie weekends, lads nights out, business travellers, solo adventurers, or romantic weekend away. Swimming pool and hot tub available for small concession.
We are very lucky to have a beautiful garden which recently came 2nd in the Oxford in Bloom completion for Best kept Large garden, so we are happy to share this with you, along with Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi (see notes). Not many places in Oxford where you can have breakfast by the pool on finer days 🌞 !!
My house and Annexe are lovely and quiet, but all around is buzzing, shops over the road including the very popular TKMax, Fashion Shops, fresh bakery and food shops. There are buses outside to this University city centre, with many choices of Museums, places of historic interest, and shops including the fabulous Covered Market. Enjoy the newly built Westgate shopping centre with many trendy restaurants on its rooftop... But just around the corner from here, we have the rural beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, Blenheim Palace a short distance away All the reasons I love it here, I come from Amsterdam, so reminds me a little of home, with all the bikes, the students and the bourgeois restaurants.....enjoy !! .....
  • A really nice space, spotlessly clean and comfy. The hot tub is great fun and Madeline was a lovely host. We hope to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the beautiful garden and pool!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • High class accommodation with a friendly host; useful power plugs for travellers, very clean and private, very stylish.

    Oli2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Madeline's place was amazing from start to finish. 4 ladies and a baby had a special catch up in both the apartment and the hot tub. Everything we needed was there and I we needed anything else this would have easily been provided. Breakfast (including rocket fuel but delicious Dutch coffee) was the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back and would live to see the difference that Summer makes to the stay.

    Josie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in Madeline’s place for New Years Eve, the hot tub and the breakfast was a lovely touch! Thank you for being so lovely and friendly - we will be back 😊

    Lucy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Read the full ad - if you want the hot tub make sure to let Madeline know in advance! This is a really lovely garden house on a quiet road. Madeline was very friendly and helpful, and accommodated us at short notice. We only stayed one night, but it seemed to be somewhere you would be better off staying for a few days! The bed is a fold-down affair, which makes it quite noisy just to sit on, but it's very comfortable and the whole place is beautifully furnished. Breakfast was lovely too, and certainly consider a longer trip at a warmer time of year!

    Andreas2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and homely space with thoughtful touches from Madeline, who is a lovely host. Hot tub was a highlight, and delicious breakfast next morning. Hard to fault! Will definitely be staying again in the summer.

    Alice2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly welcome and a relaxing hot tob

    Ali2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect from start to finish. Brilliant and easy check in with everything explained and simple to follow. Beautiful and trendy accommodation with outside space to die for. Comfy beds and added extras really made our trip. Continental breakfast with the worlds best Dutch coffee (plus extra!!!!) was the icing on a perfect host and accommodation. Super kind host who really made a difference to us....Madeline is a real gem. Will definitely return and can’t wait to do so

Look out over gardens, Oxford's famous dreaming spires, and across the Thames Valley from the balcony. Designed by an award-winning architect, this bright, airy loft is on the top floor of a quiet Victorian terrace, and features original artwork.
The space is compact, but is set out to provide all you need for a comfortable stay. It is clean, light and airy. The view from the window, with its small balcony, is peaceful and rural and stretches over the trees in the neighbouring gardens, across the river valley to the more distant hills. There is one main room and a shower room, with imaginative use of space. There is original artwork and simple but tasteful decor.
This is a quiet residential neighbourhood area, with several traditional pubs and cafes close by. Walk along the Thames to reach the city centre, or catch one of the frequent buses. Stroll in the nearby University of Oxford Botanic Garden.
  • We had a big great time by Lucy. She is very kind and helpful. She has cared about a mini breakfast, tea, Coffee. The studio is amazing, modern, and charming. I recommend for every one who wants to live an amazing apartmant for maybe one night. Thank you everything.

  • Lovely apartment for two. Has everything you could need with easy access to Oxford. Lucy is a brilliant host who was welcoming and friendly.

    Matthew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy is a wonderful host. There was a storm on the day of my arrival and she communicated closely just to make sure that everything is fine when I got there. The place is stylish and sparkling clean, with everything you’d need, including fine details such as butter in the fridge to make you feel home. Highly recommended.

    Gloria2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend staying in this beautiful apartment! The loft is bright, comfortable and stylishly decorated, and the location is perfect to enjoy a short walk down the river into town. Lucy was very kind and helpful. The little additions of fresh coffee, milk and bread left for us made us feel right at home :-)

    Catherine2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, would recommend

    Tom2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect bolt hole for a weekend getaway. My partner Phillip and I stayed at Lucy’s lovely loft for two nights - but wish we could have stayed longer! The area is well located, without being overly busy as in the centre. There are great pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as the river. The loft itself is fabulous - you have everything you need. The space is so well considered in that everything fits together and work seamlessly. Lucy is a fantastic host who was warm, welcoming and communicative. She had lots of recommendations and was on hand if we needed. Couldn’t recommend staying here more - you are lucky if you get the chance!

    Briony2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • My favorite AirBnB ever!! Lucy was so accommodating and the place was just beautiful. There was so many things to do in walking distance and she gave us her personal recommendations for food/touring! 10/10 would stay here again

I wanted to create a space to the same specifications as my home in Central Oxford. This was a long and tiring project but it was totally worth the stress. Everything in the space is brand new. It really is a gorgeous flat. The garden is nearly complete, I will add a BBQ in a few weeks. I love hosting people and it would be a pleasure to have you stay at my flat.
The flat is a period property that has been fully refurbished to a high standard. I have installed a new kitchen with ceramic hobs, underfloor heating in the kitchen and living space, central heating in the bedroom and a traditional but new bathroom suite. The flat also comes with a large garden that can be accessed from the bedroom.
The Cowley area of Oxford is by far the best place to hang out! The flat is located close to all of the cool bars and restaurants of Oxford. It is also only 5 mins away from the High Street. Christ Church meadow and Magdalen bridge (punting) are a short walk away.
  • Great location close to City centre, clean and stylish space, good amenities and nice and warm. We had a great time. Andrew.

    Andrew2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quaint spot. It was a perfect location for me and my travel companion. The house was clean, trendy and home-y. Great spot!

  • Billy’s AirBnB is a superb space to stay in for a weekend away in Oxford. A short walk into town with lots of great restaurants nearby I would recommend it to anyone I know. Very well furnished and beautifully kept.

    Ruaidhri2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Billy is a great host. Really responsive to questions. The flat is pristine and less than 20 mins walk to centre of Oxford. The Gatwick to Oxford coach super easy and way less hassle than driving/parking. Highly recommend a stay here.

  • Had a lovely stay at the flat. The modern and stylish space was perfect for what we needed for 2 nights. Easily walkable into central Oxford. Just be aware parking is tricky but there are spaces around. Overall great stay, would highly recommend.

  • The apartment was perfect for our one night in Oxford. Close to lots of great places to eat/go out, easy to access with public transportation, and just a super cute and clean place to stay. Highly recommend!

  • This is the nicest air bnb I've ever stayed in! It was so beautifully & thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bedroom was really large & felt relaxing to be in. The only thing to note is there isn't really any free/overnight parking around! We managed but it was very tricky. Best to go without a car if you can!

  • I greatly enjoyed staying in the room in Matt’s house. He is a warm host and the flat was clean and stylish. I’d highly recommend a stay there if you don’t mind being a bit outside the city centre.

  • Modern space and great location - perfect for a short trip in Oxford

    Matt2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Matt is a great host and his house is outstanding. I booked Matt's place for my brother who was visiting me in Oxford and he was more than happy. The house is amazing and the room so spacious and bright. Matt was very quick in his responses to any of out queries. The house is ideally located just off Cowley Road, a short walk from a great variety of shops, restaurants and bars, but the location is very quiet.

    Moscho2019-12-09T00:00:00Z

Kennington is the first village to the south of Oxford. It is sandwiched between the Thames river and the lovely walks by the water meadows , and woods on the other side. It is a quiet and very friendly village, easily accessible for either Oxford City or 'the poor relation' Abingdon Town which is a lovely ancient market town and worth a visit. The Airbnb space is situated centrally, close to the pub and the local shops.
  • Very tidy and cozy place. Very close to a bus station with a short ride into the city. Julie was very helpful, communicative and friendly. Would recommend to anyone.

  • Lovely space, warm and comfortable. Easy walk to the 35 bus route with regular service into Oxford. Just be aware that there is no microwave and the fridge is a good size but has no freezer space. Had a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend this Airbnb.

  • Comfortable, clean, had everything we needed, a nice shower, easy to get into Oxford and only a 5 minute drive to Radley train station to get to our evening wedding reception. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit Oxford or the surrounding area.

  • Stayed for just one night for a quick trip into Oxford. Perfect location nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but with an easy regular bus nearby which takes less than 20 minutes door to door. Brilliant use of space and exactly as described. A bit cold when we arrived late at night but the heaters soon warmed it up to be nice and cosy. Great benefit is self-checkin meaning we could be flexible with our timings.

    Annie2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place, and it's location is amazing - it is near Kassam Stadium so it's perfect to get into Oxford in the morning from the South, instead of braving the more crazy traffic! It was sparkling clean with everything you could need and extremely comfortable. Across the railway bridge you can reach the Thames tow path, which is less than a 5 minute walk from the property. Lovely to stretch your legs after a long day. I didn't try the nearby pub but it looked cosy. Julie's place was the perfect home away from home. The internet was fantastic, the shower amazing and the bed extremely comfortable. It makes me wish I had a mezzanine like that at home. Perfect.

    Sara2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great find near Oxford everything you need is here nice cosy and quiet

    Paul2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great use of space, lots of light. Off street parking is a big plus! Not to mention the convenience of a local shop and pub not a 5 minute walk from the house!

    Richard2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Julie's place - think - "Tiny House" - is perfect for my 10-day stays in Oxford as a grad student. The 35 Bus runs nearby and takes me to Oxford Center. The flat is well-equipped, with a clothes washer and a drying rack, a fridge, and plenty of utensils, pots, and pans. The double bad in the loft is very comfortable and there's a pull-out bed/settee downstairs. If I needed anything at all, Julie was there for me. I'll be back, three more times this year, and if Julie's is available, I'll happily stay again!

Charming 17th century cottage which sits on the village green, next to the fabulous village pub and only a two minute walk from the shop/post office and playground. If you're a fan of Midsomer Murders you may recognise the cottage and the pub next door which have both been seen in some episodes. The beauty of the green has attracted much filming over the years.
Entire property, except for locked rooms.
From the mystical Uffington White Horse and the nostalgia of steam railways to the beauty of the Folly Tower and excitement of the bun throwing festival and Dickensian evenings, Southern Oxfordshire and Warborough in particular is a great place to visit! With Oxford City on its doorstep, the village and surrounding area has something for everyone: there are stunning country houses, palaces and gardens to explore, local museums and inviting traditional pubs such as our own ‘Six Bells’. The unspoilt landscape of the Chiltern Hills, the River Thames, the Berkshire Downs and the Ridgeway provide rambling routes that pass cricket pitches, cross brooks and trace the footsteps of the Saxons, Romans and prehistoric settlers. Warborough is situated approximately mid-way between the beautiful spires of Oxford (15 mins drive) and Reading (20 mins). The popular Bicester Village retail outlet is within a 30 minute drive as is Blenheim Palace and historic Woodstock. There are many beautiful walks from the front door taking in Wittenham Clumps, the River Thames, the Abbey at Dorchester and several of the picturesque neighbouring villages. Boat and canoe hire is available at nearby Benson or Wallingford, or you could try your hand at punting in Oxford. Alternatively, take time to relax in picturesque Warborough, with its beautiful green, cricket pitch, thatched 17th century pub and an array of historic buildings including our own; it is a true picture postcard. Stay a while and explore the neighbouring historical market towns of Wallingford, Henley and Abingdon with their mix of unique independent retailers and high street shops. Weekly farmers markets showcase the very best local produce and artisan wares from talented craftspeople. Many of the villages and towns have featured in films and TV shows, most famously Midsomer Murders, indeed our home and the adjacent properties (and pub) have been seen in a number of series. Take a self-guided tour of the towns to discover the famous buildings, filming locations and residents. With a cosy escape from the winter cold provided by a fabulous log burner in the heart of our home, a year round retreat is provided for families or escaping couples. As the weather warms, the kitchen-diner with tri-fold doors offers open plan alfresco dining.

  • Beautiful cottage in a quiet village, which boasts a fab country pub and also more thatched cottages than I have seen in one place for a while. My guests and I had a fab stay in this stylish and comfortable cottage. We loved every inch of it, from the view from the kitchen, the garden, the living room. It is a perfect venue for a relaxing time. Could not recommend it highly enough.

    James2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • My university friends and I get together every year for a weekend and this was the first year in an Airbnb for us. And what a wonderful choice it was. Hilary’s co host Adriana made sure the key was available for us. Adriana’s husband popped in too to help us with the lovely log fire and heating. This is a beautiful house, plenty of space, quirky character, and ambience with all the mod cons. Having a continental breakfast provided made it even nicer. The Six Bells next door is excellent and we had a lovely dinner there. The only thing we missed out on (because of the weather) was spending time in the lovely garden. I highly recommend this property for a taste of rural England.

It is ideally located for exploring the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside, as well as the Thames Market towns of Wallingford, Henley and Abingdon The historic and cultural city of Oxford is only 8 miles away and Bicester Village is a 30 minute drive.
Herons is located on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Dorchester-on-Thames in South Oxfordshire. Herons was built in 2016 and is totally self contained comprising a bedroom with double bed and fitted wardrobes, an open plan sitting room and kitchenette. The bathroom includes a shower, heated towel rail and large mirror. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, oven, 2 ring hob and fridge. High quality White Company cotton bed linen and towels are provided along with bathroom toiletries. Hairdryer, TV, wifi and a Pure radio with bluetooth. Well designed main and accent lighting. Underfloor heating throughout. There is a decking area with a bistro table and chairs to sit and enjoy the incredible views. There is also a secluded area to the side of the lodge with a luxury cocoon bed to lie on and enjoy the views and amazing sunsets we are lucky to witness. We are in a very private, secluded position and it is a very tranquil place to sit and watch the river boats, waterbirds and wildlife. The Thames Path, one of England's most famous national trails is on the other bank of the river.
Sarah's home is located on the outskirts of the stunning village of Dorchester on Thames in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Dorchester is famous for its Abbey which was originally founded in 635 AD and for it's picturesque houses and streets. It is used for filming Midsomer Murders and Agatha Christies Poirot and attracts tourists from around the world. It is a 15 minute walk into the village and it is also very easy to park in the centre of the village. We look across the meadows to the Wittenham Clumps, a famous local landmark. The local market town of Wallingford prides itself on it's variety of independent shops and bars/restaurants. We also have two other riverside towns, Abingdon and Henley on Thames, famous for its regatta. Our garden runs down to the River Thames. The Thames Path one of our most popular national trails can be easily accessed from Dorchester or Clifton Hampden. It is also possible to hire a range of boats/kayaks/canoes from Benson Marina. The Ridgeway, another national trail is nearby and is also wonderful for walkers. Guides for both trails are kept in the lodge. There are many lovely country pubs which are listed on my guide and on the printed list kept in the lodge. Oxford, the oldest English speaking university in the world, is only 8 miles. Tour the various colleges, museums, botanical gardens and you cannot visit Oxford without having a go at punting. The Bear, Oxford's oldest pub oozes character. Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage site and Britain's greatest palace is only half an hour away. Bicester Village is a luxury shopping destination home to more than 160 world famous brands with huge savings on price all year round. It is a 30 minute drive.
  • What a perfect little getaway in a wonderful and unspoilt part of England right next to the river thames. Perfect place and host who is friendly and accommodating. High quality breakfast items provided as well as very thoughtful personal touches in a warm and cosy space (underfloor heating throughout was amazing!). Would highly recommend and would return in a heartbeat! Thanks so much Sarah for your hospitality.

Sarah was so welcoming and went the extra mile for us. We loved walking to the pub (The Chequers) and would really recommend this for a meal whilst you stay! 5* accommodation and 5* host!

The space offers complimentary breakfast and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The location is great - near the Bear at Home pub, and less than 10min drive from Didcot Parkway train station. Victoria communicated well prior to and throughout our stay and was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this place, and will hopefully return in future.

Part of charming thatched cottage in this attractive South Oxfordshire village, between Didcot (2.5 miles) and Wallingford (3.5 miles). The accommodation has its own entrance, private sitting room - with inglenook fireplace (only use electric fire provided) - and steep, winding stairs leading to the large bedroom with vaulted ceiling and superking bed. Guests will have sole use of the adjoining bathroom. Period features also include low beams, but rule out a shower.
Although there is no kitchen, there is a small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster in the sitting room. Orange juice, cereals, yogurts, bread, butter and jam / marmalade are provided for self service breakfasts. There is a small TV in the sitting room. The superking bed can be divided into 2 singles, if requested in advance.
Walnut Tree Cottage is only a short walk from the Crown Public House. There are various other good Pubs, also serving food, in nearby villages. There is a Tesco Store some 2 miles away at Didcot. You can enjoy numerous country walks with beautiful views over the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs, while the lovely historic market town of Wallingford, with Castle Ruins and River Thames flowing past, is only 3.5 miles away.
  • Really nice! We were only 1 night, but all was excellent! Thanks very much

  • Beautiful part of a country cottage, quiet location, warm and cosy, good sized bedroom with lofty ceiling, softish mattress, bath and plenty of hot water ( no shower but that suited us), downstairs good lounge with small dining chair and tables for breakfast ( supplies included with fridge and microwave ) not a proper kitchen but hosts happy to wash up for us. A few low doorways as expected in a property this age. Lounge has electric fire effect heater in inglenook which was lovely after a walk in the surrounding countryside. Local pub excellent and less than 5 minutes walk. All clean and tidy and very friendly hosts.

  • Walnut Tree Cottage is a lovely period cottage in a small village within easy reach of local towns and walks. It is very warm and cosy with a comfortable sitting area downstairs and a large bedroom and bathroom up some very tight winding stairs. It is really a charming and characterful place to stay. James and Gilly are perfect hosts providing plenty of information if required. There is a fridge, toaster and microwave and plenty of breakfast goods are provided and restocked if needed. Thank you for everything - we will definitely return when in the area.

An entirely self contained private home recently converted from a Georgian stable and cottage. The property is adjacent to the owners property but is entirely separate with it’s own secure parking and entrance. Located in a small village, with two pubs and charming village shop on doorstep. Market town of Wallingford (setting for “Midsomer Murders”) is a short walk with many amenities including the River Thames outdoor pool (summer months), many restaurants and shops including a new Waitrose.
The entire property is dedicated to guests and includes three bedrooms, a hall, utility room, and large kitchen, dining and relaxing area. You also have your own off street secure private parking area for one vehicle (including security lights and camera).
Great location to explore historic market town of Wallingford with its beautiful river walks along the Thames Path and castle gardens, setting of many “Midsomer Murders” and the home of Agatha Christie. 10 miles from Henley on Thames with its boat rides along one of the most scenic stretches of the river, and of course it’s regatta and festivals during the summer months. We are 13 miles from the dreaming spires of Oxford steeped in history, and with a state of the art fantastic new shopping, bar and restaurant complex. There are always lovely walks in the Chiltern Hills or along the Ridgeway, or for those with a passion for history or shopping, Blenheim Palace and Bicester Village are both very convenient, around 40 mins by car. There are many National Trust properties within easy reach, Nuffield Place, Greys Court, Basildon Park, and Hughenden, and for those with young children Beale Park is always a great favourite. Excellent dining out options on the doorstep, there is a “hungry horse” restaurant/pub just up the street, and a historic 14th century pub over the road serving traditional ales and good selection of seasonal and traditional British fare utilising local produce. Wallingford has restaurants for almost every budget and taste and of course many cafes/take-away options. The village park (5min walk) has a “state of art” children’s playground including zip wire, and a wide selection of outdoor gym equipment for those keen on a workout. There is also a bookable tennis court, and a further short walk will take you to the outdoor heated swimming pool (summer months), and jubilee splash park both set on the banks of the River Thames.
  • Do not hesitate to book your stay here. It is just the most stunning space. So calming and conveniently located. We really enjoyed our time here and can’t wait til our next stay! The master bed was soooo comfortable. We didn’t want to check out on the last morning, the sleep was amazing!

Beautiful cottage set in private island grounds facing the river Thames. Access to cottage is on foot over a gravel bridge. We have a washing machine off site. This property used to be part of a working water mill, nearby boat hire on the river or I may be able to sort a canoe out for you. Perfect for long walks by the river. The heron is in residence on the island. You can spot the odd kingfisher and maybe an otter! We can supply a babysitter too.
Entire use of cottage and shared use of island grounds and canoe use too. This cottage is right next to the Thames Path that'll take you to Oxford or Wallingford. Please note, the pool WILL BE CLOSED FROM THE END OF OCTOBER 2019
Very close, with direct buses to Oxford and Reading. Walking distance to Benson village for pubs, cafe etc. Great walking routes close to the Chilterns.
  • Clare was an amazing host and so welcoming! The cottage is a great place. Beautifully decorated and loved the island. We even got a goodbye from Clare and the dogs. We will certainly be back

Brodie’s is a stylish, self-contained studio apartment in the ancient village of Berrick Salome, which is ideally located for exploring beautiful rural south Oxfordshire and the Chilterns, as well as the Thames towns of Henley, Wallingford and Abingdon. The university city of Oxford with all of its historic and cultural attractions is only a 20-minute drive away.
Brodie’s features a double bed with a sumptuous memory foam mattress, hypo-allergenic pillows, and quilt and quality linens. It is tastefully furnished with a mix of modern and mid-century pieces, and comes complete with en-suite shower room and hand painted kitchenette with fridge, washing machine and simple cooking facilities, including induction hob and combination oven with grill and microwave. This fully centrally heated apartment is equipped with a Flat screen TV (Freeview) and DVD player, and a selection of films, books board games to keep you entertained. Unusually for such a rural location we have superfast broadband connection (both Ethernet and Wi-Fi). The apartment was refurbished to a very high standard in November 2017 and offers a stylish and private haven for those holidaying or on business. In the village, there are two traditional British pubs to choose from, both serving excellent food and each only a 10-minute walk from us. Within a 5-minute drive there is a range of local shops and within 15 minutes, numerous great restaurants, including Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.
  • Great stay, place was super clean and had everything we needed

  • A fantastic escape from a hectic week. John and Sue’s place is immaculate, cosy, well equipped and with excellent amenities. There were nice touches and goodies left for our arrival - the chocolate croissants with a cuppa in the morning were superb. A walk to the local friendly pub was easy and a treat with a varied range of specials and lively atmosphere. Wasn’t far from where we lived but it was one of the best nights of the year - so quiet and relaxed, loved it.

A beautiful, cosy, dog-friendly house on a peaceful close in a stunning riverside village. This is the perfect place to retreat to, nestled between the natural beauty of the Chilterns one side and the North Wessex Downs the other side. Goring on Thames is a lively little village with stunning walks, amazing pubs & plenty of live music & arts events throughout the year. Don’t hesitate to contact me.
The medium-sized private room is perfect for one or two people. You are welcome to bring your well-behaved dog (although please discuss on booking) and dog sitting is possible through prearrangement at extra cost. We have a cockapoo who loves everyone and every thing. You’ll be sharing the house with me and my husband but we’ll do our best to be discreet. Breakfast will be basic (tea/coffee, toast, spreads and limited cereal selection) and self-serve but I’ll be on hand for anything. Tea making facilities are not available in the bedroom but you are welcome to use the kitchen for making tea. Check-in is after 5pm and check-out is before 9am, however, if you have a particular request we will do our best to accommodate you. Please ask when you contact me.
Goring on Thames is one of the prettiest villages on the Thames. It is set nestled in stunning countryside and there are beautiful walks/cycle rides straight from the door step, taking you along the river, through nature reserves, over hills or into woods. The oldest road in Britain, the ridgeway trail, passes straight through the village (end of our road!) and this takes you over hills and through valleys and woods. Although Goring has enough to offer so you may not even feel the need to get in your car there is also so much other stuff within easy reach. The City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford, is only 40 mins away (car or train (direct line, station walking distance)). It’s also only 25 minute drive to Harwell Oxford, Chilton, so if you’re looking for a mid-week retreat after a hard working day this will be perfect!
  • Very convenient for Goring facilities. Friendly owners.

A rural fully-equipped self-catering lodge built upon recycled tyre foundations and powered by the wind and sun at the rear of a rural business centre. The lodge is set in a rural location a few miles from the historic town of Wallingford. It has its own fenced garden with South-facing sun deck and views over open fields.
The lounge/dining room, bedroom and kitchen look over open fields to the south, with double French doors leading onto a sunny full-length deck. We have chickens, geese and sheep in the next door fields. The lodge has been designed to absorb any winter sunshine but is shaded throughout the summer months thereby offering a comfortable internal climate throughout the year. There is a small wood burner so the lodge is warm and toasty on those cold winter evenings, as well as energy-efficient infra-red heater panels in the bedroom and bathroom. The lodge has a large open-plan dining/lounge area, with a separate small well-equipped kitchen and a shower room leading off from the entrance hallway. The spacious bedroom with a large double as well as a single bed has double French doors leading onto the front decking. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, gas oven, microwave, toaster, bodum-style coffee pot & frother and a good selection of kitchenware and utensils. A wooden deck with patio furniture runs along the whole of the South-facing side of the building, looking over the garden and fields beyond.
This area is great for walking, cycling and visiting historic sites. The "Ridgeway" which is an 87 mile national trail, is about 3/4 mile away.

Chalgrove is situated 8 miles south of oxford, The Barn is located in the heart of the village, surrounded by local shops and a fantastic gastro pub serving great fresh locally sourced food. The newly converted barn is set in a peaceful garden with independent access & separate from the main house.
The Barn offers a light living area, which looks out onto the garden. The living room includes a kitchen dining and sitting areas. There is a separate bedroom with shower.

  • This is one of the best AirBnb places that we've stays in. Immaculately clean, excellent instructions (communication), fabulous amenities and a beautifully interior decorated place that looks like it belongs in a magazine. Thoughtful touches were the two chocolates on the bed. This was like being in a 5-star hotel with the soft bedding and fluffy towels experience. Hendriette also of a very thoughtful guide of things to do in the area including some books and pamphlets. Wallingford is a great little town for a visit. We didn’t want to leave as we could just stay in such a lovely place.

  • This is a fabulous apartment with high quality finishing touches throughout. My husband and I stayed here with our 18 year old daughter, she thought the apartment was super cool. Attention to detail was everywhere. Every effort made to make you feel right at home. The beds had high quality bed linen and the mattress was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this stunning apartment

  • I’ve stayed here quite a few times and it is such a home from home - great place and great location

  • As soon as I got to Lise's Airbnb I knew I had struck gold! A truly great place to stay, which was particularly important as I was there for a month! Everything I needed was there, with a lovely clean bathroom, comfy bed, a very quiet rustic location and plenty of space. Communications were perfect and as I am somewhat of a recluse, I also appreciated the privacy! Though they were always on hand if I needed anything. I would definitely stay here again and can thoroughly recommend it. Thanks Lise!

  • Great place. Lise and Rupert are great, really accommodating. The reviews about the door banging are correct, it can be quite jarring. Unfortunately, the washing machine was broken while I was there, which resulted in a few pieces of clothing being ruined. Rupert was really nice about it, and allowed me to use the machine in the main house, but it didn't get fixed while I was there (for 2 weeks) which was a bit annoying. Otherwise, lovely place, highly recommend it.

This is a comfortable one bed annexe provided with off road parking (no trade vehicles Inc. caddy vans) located in the pretty village of East Hagbourne, just 10 minutes from Didcot station. It is a well furnished room with all the standards plus underfloor heating. It has a double bed, TV, wardrobe, table and chairs, shower, sink, towel rail and toilet etc. The Kitchen is a good size and fully equipped with oven, fridge, toaster, kettle, washing machine.
  • Chris and Mark are fantastic hosts, very warm and welcoming. We had a lovely stay at there place. The surroundings are very idyllic and picturesque. The fully equipped kitchen comes very handy for us. They have made sure to build the studio very eco-friendly. The floor heating is amazing and the first of its kind to be experienced by us. Even a short time of heating keeps the room very warm. The sound of birds and the natural stream in the backyard keeps you positive and motivated. We enjoyed the fieldside view when it gets sunny in the afternoon. It's a great location with supermarkets a few minutes drive away. I wish to visit there place again. Thank you for hosting us.

    Clive2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 2 night stay at Chris’s place - well equipped, comfortable, warm and very relaxing! Great location with supermarket a few minutes drive away and lovely walks straight from the door. There is no microwave (but oven and hot plates so plenty of cooking options) but just worth being aware of if your cooking skills are as limited as mine!! Overall fabulous stay, would definitely return if in the area again.

  • Chris and Mark have a charming cottage with a beautiful garden. They were lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome. The cottage is very clean with all amenities and a VERY comfortable bed! We loved sitting outside, having breakfast by a babbling brook.

Double room available very close to the River Thames and a few minutes walk from the centre of Wallingford. It is just a short drive to Cholsey Station and trains to Paddington. Buses to Oxford and Reading stop at the end of the road. There is parking on the road outside. I have 2 bathrooms, so you will have almost exclusive use of the bathroom next door to your room. There is a small shared kitchen you can use to make snacks, tea, coffee etc. if you wish to provide these for yourself.
You can request access to beautiful communal gardens, which lead down to the Thames Path and the banks of the River Thames. There is also a public footpath very close by, which leads directly to the Thames.
Wallingford is a beautiful, historic old market town, with lots to explore and places to eat out. The old Corn Exchange shows regular cinema screenings. There are beautiful countryside and river walks you can access directly from the house as well as cycleways to explore. There is a tourist information office in the market place.
  • Great hosts, great room, great experience! I will return!
