Intact, late Victorian neighborhood with beautiful architecture - walkable, friendly, diverse and community oriented. A truly unique neighborhood in the heart of DC.
  • Great experience. Paul is really nice and patient. The room is lovely and comfortble. I will definately recommend it.

  • Paul was very helpful and hospitable. We had a very great experience and have already recommended to our friends.

    Ben2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is a super nice host, his place is soooo amazing. It was a surprise when he open the garden gate. Strongly recommend to travelers and couples.

    Haoshen2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a wonderful host, very knowledgeable of the area. The room was beautiful and clean, with all the necessities. Location is perfect, a short distance to all the sights and surrounded by great places to eat and drink.

    Laura2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's quiet and beautiful space was a joy to rest in while on a long road trip. I was ready to stay one more night, but it wasn't available. Which means I will have to go back! Paul was very kind and ready to extend any help I might need to make my stay perfect.

    Deborah2015-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great little basement apartment in a very cool area. Pretty small but definitely gets the job done for a short term stay and if you're not planning on spending too much time indoors! Renter was very nice and left a comprehensive list of things to do in the neighbourhood.

    Bojan2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Paul immediately welcomed us upon arrival, showing us where to park and how to access the garden suite. We were instantly impressed by the outdoor patio area, which resembled the south of France. The suite itself was thoughtfully and tastefully designed. The property looked just like the pictures and all of Zach and Paul's personal touches really made their property special. The neighborhood was a unique blend of old and new, with plenty of eclectic restaurants and cafes. Though not downtown, we found the Uber rides to be inexpensive and convenient. Paul and Zach went above and beyond by making themselves available to us, but also by allowing us to be autonomous. We would definitely recommend this suite to anyone looking to stay in a funky, unique neighborhood that's close to downtown, but far enough away to avoid the tourists. Thumbs up!!

    Matthew2015-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this bnb for my friend and his dad. They loved the place and so did I! It is very clean and has a lot of character in it. Super love! Would definitely recommend this to everyone. Paul was out of town when we came so we met Zach instead. But met Paul the next day also. They were both amazing and friendly! Definitely a 5-star rating!!!

Our historic one bedroom apartment is carved out of an 1895 Victorian row house. It has nice character and charm. Located in a fantastic neighborhood, close to great restaurants, bars and transportation.
One bedroom apartment with full kitchen, private entrance, living room, study and bedroom. Hardwood floors throughout. This 19th century house was carved into apartments in the early 1960's. Some of the original Victorian details were saved. It was updated in the 1960's to accommodate Washington, DC's need for more housing.
  • Staying at the Tilman House was amazing!! Steven was a very gracious host & extremely helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out (twice). The house is nestled in a quiet neighborhood close to excellent restaurants & not a bad walk to the metro. We were so happy we stayed at the Tilman House while we were in D.C. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!

    Kayla2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully quaint house with the neatest decor and accents.

    Sarah2016-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Tillman house is beautiful with its quirky, vintage charm. The house has easy access to public transportation as well as small bistros and cafès. Steven was also very accommodating with a change in check-in / check-out times due to our early morning / evening flights. We loved our time there and would definitely return!

    Taylor2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Steven's house, it was huge and wonderfully eclectic. If you want a shabby chic place with a great porch near some good places for drinks this is ideal.

    Connie2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Funky apartment in a great location. Perfect for two people. Steven was a great host; responded immediately to any questions/requests. Just a couple of things to be aware of: steep steps to the building, so may be challenging if you have access issues. No TV, (except for videos) - but we didn't miss it. It was a nice break. Great wifi connection. And, if you have a car, which we did for one night, you can park in the back. That was a bonus, since DC has a lot of restricted parking.

    Patricia2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really nice, the antiques he has are awesome. He has a nice collection of books and VHS movies, which were fun to watch!

    Maritza 2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • One of the coolest places I've stayed in. The place is unique and well decorated.

    Timothy2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Steven's place is AWESOME. It is near great restaurants and an incredible cafe (best bagel I've had in a long time). The decor is unique and expertly done. The apartment is HUGE, clean, and everything worked as expected. AC in the summer was nice and refreshing as well. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in DC and may very well return myself!

One-of-a-kind opportunity to share home in historic Georgetown. Completely remodeled, including your guest room and private bath. Full access to house, with special extras: rooftop deck, sauna, office, yoga studio, shady backyard garden. Easy access to metro. Walk to Dupont Circle, Embassy Row, & shops, restaurants and bars/nightclubs.
This is a gem of a place which is situated in one of Washington's most vibrant, historic neighborhoods while you are in the area for business or pleasure. The house vibe is laid back and hospitable.
Historic Georgetown is in the northwest quadrant of Washington, DC situated along the Potomac River and Rock Creek. Much of Georgetown is surrounded by parkland and green space, such as Rock Creek Park, Dumbarton Oaks, Oak Hill Cemetery, Rose Park and Montrose Park. Our favorite farmers' markets are a hop, skip and jump away and open Wednesdays at Rose Park in season and Sundays at Dupont Circle year round. Walking up and down the tree lined streets of Georgetown is a delight, viewing quaint and charming homes, gardens, flower filled window boxes and brick sidewalks which have been in place for centuries, perhaps walked upon by such notables such as George Washington, JFK or Alexander Hamilton himself. Local businesses add so much additional character, like the butcher shop two blocks away that makes the best pastrami sandwiches you will ever eat. There's also a dry cleaners, a wine shop and a corner store within a stone's throw. The nearby Georgetown Waterfront provides additional entertainment, either wining and dining at the many hot spots with a water view along the river or actually going on the Potomac for paddle boarding or kayaking. So much to see or do throughout the neighborhood, with countless shops, restaurants and entertainment establishments within walking distance, both in Georgetown and Dupont Circle.
  • Gorgeous place! Wonderful host. I felt welcomed and at home. Would love to return

    Gina2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica was great hostess, very responsive and friendly. I love the food from the farmers market and variety of different jams! She provided an acceptional service! Thank you Jessica! I will definitely consider to stay at your place again.

    Olga2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica is a great host. She went above and beyond making my stay a great one. Check in was simple. The place is beautiful. She took the time to share the cities local hangouts and where to get the best food in town. The bed was clean and warm on a cold night. I have not slept like a baby in a long time. I'll come stay again. Thank you.

  • Beautiful home in a fantastic location. Easy to walk to metro. And easy metro location to get to any other areas you might want to visit.

    Andrea2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place

    May2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • I truly enjoyed my stay in Jessica's home. It was very nice to have a private bathroom, and even though there were other guests staying at the same time, it didn't feel crowded. I appreciated having a desk in the bedroom (as I needed to get some work done). The location was great; quiet street, yet close to "everything" - I walked or biked to the White House and the convention center, and it was close to Georgetown waterfront and the main shopping streets, as well as close to DuPont circle. I also enjoyed the Rock Creek Pkwy trails which were great for running or walking. Jessica was very helpful and suggested restaurants and shops and directions when I needed it. The house cozy with a backyard where it is nice to eat breakfast:-) I would absolutely recommend staying at Jessica's house if you get the chance to do so.

    Randi2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Place was clean, quiet, convenient and centrally located. Found I could walk to many meetings downtown, and to coffee shops / restaurants nearby in Georgetown. Jessica was friendly, super-responsive and very helpful.

  • Jessica's house is very beautiful, in a wonderful part of the city. Close to restaurants and shops. She was very easy to communicate with and had very good suggestions for our stay. We were also able to have a wonderful breakfast in her lovely backyard. Highly recommend!

Enjoy city living in our sunny, bright 1 BR Penthouse condo. I've outfitted some of the city's best spas so our guests should expect comfort, thoughtful amenities and great service. Our condo easily sleeps 4 with room for 6. Modern decor compliments century-old brick walls and reclaimed wood accents. The luxurious bathroom includes a custom seated shower, double vanity, soft towels, hair dryer, spa-quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The Metro Subway station is 2 1/2 blocks away.
Luxurious, private, urban, ultra comfortable and absolutely beautiful. Located on lively Mt. Pleasant Street! This is an urban retreat ideal for those who want to experience the bustle of the city in a diverse, historic and artsy neighborhood. Across the street is Suns independent movie theater & the Raven dive bar. On the next block there's Each Peach Market for great food-to-go and sandwiches, Beau Thai for local hip thai food and even a papusa restaurant in the lower level of our building. Just steps away from us are even more restaurants, grocery stores, and even your big chain store Target! The lively neighborhoods of Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, and Dupont are within walking distance and the White House is about three miles down 16th Street. Walk through Rock Creek Park for a tour of the historic Pierce Mill or marvel at the opulent 25 acre Hillwood Estate - home to the most comprehensive collection of Russian imperial art outside of Russia. Traveling with kids? A playground for little ones is just around the corner or walk down the hill to the National Zoo where admission is free. Sit for story time at the newly renovated Mt Pleasant library and check out original artwork by the artist Aurelius Battaglia who later worked on Disney's Dumbo. Public transport is excellent in our neighborhood...walk to the metro (2 1/2 blocks away), hop on a bus, rent a bike through Capital Bike Share or drive around with Zip Car - all just minutes from our door. Columbia Heights metro station (green line) is only 0.3 miles away - about a 5 minute walk from the condo. Cleveland Park (red line) is a 5 min ride on the H4 bus which is minutes from our door. For those wanting to hit the White House or National Mall, walk 2 minutes and catch the S4 bus which goes down 16th Street. The White House is about a 10 minute bus ride and the Mall is another ten. We highly recommend Uber and Lyfts because they are inexpensive and super quick options. For those driving into the city, you will need to park your car in a garage or lot. The closest garage is located at the DC USA complex (@ Target, Bed n Bath). It is a quick walk from the condo.
  • I had a great stay at Jenny's place. Beautiful and clean space in a well located neighborhood, near a shopping area and metro. Super responsive and attentive to our needs during the stay. Couldn't have had a better time. Will definitely be staying with her in the future!

    Alisyn2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny was very helpful, reacted almost immediately. The place is very nice and the neighbourhood also.

    Arjan2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time using airbnb. We stayed at Jenny and Jason's place with our three kids ages 5-17. The place was perfect for our family and Jenny was very helpful! The cleanliness of the apartment was up to the standards of my very particular husband. Well done! We will definitely be back!

    Mary2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Jenny's place! It was extremely clean and spacious. It is in a great location and it was very easy to get around the neighborhood. We had to check in late at night, and Jenny was very accommodating and gave very clear instructions on how to access the lockbox. We would love to stay here again!

The appartement was very clean, modern, safe and as described/shown on the pictures. We could really feel like at home... We haven't met together, but jenny or her friend replied within minutes and are very helpful

There were also numerous restaurants and shops nearby, including grocery. The condo was well-equipped and comfortable, and remarkably quiet at night. Jenny's communication was very quick and helpful. It was a great experience!

Private cottage with private entrance features a queen bed, private bath, cable tv, a kitchenette, WiFi, heating and cooling controlled by you and clean towels, sheets and bedspreads. This is a very small house and in order to maximize the storage possibilities the bed is about a foot higher off the floor than a regular bed. We have a stool to help you but if this will be a problem you may want to look into another place to stay. Conveniently located to Union Station, The Capitol Building, The National Mall, H Street/Atlas District, Eastern Market, great restaurants, and public transportation. Most of these locations are easily walkable or if you prefer to bike or take public transportation that is convenient too. This cottage is in our backyard. We have a table and fire pit in the backyard that you are free to use if we are not. There is a field behind our house where we and many other neighbors enjoy playing soccer. We have 3 kids ages 6 - 9. Check In is at 2pm. Check Out is at 11am. If you arrive early and would like to leave your bags in our storage room let us know and we can work that out!
Capitol Hill is a very family friendly, walkable neighborhood. There is a field behind our house where neighbors enjoy playing soccer. We are walking distance to a few parks, Eastern Market, H St./Atlas District and some great restaurants.
  • This may be one of my favorite Airbnb experiences. Prior to our arrival there was excellent communication and directions on how to enter the cottage from Linden. The cottage is an awesome "minimalist" style living space with full shower and restroom, tv, and other useful items. Loved the little book nook above the door. Neighborhood is quiet and walkable to transportation and local restaurants. Capitol bike share is around the corner too. Overall perfect experience with host Linden- highly recommend.

    Jonathan2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a cute, well-designed and decorated place! And love that it was essentially a tiny house. Great host, great communication, and easy access.

    Daniel2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Linden was a phenomenal host, and the tiny house was a beyond amazing place to stay for our trip to D.C. The space was super clean, and the amenities were great. The tiny house lived up to its name - it was small, but more than enough space for two people for a weekend. Linden provided helpful information about the neighborhood and great suggestions for what to do during our stay. We would absolutely stay with Linden again when we come back to D.C. I wish I could give it more stars!

    Anne2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Awesome location, super clean. It is small, but doesn't feel cramped. I would 100% stay here again and highly recommend it.

    Holly2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Tiny House is a beautiful place. It was perfectly clean and has all you need for a stay in Washington. It is located in a very nice and safe area and is in walking distance to the capitol lots of famous sights in Washington. I did not meet Linden personally cause I was hardly there during my stay. But Linden was always reachable for me and answered quickly. For one or two persons I would always recommend the Tiny House for a stay in Washington.

    Veit2016-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This Tiny House is tiny, but most of all it's cosy, bright, very clean and has got everything you need! Including lots of privacy. If we needed anything, Linden was probably going to fix it, but for us this wasn't necessary. We had more than enough in our tiny house and walked to everything we wanted to see. Linden, thanks a lot!

    Jet2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house is exactly as advertised, with needed amenities you might not think of already in place. Only a couple miles from the government and museum attractions most desired, and accessible transit of all kinds nearby (including bike sharing) with Lyft etc always a few minutes away from pickup. H Street has eateries of all kinds a few blocks away. You are cozy and comfortable, with amicable host ready to provide anything else you may need. A terrific stay, great value.

My place is in Northeast DC, close to the Brookland metro station (red line). I have a newly-renovated row home with a huge backyard, which you also have access to. Guests will have your own bedroom on the basement level with a queen bed and private bathroom. I hold a business license with the city of Washington DC to operate rental property. My home has been inspected and approved for occupancy.
Brookland is kind of a retro neighborhood...lots a cute bungalows, tree-lined streets, and friendly neighbors. There's also great new restaurants and Right Proper brewery less than two blocks away. And with Catholic University nearby, you'd be walking/biking distance to the metro, cafes and bookstore. Brookland is close to Northeast's most popular destinations - Union Market and H Street corridor - and was also just featured on Eater: (URL HIDDEN) Lots of good options to check out in the neighborhood and easy access to the rest of what DC has to offer.

  • Great location near metro, 0.4 miles away from the brookland stop on the red line. About a 10 min walk. If you are here to sight see DC, this place is perfect. My fiancé and I used lyft/uber ride share while we were here. The average cost was $3-5 to go places one way. Lots of local places to go for food! Communication with host is great with quick responses. She really made sure that we were comfortable during our stay.

Generous (800 square foot) apartment, elegantly remodeled. On a quiet street in DC's most walkable urban neighborhood; between Dupont Circle metro and bustling 14th Street. Contemporary furnishing and designer lighting combine with original Victorian elements to lend the space a warm but modern feel. Runs on renewable energy.
Beds are one queen and one single (a day bed with a firm futon style mattress). Kitchenette is equipped for preparing breakfasts and other light meals. The fridge has a small freezer inside for ice and ice-cream. The apartment has an electric range and a microwave, no oven though, so don't plan to bake. Being away from home shouldn't mean you drink bad coffee! We provide a range of coffee making paraphernalia (moka pot, aeropress filter, French press) a grinder and fresh beans to get you started. There is also a toaster and pots and pans. Let us know if you have any special requests. There is also a clothes washer & dryer, clothes iron, and a hair dryer.
Dupont Circle is in an historic inner city neighborhood that was developed in the late 19th Century. According to Walk Score it is the most walkable neighborhood in the District. Amenities within half a mile include dozens of restaurants and bars, three supermarkets, two weekend farmers markets, museums, galleries, retail shopping, parks, playgrounds, two metro lines, and lots of bike share stations.

  • We were appreciative of the welcome we received upon arrival. The apartment was spotless and well suited for our weekend needs, and what a great location to be a 5 minute walk to a great viewing spot for the Gay Pride Parade. Everything we needed or could have needed was easily available. The a/c kept the apt. cool and was a gift, as the temps were in the mid-nineties. Should we return to DC, we would stay here in a heartbeat.

  • Mark was an excellent host and made my trip to DC comfortable as if I were a resident and not just a guest in the city! The place was very clean and Mark provided the basic necessities. I had no disruption from the other people living in the home and it seemed as if everyone just went about their day. The only disruption was what to me sounded like maybe a mouse scratching and squealing in the walls, but I never actually saw anything. Mark was very concerned about this and even offered me a room upstairs. Mark was also responsive via text and the airbnb messaging. I had an evening train out of DC and Mark allowed for me to have a late check-out so that I didn't have to carry luggage around while I was sight-seeing. If you're looking for a chill, private place to rest your head while traveling DC, I recommend this location!

    Kelly2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Best part about Mark's place was by far the location, and you can't beat the price. You are minutes away from the metro, bike share, restaurants and a grocery store. The suite was plenty for 3 and a dog. And there just happened to be a dog park one block away! However, if you have a vehicle, parking is a bit of a challenge. I recommend a parking garage for over night weekends,( about $40) but it gave us peace of mind from the tow trucks and meter maids. This is a great place if you plan to be a tourist all day and a nice place to sleep at night.

  • Our experience at the apartment was great. The neighborhood was really nice with a lot of cool restaurants and bars around. The metro was easy to get to and to use. Communication with the host was good. He helped us out with a parking space.

  • Meghan and Rob were very proactive with instructions and communications, and check in was easy and painless. The suite was very private and well kept, easy to come and go when we pleased. This was our first Air BNB, and I'd gladly do it again!

  • Definitely recommend this air bnb if you're staying in DC! Jonah's place was even bigger than I thought. Super clean and very nice lighting. Even though we didn't get to meet in person the communication was spot on.

  • Jonah was such a great host! He himself was very helpful, and always available if needed. The basement apartment was stocked with drinks, essentials, as well as several games- cards, poker chips, a dart board. The place was very spacious and cozy, with plenty of sleeping space, good shower and bathroom, comfy beds. The stay was very enjoyable!

    Sierra2016-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jonah was extremely helpful at accommodating my large family during our weekend stay in DC. The space was large enough to fit a group of 5 adults with 3 children. We all enjoyed staying in the huge in-law suite. The neighborhood was quite and parking was available on the streets. I would highly recommend Jonah's suite for anyone looking to spend some time in DC.

    Sophonie 2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome by Jonah. Our family of 4 stayed at his place and there was ample room for everyone to relax and sleep. His neighborhood was a great one: we walked to the metro, explored local businesses, even the neighbors said hi when we walked past. Incidentally, the water pressure in the unit is a dream. My kids didn't even know a shower could be that great. Thanks from all of us!

    Lorian2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Jonah's place for my mom and dad who were coming up during the week pretty last minute. He was really responsive and made the process so easy, especially as I ended up being stuck at work and wasn't able to come by and pick up the key or anything. My parents LOVED the place and have declared that this is where they will stay for every future DC trip they make. They found it clean, comfortable, and beyond. And while they didn't get to meet Jonah in person (very short trip!), they told me he seems like a fun and very generous guy! ;) Can't argue with all the good reviews!

    Ameesha2015-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was accurate and Jonah is a great host. He was helpful and has a beautiful house. The back patio was beautiful and he supplied us with everything we need. I would recommend Jonah and his residence for any types of travels through the D.C. area.

3 to 6 blocks to Washington DC Convention Center. Premium, hippy & convenient location. A renovated & Separate condo in lower level of a Victoria townhouse. Not share with host, but host is available 24/7. Windows,TV,large sofa, wardrobe & desk in room. Most complaints/low star rating were due to bad Comcast cable, which leads to no wifi, no TV & wifi door lock could not open. Recently Comcast has fixed it by installing a BIG cable box in our building. Now internet, TV and lock all work great.
    1. There are two beds: one is a double bed, another one is a sofa which can be pull over to be a full size bed. OK Room size for 2 people. some people may find the space is tight for 3 persons. Everything works. Most things are new. Wood laminate floor. 2. Private bathroom is inside your private bedroom. Most airbnb private rooms, let alone the shared rooms, do not have private bathrooms. 3. This room is located on an English basement condo, which means top half the condo is above the ground, and lower half the condo is below the ground. But around the condo, earth is dug out, so the ground cinder bricks is at least 4 feet away from the windows and the house. when you open any window, top half is above ground, lower half is below the ground, but cinder block wall is at least 4 feet away. 4. room temperature: The condo has strong central AC/Heat. also, being a lower level condo, the ground earth temperature is more stable and gives this condo more comfort. we strive to provide the most comfortable room temperature for our guest: less than 76F (24C) for the hot season, more than 69F (20C) for the cold season. According to various website, the most comfortable temperature is 70F to 75F. That said, Each room is Not adjustable. Each person is different at different time regarding to temperature. So if you want room temperature outside above temperature, it would be difficult for us to satisfy it, because we have other guest who may have different requirement. If our cooling/heating is too strong, please open the window or use fan. Each room has a fan. 5. This condo has another 2 guest rooms. Please be courteous to other guests, e.g. no loud talk/phone/tv after 10 pm inside the building or near windows outside.
the neighborhood is called Shaw. it is very centrally located in dc with long history, modern, hippy and diverse. the recommended source for information is G00g1e, yelp, or online, not us. in most cases, we do not know you enough to give a good recommendation,

  • Michael's location was great for us! The house is located very near H Street and accessible to other locations in DC with an easy uber ride. The home is very large and will comfortably accommodate a small group. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and we were able to have an action packed weekend in DC and comfortable place to stay. There are large beds and a couch and air mattress for sleeping, if you will have anyone sleeping on the couch or air mattress I suggest bringing a blanket as there is not extra blankets and sheets outside of the ones on the beds. There are plenty of towels and wash clothes. There is also a small but adequate kitchen to store drinks and food that is open to guests. One thing you will need to understand is that while this is a private/entire house rental, Michael does host a painting class in the home on weekends. The class participants never come upstairs where personal items are, and everyone is very respectful of the space. The class only uses the front living room and the kitchen for serving drinks. We were able to plan our schedules to be out of the home from 7-9 on Friday and Saturday and only really saw the instructor briefly the whole weekend. So please do not be discouraged to stay here, it works out great! Additionally, the nature of the classes does not effect the smell of the house. Walking in you can not detect the smell of paints or other scents from the event. Michael was extremely responsive to my texts regarding check in and check out and kindly offered a discount for his painting class. I would highly recommend his home based on location, comfort and my interactions with Michael. Happy Lodging!

Please send note to inquire about availability before booking- Lovely room in grand Anacostian historic house. Walk 10 minutes to beautiful Anacostia waterfront or go to White house (15 minutes:car, 30: bike, or 40: public transportation.) If more than two people- no problem, besides the luxurious queen bed, I have a brand new comfortable twin air mattress for your enjoyment.
Anacostia is an interesting dichotomy as it is an up&coming DC urban neighborhood with rich early-20th century historic architecture. It is 1 block away from Frederick Douglas Smithsonian Museum and this neighborhood has LOADS of character! It is a 10-13 minute walk to the metro. I think it is safe: kids go to school, people go to work, and I walk this route for nightlife or when I need to go to the airport. However, I think some people find it intimating because, frankly, it's an urban place with a whole lot of black people and that scares some people who may be from small cities, etc.
  • We had a nice stay the room was very comfortable and the location only ten minutes from downtown

  • Barbara is a wonderful host. The house is beautiful. The rooms are luxurious and super comfortable. The bathroom is clean and well equipped. Besides, there is a huge drawing/dining room. My host sent in a message saying exactly how to unlock the door and she was also accessible via phone. The neighbourhood was also nice. The nearest metro station is Anacostia (which is around 10-15 minutes walking distance from her place). From Anacostia one can reach the capitol in almost no time. In all, I would recommend Barbara's place for people looking to come to DC for a short holiday.

  • Lee's place is on a beautiful little street in an excellent part of the town with great restaurants and bars nearby. Lee was welcoming and warm, made us feel at home when we got there. The room itself was cleanly kept and the attached bathroom and patio are superb.

  • Lee was a wonderful host - very responsive, welcoming, thoughtful and generous and a pleasure to chat with. Staying at his house was just like visiting family. There was a wifi issue he resolved super quickly and he was always available to answer questions. The house was conveniently located for my work trip, on a scenic, quiet street that makes it easy to relax in the evenings. While I spent relatively little time in the room, I enjoyed the comfortable bed, the perfectly clean bathroom and the sunny deck. Would be a pleasure to return someday.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lee's place! The location is amazing! There is so much to see and do, all within walking distance. The area has incredible restaurants and it is very safe to walk around, even at night. Lee's home is beautiful! Our room and bathroom were exactly what we hoped for and the bed was extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the rooftop porch, particularly at dusk. The street is adorable, filled with trees and flowers and neighbors. Also, for being in such a prime location, the street was very quiet at night. I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely stay here in the future! In addition, we had the pleasure of meeting Lee. He helped us tremendously with great recommendations and advice on navigating the city. He made us feel very welcomed and at home.

Intimate one bedroom in Capitol Hill, GREAT location! Guests can walk to everything, The neighborhood is teeming with amazing restaurants, lively and unique bars as well as a plethora of entertainment options. Be on the steps of the Capitol in 15!
Small but perfectly formed, this one bed apartment is just perfect for exploring the sights of the city. Wonderful location, right on Constitution Avenue. Walk to metro, Capitol Hill, Monuments and the Mall. Great access to public transport! This lovely English basement apartment is perfect for the traveling executive, a romantic getaway in the city or simply your average adventurer. Comfortably sleeps 4 guests in two beds. Perfectly airy in the summer season and wam & cozy in the fall/winter months; our Cozy on the Hill home is wonderful any time of year! ~ While we can’t guarantee parking, some guests have had luck getting temporary permits from neighboring police stations. Guests would need to bring their trip itinerary with their full name, dates of stay, and street address of the residence. This is at the discretion of the police stations however, and cannot be guaranteed. We also provide excellent resources and coupon codes for finding nearby garages at the cheapest rates.
The neighborhood is teeming with amazing restaurants, lively and unique bars as well as a plethora of entertainment options -  from live music, comedy, improv, and stage plays; those interested in the arts or just looking to see something new will not be disappointed!  Aside from being so close to the United States Congress, Capitol Hill is the largest historic residential neighborhood in Washington DC, stretching easterly in front of the United States Capitol along wide avenues. It is one of the oldest residential communities in Washington, and, with roughly 35,000 people in just under 2 square miles (5 km2), it is also one of the most densely populated.  You`re also a very short walk, bus, metro or Uber ride from a number of other neighborhoods not to be missed; including Union Market, Chinatown, Gallaudet University, and the Navy Yard.
  • PROS: The apartment is located in a beautiful quiet street and Capitol Hill and the Mall are only a short 15 mins walk away. There is also a park with a good playground around the corner which was convenient for us as we have two young kids. The beds were comfortable, including the sofa bed. The managers were also extremely responsive and always very friendly. Contact with them was a pleasure. The apartment was nice and modern and had netflix integrated in the Tv. CONS: The apartment is in the basement of the main house, which means it is dark, it does not feel very private and you can hear every step and word from upstairs (although the people upstairs were not noisy but watch TV quite late). The bathroom was in poorly maintained condition, the plugs and shower/bath lever did not work (so no bath) and the shower had at times no more than a little stream of water. The kitchen stove had no ventilation so when anything was cooked the fire alarm started to beep.

Affordable bunks conveniently located in DC. Guests are provided free wi-fi, laundry, kitchen facilities, and bunk. Guests are encouraged to bring their own sleeping bag and linens, but host usually keeps a few things on hand if you don't have them.
GUESTS MUST HAVE VALID INTERNSHIP DOCUMENTATION, STUDENT ID OR J-1 VISA (INTERNATIONAL OKAY). The space is fairly basic. In the living/dining area, you'll find two tables for meals or studying and two lounge chairs and one sofa for relaxing. One television is located in the living room. If interested, we can also provide a Netflix password for your use during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full sized stove and range, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge. Some dishware is provided for your use. Clean linens can be found in the upstairs hall closet or on a rack located in the lower level. The laundry room is available on a first come first served basis. Each room is furnished with multiple sets of bunk beds. No lockers are available and guests are responsible for securing their personal belongings. A bike rack positioned out front for your convenience. However, we strongly encourage the use of a u-lock versus a cable lock.
The neighborhood is a hidden gem in DC. Few visitors venture east of the Anacostia River due to gross misrepresentations of the area and its residents. The house is situated on a quiet block of owner-occupied homes near major highways and within two miles of three metro stops. Most residents are retired government employees. It is primarily a working-class African American area. We have been renting space to students since 2012 and have had only one report of a bike theft in three years! We have welcomed guests from Thailand, Phillipines, Netherlands, Bulgaria, China, Jamaica, Jordan, U.K., and more! We have a global attitude and affirm everyone's right to have a peaceful, safe space to relax after visiting the Nation's capitol. You are welcome regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, racial or ethnic background, nationality, or political affiliation.
  • This was by far the worse place i have ever stayed in. Over-crowded and disgustingly dirty! Expected the people staying to sort our beds. Some people who staying more than 2months have never even seen the host. Never stayed somewhere so dirty in my life. And ive travelled alot.

  • Good place !

    edgar2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place was soooo dirty. It was just gross. We arrived, the room for females was downstairs and it was nasty. The carpet couldn't have been dirtier. The beds where we had to sleep didn't even look clean (we had to make it ready by ourselves. that's okay because she says it in the description) Not even toilet paper in the bathroom. Everything was dirty. You can hear every single step from upstairs through the wall. Neighborhood is not the safest. But if you want to stay in Washington at a low price and don't have a problem with dirtiness why not. Just nothing for me.

  • Thanks for a great time!! I could only stay here for a night but I wish I was there longer. Tremeshia was very helpful at the beginning of my stay, and I was very glad to meet a very friendly and interesting bunch of housemates. Sheets and towel provided, which was a nice touch. The house was a tiny bit dusty, but that didn't bother me at all. The place isn't very far from donwtown DC either, and remember that Uber is relatively cheap in DC too.

  • House as described, open communication with host and quick responses. ️️️️️

  • I never saw the host but I did made a call to ask help from her. The guys here are friendly, but as for the condition, you just get what you paid. Anyway, personally speaking, I think it's a pretty good place for one or two nights.

Super Affordable Stay for 2 Friends... Only $50 Per Night. Enjoy DC like a real Washingtonian. Short train ride to the National Mall, Capitol, Smithsonian, White House and monuments. Bike or jog along the waterfront. Hike through the park. All the culture of DC without the cost!
The two bunks in this large shared room is the perfect solution for a short and comfortable stay in DC. Note, this shared room may be occupied by 2 other guest. I never know if my guest will be male or female. However, everyone I have previously hosted was peaceful and respectful regardless of gender.
The house is conveniently located near East Capitol Street. Quickly walk to the Benning Road Metro Station on the Blue/Silver line. There is also a bus stop, that goes to the metro, in front of the house. Take the Blue/Silver line directly to the Capitol, National Mall, Smithsonian, White House and more... only a few stops!!! Biking trails are also in abundance throughout the neighborhood.
  • The place is pretty !

The Dupont Circle neighborhood is full of restaurants, bars, and beautiful parks. There is a 24-hour Rite-Aid on the circle as well as a large supermarket right next door that is open till 11PM. The location couldn't be beat - walking distance to Adams Morgan, Logan Circle and Dupont Circle (8 mins to the metro). Street parking not too much of a problem if you don't mind walking a few blocks.
  • First off Art could not have made the apt easier to access. It was nice because he sent me all I needed to know previously so when I arrived we could go right in! The place looks great and has plenty of room. The second bed even though not in a separate room feels private and this is a great location. You can easily walk to the metro, so don't let your GPS fool you!

    Leigh2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Arrival was super easy. No hovering by our host, which is my personal preference. Information provided in apartment was very helpful (especially the subway guide). LOTS of books too!!

    Tadzia2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is in a great neighborhood with many restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. The unit is in an older building with several power strips to accommodate plugs. The neighbors were quiet. The design and layout made the place comfortable. There were a few small inconveniences but it did not take away from our stay.

    Janet2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Art's location is great--easy to walk to Dupont and Adams Morgan, and not too much further to the U Street Corridor. His place is big and ideal for more than one or two people. The weather took a turn while I was there and the heat was not on in the building for the winter yet, so I was very cold there--I suggested to Art to get a space heater for future guests. It wasn't my favorite AirBnB experience--kitchen shelves aren't all that clean or organized and some other things, but I stay in an AirBnb monthly, for work, so I have a lot of experiences to compare to.

    Johanna2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Art was a very good host, he explained everything what we needed and responded to our letters immediately. The apt is exactly as described, it is spacious, well equipped and clean. The location is the best possible for this city - we have been in Washington in the past and were looking only for this area. A really safe and beautiful part of the city. The apt can be recommended to any visitor - on business or for tourism.

    Elena2015-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly fine for business travel.

    Alexander2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. Looks exactly as the pictures. Great location. Really cute and original. Very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Just a 7 min walk to the Omni Shoreham hotel where our conference was. Art was a great communicator.

    Duane2014-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • We (two adults and two young children) stayed in Art's apartment for two nights while site seeing in DC. The accommodations and location were perfect. Following Art's advice, we walked from the apartment, downhill, to the National Mall -- it took approximately 20 minutes to reach the White House. When our young girls were exhausted at the end of the day, we made use of the Dupont Circle metro stop, which is only 5-10 minutes from the flat. There is a small grocery store right next door and so many restaurants nearby -- we had so many amazing meals! This will be our go-to place to stay the next time we are in DC.

Spectacular ground fl unit in Columbia Heights! It is located near the CH green & yellow line metro and DC USA restaurants & shopping. The space is private and great for both single travelers who want privacy or small families. I have hosted many different guests from all over the world as you can see by the tons of positive reviews. I do my best to take care of you during your trip so please let me know if you have any special needs. Feel free to reach out with questions or just instant book!
Feel free to reach out and ask any questions before booking. I try to respond to all inquiries within a few hours. I prefer long term stays for singles or groups. This is my unit in a classic Victorian row house but there are other separate units in the building so please be respectful of common areas like the front and backyard. As the pictures show the apartment has one futon suitable for sleeping 1 person, and two queen beds which can accommodate 2 people each. The space has separately zoned heating and air conditioning so each traveler can set their own temperature and comfort level. You have your own kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and basic pots/pans/utensils. There is a small desk for writing and reading. Bathroom has a shower with a tub and a small vanity. You also have your own washer/dryer in the unit next to the stars & stripes room. Like all downtown DC places storage is limited but the location is phenomenal and you're getting way more than you would in a cramped hotel.
This is a great location that has gone through a tremendous amount of redevelopment in recent years. You are within walking distance to the zoo, Adams Morgan nightlife, shops & food at Columbia Heights, and Florida Ave/U St entertainment. When I am in the area I usually eat at The Heights restaurant (3115 14th St NW, (202) 797-7227) right on 14th St. It is easy to get to from the unit and the food is always good. If you like Mexican food and margaritas there are many options, but Lauriol Plaza in Adams Morgan is one of my favorites. And if you are a 1st time DC visitor you should stop by Ben's Chili Bowl (1213 U St. NW Washington, DC. (202) 667-0909). The food is tasty and it is a DC landmark. OUTSIDE THE NEIGHBORHOOD: I have been asked for food recommendations a lot and for places in different areas of the city. For the farm to table restaurants, there is a place called "Founding Farmers" (1924 Pennsylvania Ave. NW - (202) 822-8783) that is in Foggy Bottom near the White House. I recommend getting the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer as they are delicious, and they have a variety of range meats/pasta/fish dishes to choose from for the entrée. I've always been able to walk in but sometimes it can get crowded on Friday/Saturday nights so you may want to make a reservation. They have another sister restaurant in Georgetown called Farmers Fishers Bakers (3000 K St NW - 202-298-8783) that you can order take-out from but I have never tried it. In Chinatown there is a place called Hill Country BBQ Market (410 7th St NW Washington, DC 20004 (202) 556-2050). It's a cool barbecue place where you can get great brisket, ribs, and cornbread in a self-serve market type environment. On the other end of the spectrum, if you're near Capitol Hill then you could check out The Monocle (107 D Street NE Washington, DC. (202) 546-4488). It's an old steak and seafood restaurant favored by members of Congress - though it is a bit pricey. DC is a fairly diverse city so there are tons of different ethnic choices as well if you're feeling adventurous. Dukem is an Ethiopian restaurant on U St and there is a tasty Nepalese-Indian restaurant on 18th St called Himalayan Heritage. And as much as I hate to promote random apps that I have no part of, there is an app called Spotluck which gives you 10-20% discounts on some DC restaurants that you may want to use while you are in the area.
  • The house is as advertised. It is clean and have enough household goods. The communication from Edward is quick and accurate. It is not far from metro. Edward provides us a guest parking pass so we can park on the street but it is challenging to find an empty spot. In general we are satisfied with the stay

Hey, If you've stumbled upon this listing lucky you. This quaint house, walking distance from the Metro is my parents property that I, their son, run and manage. This space is a representation of my vision of what I want as a creative space for entrepreneurs, and seasoned travelers. The more you stay here with us the more we can re-invest back in the property for future guests. We can't wait to meet you !
Takoma/Takoma Park, is a hidden gem in Northwest DC. About 20min from the heart of the city, it's a perfect place to escape to after a day of touring. This hardwood house is complete with a private room/ private bathroom and access to the shared spaces which include two decks, living room, dining room and kitchen.
Safe Neighborhood walking distance from the Red Line Takoma Park Station. Mainly families and young professionals! Please be mindful of the public alleyway next to our house and make sure not to block it when you arrive or leave. Our neighbors deserve as much respect as us Air B n B'ers give each other. Thank you !
  • This is very good value for the money. The location is excellent, the host are very nice, the communication was perfect. They gave us very good tips for visiting DC. We even saw two deer in the back yard! You get what you pay for, nothing fancy.

  • Dylan was such a warm, kind, intelligent and clear-hearted individual who is generous with his space and persona. I didn't know ahead of time that there was a cohort of male residents living at the house. But instead of this being a cautionary note to others... I want you to know what an extraordinary group of conscious, professional, low-key and wonderful group of men they are! Visiting with all of them was a tremendous gift that uplifted the end of a busy work weekend for me. These are the kind of global citizens that make something like the Air B&B platform work so well! They all reside on the upper level, and the guest quarters privately situated on the street level. The metro was a 7 minute walk away from the property and there is a private bathroom across the hall from the sleeping quarters for guests. The double bed was situated in a very spacious and clean room. Street parking seems a little tight in the neighborhood, but not necessarily prohibitive or problematic. There was a grumpy neighbor who seemed to have a chip on her shoulder about us unloading my bags too close to her property, but all was "smooth sailing" otherwise. Thank you Dylan. May you thrive and may our paths cross again sooner than later.

Recently updated self-contained one-bedroom basement apartment in 16th Street Heights. Well behaved pets are welcome! Great for small families, couple or single person traveling on business. Apartment comfortably sleeps 2 adults in the bedroom and two adults/children in the living room. Ideal for travelers wanting to be north of downtown DC, but with easy access downtown via three major metro bus lines. (5 miles to museums/monuments - - 45 minute bus ride or 25 minute car/Uber/Lyft ride).
Small, clean and updated one-bedroom basement unit located in a home. The unit has been updated with new paint, recessed light fixtures and new ceramic plank hardwood floors in hallway and living room. Bedroom has modern painted concrete floor. New tempurpedic queen bed in the bedroom and a futon sofa bed in the living room. Fully furnished kitchen with full size appliances, microwave, coffee maker and everything you need to feel at home. Sorry, no dishwasher! There is a SmartTV with Netflix, HuluPlus and Amazon, as well as all local stations. The unit has a window a/c unit in the bedroom that cools the space (with the help of a fan to circulate the air). It's location on the lower level of our house keeps the space naturally cooler than the rest of our house. There is also a full size washer and dryer in the apartment for your use during your stay. We live on the two levels above the apartment with our 10 year old son and two small dogs, so you might hear a little residual noise from above. But, we are a quiet family who goes to bed early so noise will be minimal.
    - The apartment is on 13th Street NW near Kennedy Street NW, which is known as Sixteenth Street Heights/Brightwood. There are restaurants accessible by short bus ride or Uber ride. There is a Walmart approximately 6 blocks north of the apartment. Our house is two blocks east of Rock Creek Park, a national park that bisects the District of Columbia. Park facilities include the Carter Barron Amphitheater and the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center, which is the home of the Citi Open tournament. Great facilities to walk dogs, bike and exercise.
  • Todd & Jorge's comfy & cozy place was perfect for us! It was an Airbnb renters dream! Fans were provided + AC in bedroom and all were turned on before we arrived, so the place was nice & cool. Although we did not get to see Todd & Jorge, they made the Check-in/Check-out process super easy & seamless. Their place had all the amenities to make your stay feel as if you were in your own home. The Keurig + k-cup variety was perfect from different teas to Starbucks coffee to hot chocolate - winner for my son every morning. Bonus on the washer/dryer in the place! The bed was super comfy especially after a long day of exploring. The pillows felt like I was laying my head on clouds. Rite-Aid & Wal-Mart only blocks away. If you don't mind hopping on a bus and metro a few stops away into the hustle & bustle of all the smithsonians, then I would highly recommend to stay here! I would stay at their place again without any hesitation!

    Michelle2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay! Todd & Jorge's place was spot on. The entrance into the apartment has been beautifully landscaped and thoughtful. I adored being greeted with cool air and fresh flowers. The decor was exactly as depicted. It was the perfect size for myself and daughters. The sleeping arrangements were accomodating not to mention very comfortable. The coffee bar was a life saver. The full size kitchen worked out well and had everything we needed. I loved the large shower in the bathroom. Having a washer and dryer to use if needed is a plus. Thank you for the fresh fruit and spring water! Without a doubt i will be booking again if available when i visit my daughter in college. Thanks again.

  • This has been our best stay ever! We just moved from Florida to DC and Todd and George made sure our transition process was smooth. We stayed at their beautiful apartment for a whole month with our two dogs and they really made us feel at home. Todd and George are extremely detail oriented. The apartment is beautiful, clean, and has everything you need. The bed is super comfortable with a new Tempurpedic mattress and awesome pillows. There's two extra futons that are super comfortable too. The towels are great too. The washer and dryer on site is a real plus. You will also have any cleaning supplies, toilet paper, shampoo, etc that you need The neighborhood is quiet and there is a bus stop very close by. Parking was never a problem! Todd and George were at all times very respectful of our privacy. We are really grateful with them and would not hesitate to stay in their place again and recommend it to anybody! Thank you guys!!

    Marie2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was very comfortable. The bed was perfect and they even had fresh flowers and fruit when we arrived. They made sure the futons were ready for our children. The room had plenty of space with the separate living area. It was also nice having the washing machine and dryer. The towels were plush and the linens were clean. We are very pleased. We will likely stay there again if we make another dc trip.

You want to spend your money on important things & not a bed you won't even see because you are exploring- then WELCOME. The room is in an upcoming URBAN area, has free street parking, 15-20 minute walk to metro, 2 blocks from buses (Go to Wmata website for travel details), $6-$8 by uber to downtown. Code for house to come/go as you please. Sheets will be in the hall closet for you to use, throw sheets in hamper after done. The rest of the shared spaces of the house have no furniture.
  • Good value

    Sankalp2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is probably along the lines of "sketchy," but being from D.C., I knew what to expect for the value. It's a simple, clean, cozy spot with an adorable house cat (heads up) ! He's harmless and playful. Akelo's spot is just right as a crash pad.

    April2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Akelo was a great host, he was extremely friendly and often asked if there were any issues with the place. At one point, my air mattress became damaged, and all I had to do was send Akelo a message. which he then replaced with a new one the same day. The only downside was perhaps the price - as I stayed here for over 6 weeks, I had hoped that there would be a weekly or monthly discount. I spoke to Akelo about this, but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done. The kitchen was generally clean, with simple cutlery and utensils so it was possible to cook regular meals, especially for me as I was staying for a long period of time. The wifi would drop out sometimes, but I only had to wait a few minutes before it returned to normal. The neighborhood was nice enough, but after an incident while walking back from the nearby metro station one night, I was more wary of my surroundings when walking around in the neighborhood, even during the day. But, the house security is excellent, with an automated lock on the front door and a lock on the private bedroom with your own key. All in all, Akelo is a excellent host, always ready to help. It's quite easy to get a hold of him; I usually messaged him if I had any issues with my stay.

    James2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with the host worked well, room corresponded the description. Thank you for a nice stay! The only thing I didn't like was that there were ants, both in the bedroom and in the kitchen.

    Reeta2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Akelo was a kind and gracious host! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in DC at his home.

    Ashley2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is closer to DC 15 mins but is in south east and is a bit noisy at night times may be due to proximity to main streets where I could hear all siren vehicles passing by. Room and washroom were clean. Rooms have Air mattress. Washroom is shared by 3 guests rooms in total. The sofa as shown in the pics didnt exist when i stayed, that maybe coz house was just renovated... All in all it was a near to good experience and perfect for a budget stay

Clean, cheap, and safe! Brand new comfy twin sized bed too!! The bedroom's door does not lock. If you are looking for an authentic experience, you will enjoy my home in NW neighborhood, Bloomingdale! It is so trendy these days. Come and experience it! Many new and exciting restaurants to try just walking distance from the home. Should you drive, you may use my visitor's pass, if it is available.
    Clean, cheap, safe!
The house is near grocery stores (Whole Foods and Safeway). There's a cleaners, farmers' market, yoga studio, and coffee houses (Big Bear/Windows). It is centrally located just five minutes from the 3rd Street Tunnel to head south to VA or NY Avenue to head north to NYC. The U-Street Corridor is just a 5-minute drive away.
  • The room is exactly as described in the description. Just a single bed uncomfortable in the middle of the room. The ground is not particularly very clean but we can live with it. That said, I would say that this Airbnb is more a relief housing than a place to sleep when you're in vacation.

  • We're very appreciative of Dr. Koura opening up her home to us. However, due to accentuated circumstances, we were unable to stay there.

    Bonita & Frank2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dr. Koura was very accommodating and helpful for my trip. The room was spacious and comfortable and worked great for my weekend getaway to DC! The neighborhood is quiet for DC and seems safe with lots of nighttime lighting on the streets. I would happily stay here again in the future!

  • Well-kept, clean, and convenient. Simple and spare, good value.

  • Dr. Koura is good host, we did not talk so many but she answered all my questions quickly. the location : house with good access to downtown, and have enough space for parking near the house. there are two Chinese restaurant near the house, they are take out only. my room, clean and big, but the bed was a little short for me,I am 180cm heigh. anyway, I had a good time in DC,thank you Dr. Koura

  • Dr. Koura was a wonderful host. I had the pleasure of meeting her while she was tidying the home. She was welcoming, full of energy, and knowledgable of the city. I felt well informed regarding the room prior to arriving and throughout the stay. She clearly conveyed her expectations for the check-in/out process and made sure that I had all of the necessary information for the stay prior to my arrival. The home was clean and I felt safe while there. I have no complaints and believe that the rental is perfect for those looking for a no-frills spot to stay while in the DC area. While the downstairs of the house is not available for use, there are good options in the area for those looking for a space to work/eat. I highly recommend Big Bear cafe. It is just two blocks from the home and has great wi-fi, coffee and light fare. Thank you again Dr. Koura for your hospitality!

  • Good Host, had some issues with the washer machine when we arrived but Cristina sent someone to fix it the next day. Didn't know that someone else lived in the basement so we were asked to keep noise down, haven a crew of 5 adult man wasn't easy, I had to constantly remind my crew to keep it down because of the lower level neighbors.

    CJ2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great for the value. It was definitely a new listing. In the future providing things like soap, ice, salt and pepper would be nice. The apartment was very very cold. We put the thermostat on like 83 and it still didn’t warm up.. ummm there were a ton of light bulbs that were out. But besides that, the place is cute and definitely has a ton of potential.

    Kodili 2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed my stay here with 8 others. Communication with the owner was always prompt and courteous. Parking was free and easy which is a huge plus in DC. And it was quiet inside. Would stay again!

  • I would avoid this place if you can. The floors were not cleaned, and there was mold on kitchen appliances. The host approved my early check-in request and then asked me to give her an additional $50 through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) which was confusing. She then would not let me check in early, even though she approve the request, and disputed the request that she approved going back and forth with me for several hours.

    Kristopher2017-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is exactly as pictured: clean, spacious, and bright. The location is convenient to Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan. During my stay, the stove and oven did not work and the gym key was not in the apartment. But assuming the host resolves those issues, it's a lovely place.

  • Great apartment. Only place I'll stay if I come back to D.C. Train station within walking distance was perfect.

  • Suzy's place was remarkably cozy, warm, and such an excellent choice for myself and my family during our first holiday trip to DC. Susy was wonderful host from afar, communicating any and all details needed for an efficient experience (we never had to reach out once with additional questions)! The unit is located in a very quiet, friendly neighborhood and steps away from the city. I would highly recommend the space to anyone looking for ease and comfort in DC and will more than likely stay here again during our next trip!

  • Place is in a really nice neighbourhood, close to everything you need (parties too :)) it's really clean, and I enjoyed my stay. Mahmood is an awesome guy, was a pleasure to meet him! I suggest this to everyone.

  • I stood at Mahmood's place with a friend for one night , and we really liked it. The place is cute and comfortable , the bathroom is nice and clean, and the bedroom is spacious. Communication was great , and checkin flexibility was perfect. Cool restaurants nearby as well. Great experience!

  • Me and my friend came to Washington for 2 days, check in was so early, and Mahmood helped us with it. Apartment and our room were very clean, modern and comfortable. Mahmood is so communicative and friendly person. Thank you so much for our good stay:)

  • A nice place in a quiet area, very close to public transport and shops. Would certainly stay there again. Mahmood is a lovely, chilled guy.

    Adam2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My experience staying with Mahmood was great! He was a great host who was very easy to talk to and very personable, but also gave me my space and privacy, which is good. The room along with the rest of the apartment was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable with a nice size chest of draws along with cupboard space if you need it. You have your own private access to the room, which was great cause I didn’t feel like I was disturbing him when I left to go to the Supermarket or the Target which are right up the street. The convenience of the area is really good being close to the Metro, many restaurants, along with a CVS. Its also one Yellow Line train ride away from Ronald Reagan Airport. These were all major pluses for me when I stayed there. I’m hoping to stay there again when I travel to DC in the near future.

Coming to D.C and don't want to stay at a chain hotel far from the fun and easy transportation? Stay with us! With a separate entrance, this 700 sqft 1 bed, 1 bath apt features open concept living/kitchen, incl. cable, internet, and washer/dryer.
This apartment has a separate entrance.
This is a large one bedroom basement apartment extremely close to the fun restaurants, bars, and other fun establishments on 14th St NW, U St NW, as well as Dupont Circle and Logan Circle. Beautiful architecture, and quiet, tree-lined avenues are all around. A large city park (Meridian Hill Park) is only 3 blocks away. But you have some of the most bustling areas of town just around the corner. This is a quiet oasis near a lot of fun! Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, shops and more are within a few blocks. There are a number of buses that will take you straight downtown to the White House, the Washington Monument, and the National Mall, to name a few. Walking time to the White House is only about 20-25 minutes! So close to everything while also being residential. We know our neighbors and they know us!
  • Fantastic location. Right down the block from trendy U Street/14th Corridor. Sara was great. Really helpful advice about the neighborhood which was greatly appreciated. The place was great size, well appointed and stocked perfectly. The bagels were a life saver. Would definitely stay again.

  • Austan and Sara's place is great. And they averred welcoming. There place is awesome and it totally fits the description. The neighbor hood is also great!

    Mike2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Quick to respond, accommodations just as advertised. Clean, comfortable and well furnished. I've spent 35 years in hospitality and I can say that Austan gets it. Neighborhood quiet, close to all forms of transportation and any kind of shopping you will need. Well done, well done.

  • I had a very pleasant stay! The apartment was exactly as shown in the pictures, it is private, well secured and just around the corner there are lots of bars and restaurants. All questions were answered quickly by the owner and there was a clear communication. I would definitely recommend this apartment for your stay!

    Eelco2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Greeted us personally on arrival. Nice apartment, well located. We likely will return. Thanks for a fine visit.

    Fred2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • There aren't words to say how much we enjoyed this wonderful place! It wasn't just that Austan and Sara have thought of *everything*—they also went to the trouble of making sure that it was all high quality, in perfect condition, and easily available. And that kitchen! I wanted to take it home with us. We did, in fact, end up cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner and there wasn't a single thing we needed that wasn't already supplied. The neighborhood is terrific, with absolutely everything you could look for. The Metro, restaurants, and Trader Joes (especially welcome to expats like me who sorely miss TJs) are all a very short walk from the house. Anybody who gets a chance to stay there will be lucky!

    Barb2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Super convenient check-in and the place is perfect - just the way it was in the listing. The apartment was extremely clean and tidy and everything you need was provided, from a printer to a washing machine/dryer. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Washington! Thanks Austan and Sara for making this a fantastic part of my DC experience!

    Marcos2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was in a brilliant location for our holiday, close to the metro for easy access to the city. And even one block away to plenty of bars and restaurants. The apartment itself was great and just as described. Our host helped whenever we needed and was always available for any questions that might have came up. Would definitely ask to use again if returning to DC.
