Places to stay in Wenhaston
Quiet & relaxing, perfectly positioned for exploring the Heritage coast (and with an eclectic book collection!) "The cottage has been everything we could possibly have wanted in a holiday retreat - warm, comfortable, divinely pretty and romantic!"
Welcome to Mill End From May to the end of August our aim is to let weekly Friday to Friday, short breaks will be considered at short notice if we have no weekly bookings. From September to the end of April any booking will be welcomed subject to our minimum of three nights. Please note we have seasonal pricing so make sure you have entered the dates you want to stay to get the right cost Recently refurbished, with new kitchen and new double glazed windows. Upstairs is the large, light, south facing bedroom with king size bed, armchairs and a coffee table. There is a TV with DVD player and a selection of DVDs. The bathroom is adjacent with a bath and a shower. Downstairs is the newly fully fitted kitchen/living/dining room with TV. It is a small room but sunny in summer and cosy in winter. There is a sofa bed for the occasional guest(s). (£15 for linen or bring your own) The kitchen has an oven, microwave and a 4 ring hob with cover which acts as a splashback when open. There is also a larder fridge, a freezer, a toaster and, of course, a kettle. There is a downstairs WC. The cottage has oil fired central heating. Immediately outside is a south facing terrace with a large table and an electric awning. If you have friends/family in the area you can entertain up to 10. The awning can act as a sunshade or an umbrella so even if it is drizzling it is still possible to be outside. It's an extra room! There is parking for one car. You have an exclusive private garden area - south-west facing, with a table and chairs and 2 "rocking loungers" ideal for relaxing and sunbathing - see picture. The whole garden, of which this is part, is designed mainly for wildlife - shrubs, trees and many scented hip bearing roses.
The Suffolk coast has many attractions. We have wonderful sunrises as well as sunsets in our garden. We have good bird and wild life. We are 3 miles inland from Walberswick and Southwold and close to Dunwich and Minsmere with many good walks. As well as the White Hart in Blythburgh, which has wonderful views over the estuary, there are excellent places to eat in the surrounding villages (The Anchor at Walberswick and Mains at Yoxford are in the good food guide). The nearby cafe at Darsham Nurseries has had very good reviews for unusual dishes. There are a number of farmer's markets and shops close by. Blythburgh is famous for its large and beautiful church, known as "the Cathedral of the Marshes". Concerts are held here as well as at Snape Maltings (25mins drive) during the Aldeburgh Festival and at other times of the year. The Latitude Festival (mid July) takes place about a mile from the village.
  • Delightful property . Comfortable and great location. Excellent recommendations for eating out from the hosts.

  • Lovely cosy cottage, everything we needed was provided. A warm welcome from Roderick and Claire as well. Comfortable bed and hot showers were much needed after a days walking. Was perfect for our short break in Suffolk. Their local knowledge came in very useful for amazing evening meals. Check the garden out, something different around every corner,a real work of art.

  • Roderick gave very quick response to our questions reference bringing a dog which may not be to apparent on the web site . The property is easy to find and its position on the suffolk coast is ideal for striking out to many of the coast towns. The property is ideal for two people , warm and very homely with all the facilities you could wish for . The owners live in the same building and are very helpful as you would expect.

  • The stay in the Shepherds Hut was so lovely. It is decorated to a high standard, even the radiators are to die for! Perfect little getaway where we spent our Saturday in Southwold, followed by a Sunday exploring Dunwich Heath. Diane left us essential items and fresh bread/slices of cake! The log burner was perfect after a long day out exploring. So peaceful, relaxing and cosy! We will definitely try to rebook in the summer. A must visit and excellent value for money!

  • Idyllic stay, perfect location to unwind, facilities cater to all needs, comfy bed, Diane was a great host - welcoming with fresh bread and snacks provided! Highly recommend..

  • Really lovely place to stay, so clean and spacious (moreso than expected) with lovely touches like homemade bread and lager in the fridge. The fire was lovely also. It wasn’t very clear where it was located until we were right outside the property and that was a little stressful, also the oven was manually lit and I had to ask how to work it so I felt a bother having to keep asking dianne questions but she did respond quickly. all round excellent choice.

    Cat2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was more spacious than we had expected, comfortable bed, large shower and an amazing log burner. Cakes and fresh baked bread delicious.

The Stables is a gorgeous property set in the stunning Suffolk countryside, within close proximity to Southwold and many wonderful Suffolk attractions. Perfect for families and groups with an ensuite in each bedroom and open plan kitchen and dining area. Whether it's sitting by the wood fire burner with a glass of wine or enjoying the beautiful walks on your doorstep, this property has something for everyone.
The Stables is a unique home which was originally converted from a stable and recently refurbished in to a modern and cosy home. Each bedroom has it's own ensuite making it perfect for a group or family booking. The living room has a sofa bed which can accommodate two extra people. No detail has been forgotten, from luxurious linen from The White Company through to fun garden games for all the family! The open plan kitchen and dining area make the property perfect for entertaining. The kitchen is decked out with brand new appliances, making it perfect for whipping up a meal using delicious local produce (there's a fantastic farm shop down the road). The living room has a wood fire burner ready to go with enough wood to keep you warm during your stay. There are numerous books, games (for young and old!), music, DVDs, to keep you entertained, as well as countless walks and bird watching opportunities for anyone feeling a little more active. We are also very excited to offer a large wood fire hot tub perfect for up to 8 people, which we offer as an optional extra at a charge of £49 for the weekend to cover wood and running costs. Please let us know if you'd like to book the hot tub for your stay! We have also recently planted a woodland area beside the property with a pond which guests can visit, and we have a resident barn owl if you're lucky enough to spot him!
Set on the idyllic Sotterley estate, the property is surrounded by farms and woodland, with the market town of Beccles only a 10 minute drive away. We own the surrounding farmland so you're able to go for lovely walks, including an ancient woodland very close to the property.
  • Fantastic space with everything a family could want. Thoroughly recommend this place, easily accessible to beaches and woodland. The house is dog friendly and very clean and we had a brilliant time!

    Jo2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place. We visited the first week of January and it was stunning. The grounds are perfect out the way and very scienic, we took a drive down to a pub around 7 mins drive called the Fox it was great and we had a great meal there. We also took a 20 minute drive down to Southwold beach it was stunning with a dog friendly beach. We couldn’treccomend the house enough we all loved every minute of it! Thank you again Anna’s communication was great she was very attentive and happy to help us! Will be returning in the summer!

    Danielle2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s home is really lovely. It’s in a very private, excluded location making it perfect to relax and enjoy the countryside. There’s great walks on the doorstep, our dogs & babies both loved it! The layout of the stables is great with no stairs and comfortable big bedrooms with en-suites. The wood fired hot tub is worth a go as well, incredibly peaceful chilling out in that under the stars! We would definitely recommend and would stay again.

    Simon2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Anna’s place was so much better than we had expected. It was so private with spectacular views, and had such a homely feel to it. We loved spending a cosy day in by the fire and then using the hot tub again. Perfect for a few days away!

    Lucia2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic country home for a quiet break in beautiful scenery. Close to areas of natural beauty this home is a perfect place for a group to get away. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The hot tub was excellent and kept us warm at night.

    Nathan2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful stay in wonderful surroundings! Everything we expected and more.

    Charlie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a relaxing break.

    Denise2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Anna was so easy to communicate with, the house was a PERFECT escape from busy London. No other people around at all, off the beaten track and with an awesome hot tub. Only thing I would say is to perhaps check if anyone is staying in the small property as that is right next to you so if you want complete peace then just check. Everything within 5 - 10 minutes drive that you could possibly want - fantastic little farm shop really close too! Thanks so much Anna...we will be back! xx

This pretty holiday cottage is 3 minutes walk from a stunning swimming beach and in the heart of well known seaside favourite, Walberswick. Steps from a Gastro pub and a lovely village green with playground, shops and cafe. Perfect for romantic getaways & family holidays.
Spacious downstairs living room /kitchen with fully equipped kitchen and all mod cons. Great for dining and playing family games. The cosy sitting room features a log fire, perfect to snuggle down in winter. In summer the kitchen opens up to a garden with seating for 4 people , a beautiful spot to catch the sun's rays and read the weekly newspapers. The bathroom is located on the ground floor and the two bedrooms on the first floor. Both bedrooms feature convenient basins ,
This is the most wonderful traditional quiet seaside village with everything you ever need minutes away. The Tuck Shop is three minutes which has everything you need from washing powder to ice creams. The village green hosts a number of shops and a cafe serving delicious lunch and teas. If you walk 5 minutes from the cottage, you reach the river which can be crossed by traditional hand rowed ferry and then a lovely walk to the quaint town of Southwold. Or take the Kissing Bridge to cross over further down the river. There are some fantastic walks to Dunwich, Blytheburgh , across marshes filled with stunning birds. It's an bird watching and hiking paradise. Walberswick is famous for its crabbing. The National Crabbing Championships used to be held here until it became too popular. Children of all ages delight in catching crabs using a simple line, weight and some bacon. Of course we put them back after catching. The Shepherd's best haul has been over 100 in one sitting but we have had years of practice. And at the end of the day, The Anchor pub or The Bell Inn (both within a stones throw) offer hearty organic meals, great Adnams ales and wines or a yummy locally caught fish and chips.
  • The cottage was lovely and cosy with heaters as well as a log fire. The location was excellent within walking distance of all amenities and with two excellent pubs on the doorstep. Would thoroughly recommend.

Light streams into the sociable living space in this stylish self-catering holiday house, luxuriously furnished in a contemporary style retaining many features of its former coach house days with beautiful beams, reclaimed wood flooring and cosy wood burner. A wooden deck wraps around the house so you can simply chill and enjoy the hot tub, fishpond, tranquility and wildlife; or explore the Suffolk countryside, seaside towns and coast close by. Sleeps 6 I 2 King Bedrooms I 1 Twin Bedroom I 1 Bathroom I 1 En Suite Shower Room with Separate Bath
The light and airy living/kitchen/dining room sits at the heart of this characterful property - cosy in the winter thanks to the wood-burner with cooking chamber; perfect for indoor/outdoor living in the spring and summer with wall of glazed doors opening onto the deck. The original beamed wooden ceiling remains from days gone by when the property was a coach house where the horses and coaches could be taken into the pond for cleaning. All three bedrooms are generous and stylish, with the master on the ground floor being particularly lavish with grand four-poster bed, free-standing bath and en suite shower room. Fascinating artwork belonging to the prominent art collector owner is displayed throughout, this superb accommodation. Fishpond House sits in an exceptionally tranquil spot on private land, conducive for total relaxation on a short break or holiday with friends and family, with just the owners house, peacocks and frequent donkeys for neighbours! The hot tub gives the ultimate in decadence, sitting on a deck furnished for dining in the dappled light filtering through willow trees overhanging the pond. Ground Floor To the right of the hallway is the master bedroom with double doors to the deck and door to the shower room. There’s a step down to the main living area and open tread stairs to the first floor. Reclaimed wood flooring from a gymnasiam runs through the house. Living Space Step into the hallway with cubby holes for your footwear, hooks for your coats, an open treadstaircase to the first floor landing and a step down to the living space. The area is cleverly divided with traditional kitchen units running along one wall with a built in oven, four ring ceramic hob, upright fridge/freezer (four drawer), built in microwave and a washer dryer. The unique dining table sits in the light by the windows with six spindle back chairs; a gorgeous wicker hanging chair is positioned so you can curl up with a good book or simply gaze at the view. Furnishings are sumptuous with a chic velvet sofa and chair, footstool and retro-mirrored coffee tables, all snuggled around the TV and wood-burner where you’re sure to have some fun making toast or baking a potato in the cooking chamber. Master Bedroom Simply gorgeous with the four poster bed taking pride of place beneath the double height beamed ceiling, opposite double doors to the deck - convenient for the hot tub! The luggage rack invites you to unpack with a corner unit providing hanging and shelf space. Additionally there’s a bookcase and desk/dressing table with chair under the window. For added indulgence there’s a modern free standing bath in the corner of the room with hand shower. En Suite Shower Room The double shower cubicle has a rain and hand shower; there’s a WC wash-basin and heated towel rail. First Floor Open tread painted stairs rise to the first floor where both bedrooms and the bathroom open off the landing with desk and chair. The first floor also has wooden floorboards and beautiful beamed ceilings. Bedroom Two The Juliette balcony is a special feature in this room that has a king-size bed, side shelves and plus a cupboard with shelves for your storage and hooks on the door if you’re wanting to hang some clothes. Bathroom Conveniently between the two bedrooms. Natural light from a skylight above the bath floods this charming bathroom with its feature Victoria and Albert claw foot bath, reclaimed sink, WC and heated towel rail. Bedroom Three Wake to the view of the pond and fields beyond. Twin beds sit either side of the door with bedside units and there’s storage in a wardrobe with hangers and a shelf. Outside Fishpond House sits on a private estate with an uneven private drive taking you past fields and round the back of the property where you'll find parking for two cars and an external plug for anyone needing to charge an electric car. A wooden deck wraps around two sides of the house, overhanging the pond on one side, with furniture for outside dining and doors from the dining/kitchen area making it easy to eat in the open air. The hot tub sits on the deck at the side of the property, conveniently close to the master bedroom. At the side is a lawn with graceful willow trees rustling in the breeze however, due to the grass being sown in the winter, the area's not well established as yet.
This substantial holiday house is in a great location for exploring all that the picturesque Suffolk Coast has to offer, with fashionable Southwold just six miles away with a sandy beach, iconic pier and excellent range of shops, eateries and, for beer lovers, home to the famous Adnams Brewery. From a practical perspective, the market town of Halesworth is just three miles away, with a good selection of both independent shops and supermarkets, a railway station with connections to Liverpool Street and The Cut Arts Centre with a two-week arts festival in the autumn. Halesworth Golf Club is close by, there are plenty of amazing walks and cycle roots, fishing and sailing close by. Bird lovers are sure to enjoy the fantastic birdlife right on the doorstep or go further afield to Minsmere Nature Reserve.
  • A lovely property with beautiful art work which was cosy. Hosts were showed thoughtfulness. We hope to go back again!

  • Flint cottage is the perfect place for a holiday in Suffolk and it's not far from places like Southwold and Aldeburgh. The cottage is very cosy, clean and well equipped. The bedroom is lovely and the bathroom is a good size. The garden is beautiful too and it's very peaceful around the cottage. There was a folder with places to visit and things to do and Julia had even left a bottle of wine for us. Parking was easy as we were able to leave our car right outside the cottage. We would definitely love to come back for another stay here.

A DVD player is connected to the TV which has all Freeview channels. DVDs and games are provided as well as a selection of information about the local area. The bedroom has a king-size bed, two roomy built-in wardrobes with hangers, bedside cabinets and lamps. There is a full size mirror and hairdryer. I have a good quality travel cot/changing mat as well as a sturdy highchair on request. The bright, airy shower-room has a double shower with toiletries, hand and bath towels for each guest, loo, sink with storage underneath, a well lit mirror and shaving point. There is a useful coat cupboard with clothes dryer, ironing board/iron and a 'doggie box' that contains throws for the sofas, old towels, a drinking bowl, doggie treats and poo bags. A bin is provided in the garden for the disposal of any dog poo.
Walpole is a quiet village, with some lovely circular walks and excellent cycling. The Harmony Centre is situated close by to Robin's Rest which offers a range of alternative therapies. Halesworth is a 5 minute drive away and has a large Co-op supermarket (with bakery), a wide range of local shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes, a Wednesday market, library, Town Trail, and large park (with play area and skatepark). There is a Boots chemist and an emergency minor injuries service at the doctors surgery (see info folder).
  • We’ve just returned from a weekend at Sarah’s place, our fourth. We feel so comfortable there and would highly recommend it. The location is convenient for Halesworth town with its shops, pubs and green spaces. The Suffolk coast is close by car. There is so much to do in the area and then you return to the haven of Sarah’s place. This was our first visit as dog owners. Daisy and her cousin were most welcome and Sarah has a well stocked ‘doggy box’. We love it here 😍

  • Stayed here for a birthday treat. Absolutely perfect stay. Great location and amenities, especially the visitor book with lots of info in for local attractions etc. Thank you, Sarah!

  • We stayed at Robin’s Rest for a few nights and it was perfect - so comfortable and cosy and thoughtful. Hope to stay again! Thanks Sarah ☺️

  • Robin's rest is the perfect place to have a weekend getaway with your family. Very peaceful, I really enjoyed seatting outside in the back garden reading a book with a warm blanket and a cup of tea while my kids were inside playing. The cabin is equipped with everything that you may need, and the host Sarah is very nice and friendly. Highly recommended!

  • We have just returned after 4 nights at Robin's Rest and I have to say this was the best stay we ever had! We have had a few! But this little bungalow was perfect for us in every way, we took our small dog and there was a wonderful fully fenced off garden with a decking and enough grass for her to run around and sniff the 'sniffs' with particular mention to the rabbit sniffs that she got very excited about! She particularly enjoyed sitting on the decking on 'guard' to make sure none of those pesky hoppers got in to the garden! Sarah had provided pooh bags, treats, even food, blankets and throws for the sofas and even a special outside bin for the pooh bags. The kitchen was great very self contained with lovely clean units and lots of work space, I particularly liked the recycling boxes with clear instructions of how to use them. There was so much information in the folder that Sarah had put together, if you wanted to see it, do it, find it, it was in that folder and everything that wasn't, was clearly labelled and/or explained. There was lots of cupboard space, 2 wardrobes with a deep shelf each and plenty of room for a shoes, bags and cases, there were also 2 bedside cabinets with 3 drawers each, which was great for underwear and make up and things. The bed was a king size which I was very pleased about, I don't like small beds! There was a large shower with plenty of hot water and complimentary and very good quality toiletries, I never normally use them as they tend to be cheap and sometimes nasty, but these were Tresemme and Soap and Glory, the toilet paper was also a good quality tissue. There were also complimentary teas, coffees and sugar, which I was very pleased to find as I had forgotten my sweeteners only to find a jar with lots in! Everywhere was absolutely spotless, so very clean, compact and well organised. I would definitely recommend Sarah's place, we will definitely visit again.

  • Perfect, quiet, peaceful getaway for a few days to relax. Everything you could possibly need......and more!!!

  • This was my second stay at Robin's Nest and for the second time it was faultless. Sarah is great host and the nest is always sparkling clean with everything you need for staying away. Sarah is very attentive and communication is perfect. Can't wait to stay again!

  • Simon and Rebecca's cabin is such a beautiful and spacious living area. We enjoyed our cosy nights in by the fire and it was a great location to get to Dunwich forest and to Southwold for a long dog walk on the beach. 100% would recommend!

    Tom2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is accurate as to the listing, and perhaps even more beautiful once you're inside and can see all of the touches. We spent most of our time in the cabin as the weather wasn't great, and it was so cozy with the fire going. Very comfortable space in a quiet location. Just what we were looking for.

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Best placed we’ve stayed in on the Suffolk coast (and we’ve been coming here for years). Super cosy venue with all the right touches in terms of privacy, space, cleanliness and location. We felt right at home which was great as Storm Dennis make the weekend challenging at times. Looking forward to booking again for our next trip.

    Richard2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin that feels like home over a long weekend. We loved the furnishings, which made it a great space to relax. We stayed over storm Caira so can confirm the cabin can withstand winds of up to 70mph! Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Yassen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was such a cosy spot for us to escape to during a miserable January, especially with the log burner and blankets. It's very nicely decorated and everything that we needed to cook our own dinner was available in the kitchen. We enjoyed watching the birds out of the kitchen window and can imagine that the porch/deck is great to sit on in warmer weather. The bed was super comfortable too! We'll be back.

  • My partner, puppy & I had a wonderful stay at the Cabin. It was the perfect winter get away. The whole place was decorated beautifully and the log burner was amazing after a busy day out walking. Rebecca and her husband were so helpful and always on hand if we needed anything. Would definitely recommend!

A rural retreat in the Suffolk countryside, wonderful open views to fields and wildlife. 15 minutes from the coastal town of Southwold, 5 minutes from Dunwich Heath, Minsmere bird reserve and 20 minutes from Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh.
Everything needed for a comfortable stay, with lovely views , wildlife and amazing sunsets.
The village is small and quiet with just a pub and butchers and horse riding stables. There is a petrol station cafe, shop and flower nursery 1.5 miles in the other direction. This has petrol, food, off licence and a cash point. Dunwich , Southwold, Halesworth and Minsmere are 5-15 minutes away. All of the coastline is very pretty and accessible with great places to eat and drink. Lovely areas to walk within woodland, beaches or Heathland. We have further information at the house and can suggest places for a variety of interests and activities.
  • The Snug is a great place to stay whilst exploring the local Suffolk coast line. There is an amazing bakery 2 mins away in Darsham and the lack of phone signal means you can switch off and unwind. The house is perfectly located for exploring Southwold and Aldeborough and is very clean and perfectly hosted.

  • What a lovely little property. It was just my little dog and I but definitely spacious enough for a couple. The garden was fenced off securely so was able to just leave my back door open. There were lovely cosy touches likes dvds to use and books, local info, some milk, coffee and even biscuits (thank you). Bed comfy, clean towels left out, spotlessly clean throughout. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Rush Cabin is in the rear garden of our cottage, on a rural lane just outside of Southwold. It is a nicely proportioned, self-contained unit in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with delightful, unspoilt views of the Benacre Marshes and the sea in the distance. It has heating and air conditioning. Guests have off-street parking for one car and everything you need for a peaceful break - with beautiful Southwold just down the road. We have solar and use a renewable-only energy supplier.
Welcome to Rush Cabin. Our cabin centres around a main space with lounge, dining area and a sleeping area with a kitchenette (with two ring gas hob and combi-oven/microwave). It has a fridge freezer, sink etc and a small island unit for preparing food. The cabin has a double sofa and a double bed in the main space, you have a distinct area for sitting, dining and sleeping. The cabin has a small dining table inside with 3 chairs. For families who request 4 guests, we can provide an additional chair on request and an extra child's 'z-bed' for the floor of the main space. There is a hanging rail for clothes, a TV and a variety of storage units. The cabin has a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. There is a small separate bedroom with a single fold-away bed and a set of drawers, the bedroom is decorated for a young guest but can be used for an adult. Please note the fold-away bed is adult size but not a permanent single bed. It is a 'put-you-up' bed with an extra memory foam layer for comfort. We've had guests of all ages sleep on it happily but we just want to flag it's not a normal single bed. The bedroom will fit 1 guest, if you are a family of 4, be aware one of the children will be accommodated in the main space with you. From the cottage and cabin, we often see Muntjac Deer, pheasants (normally in the garden), owls, Buzzards, Marsh Harriers, bats, hares and rabbits by the dozen. Keep your eyes peeled for nature spots. The stars at night are spectacular as we don't have much light pollution. We allow guest parking on the drive for 1 car. There is a WiFi network in the cabin (details are in the house manual for guests). We provide bed linen and towels for all guests, plus all of the essentials listed the amenities section.
We live on a quiet, rural lane on the outskirts of Reydon, which is the village next to and connected to Southwold. The cabin has stunning views of an RSPB reserve, fields and the sea and provides peace & quiet away from the crowds of town.

  • Had a great weekend at Rush Cabin and Jess made sure it was ready with those little extras that make things so much better. Plenty of room for us and our little one with a great view of the fields and the bird life. Only one minor niggle - the blinds are hard to operate (esp. for someone less burly) but otherwise we would not hesitate to recommend a stay!

This single storey accommodation was superbly renovated with old beams and shutters complimented quality furnishings, accessories and equipment throughout. The private deck, perched next to the moat, is an idyllic spot to simply relax and enjoy the surroundings and wildlife. The coast is only a 15 minute drive away and if you bring your own rods, you can fish in the pond.
Our guests say: "We loved our home from home in the Milk Parlour. The wine and biscuits were a lovely touch. The Milk Parlour is in a great location for all the visits we made: Southwold, Aldeburgh, Minsmere, Blythburgh Church and a bus ride to Norwich etc. We stayed a week and enjoyed coming back to the peace of the garden. The highlight of the garden was watching the mother duck and her nine ducklings in the moat."
Milk Parlour lies in the village of Spexhall, surrounded by the idyllic Suffolk countryside offering country walks or cycling and easy access to the old market towns of Bungay, Beccles and Halesworth with an excellent array of local shop and eateries. The 500 year old ‘Huntsman and Hounds’ pub is approximately a ten minute walk away and, as well as offering good cuisine by the fire or in the mature gardens. The Suffolk Heritage Coast to the east includes the popular Georgian seafront town of Southwold, home to the Adnams Sole Bay brewery. There are excellent sporting and leisure facilities in the area including a number of golf courses, sailing and water sports on the river estuaries as well as fishing, horse-riding and bird-watching.
  • Fantastic accommodation and hospitality, would definitely recommend a stay at the Milk Parlour.

Our little wooden cabin, in Walpole, Suffolk is set on its own within our 3/4 acre peaceful and abundant garden and is ideal for two people, either as a quiet retreat or as a place to explore the beautiful suffolk coastline approx 10 miles away
The cabin is self contained and recently refurbished with 3 rooms: a small kitchen (equipped with a 2 ring gas hob, microwave and fridge), plus the basics when you arrive to make a cup of tea or coffee with milk and cereals for your breakfast. There is a shower room and a bed / sitting room with a small TV and DVD player, a selection of books and DVD’s and french windows facing south. Situated at the top of our beautiful garden there is space to sit privately behind the cabin. We grow much of our own produce including soft fruit and vegetables, mixed fruit trees and have a small flock of 5 hens! Walpole is a small village 2 1/2 miles west of Halesworth on the B1117, known for it's beautiful old chapel, described as 'one of the most intriguing buildings in east anglia' a place of independent and non conformist worship since the mid 17th century! Used now for occasional concerts and meetings and well worth a visit. Our cabin is an ideal spot from which to explore the local county-side and the suffolk coast. We can explain where the local walks are (being a dog owner we walk them often!) and we are 10 miles from the coastal town of Southwold and the picturesque fishing village of Walberswick across the River Blyth. We are also 10 miles from RSPB Minsmere reserve and 15 from Snape Maltings. Our local market town of Halesworth (5 mins drive away) still has many family run small businesses, cafes and pubs, an active arts centre with a theatre and weekly film showings plus a train station with an hourly service to Ipswich (change here for connections to London, Liverpool street) and Lowestoft.
We still feel in coastal suffolk that we are tucked away from the hustle and bustle of busy life but are easily accessible by road or trains from London.
  • Very clean and cosy. It has everything you need and more. Lots of information on local walks and places to visit. I could not fault the accommodation at all. Great for local walks and only a short drive to the next town. In particular, we liked The White Hart with great food and a great band. Focus the organic shop and cafe is worth going in. Very frioendly with great food and gifts to buy.

  • We had considered a B&B but wanted something unique and different yet homely and this property delivered on all counts. The cabin was so well appointed and clearly a lot of thought had gone into what would be helpful to have on our arrival such as milk, cereals, tea, coffee, sugar etc. Whilst we visited in the winter it was well insulated and so we were nice and toasty. Nice and private and served as an excellent base to explore the area. Southwold/Walberswick/Dunwich all within 20 mins drive.

  • Mary and Bob are wonderful hosts and were quick to respond to any questions we had as well as supplying fresh ground coffee, milk and some beautiful garden flowers, a lovely touch. We visited some excellent nature reserves and RSPB sites. Pretty towns such as Aldeburgh and Southwold are only 25 minutes away. All in all a great four days. Thanks again Mary and Bob.

The annexe sits within the grounds of a 1/2 acre, nature-friendly garden in the village of Blyford. Halesworth is just a mile away, with trendy Southwold a 15 minute bus ride from the village. RSPB Minsmere on the beautiful Suffolk coast, is also nearby.
It is separate from the main house with it's own front door, plus a shower room and kitchenette. There is no central heating but guests can set the timer on an efficient oil-filled radiator, plus there is a heated towel rail in the shower room.
Blyford has a good food pub nearby, but please note there is only a grass verge on some parts of the route, if you choose to walk. Alternatively there is another pub in the neighbouring village of Wenhaston, a 1 hour walk along the river.

Set in the delightful Suffolk countryside, Strawberry Hill is surrounded by fields so has magnificent views across the Blyth valley. Wenhaston is just a ten minute drive from Southwold with its Blue Flag beach, pier, lighthouse, shops and restaurants. Drive inland and within ten minutes you are in the traditional market town of Halesworth. Enjoy luxury and comfort in the tranquility of the countryside, watching the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, relaxing in our spacious lounge or garden.
I have one double bedroom with newly refurbished shower room en suite. Also a large modern lounge/dining room for your use, where there is another TV and plenty of working space. This leads into a conservatory with comfortable seats. Venture further and you are welcome to stroll or sit and relax in the garden. At breakfast time the courtyard by the pool is the place to enjoy the morning sun. The hammock by the pond is perfect for coffee time, while the seats in the corner by the front door catch the last evening rays of sunshine. We serve continental breakfast (wherever you choose!), but full English is also available to order at a small extra cost. Our solar heated pool is usually beautifully warm by the end of May until the end of September. You can book hourly slots and there is a small charge towards its upkeep. Please let me know in advance if you would like to use the pool so that I can ensure availability.
Suffolk Coastal is an area with a beautiful coastline of beaches and rivers full of birds and other wildlife. It is punctuated by pretty villages and lovely old pubs where you can enjoy a pint of local ale or eat a delicious meal of locally produced food. Wenhaston is a vibrant and delightful village with several heaths, a network of walks and St Peter's is famous for "The Doom". The Cut in Halesworth has a programme of theatre, concerts and cinema; Southwold Summer Theatre is always worth a visit; Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh and of course Latitude Festival are all within a few miles of the village. Birdwatchers will find RSPB Minsmere just down the coast. Take a day trip north, you are soon in the Norfolk Broads and if castles are of interest, we have two contrasting styles at Orford and Framlingham, as well as Norwich Castle with its changing museum exhibitions.
  • Christine made us very welcome with a lovely cup of tea and home made scone on arrival. Her home is cosy and comfortable with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It's a perfect location for local sightseeing including the coast. A lovely village setting with a good pub with great food.

The Cottage is set within our beautiful 1.5 acre garden. We are well-placed to explore Suffolk's beautiful beaches, Minsmere, Southwold and pictureque Walberswick. The Cottage has a king size bed, a walk-in shower, modern kitchen, patio and private car park.
The Garden Cottage is ideal for two people and it is set on its own in our peaceful garden. Located just outside the village along a country lane, it is only 10 to 15 mins drive from the beautiful towns of Dunwich, Walberswick and Southwold on the Suffolk coast and the lovely market town of Halesworth. It’s ideally placed for exploring the beautiful Suffolk and Norfolk countryside.
Enjoy walking on the village's 4 heaths with their own native vegetation and wildlife. Local country lanes are ideal for cycling. The surrounding countryside is very rich with diverse wildlife habitats. Birds such as woodpeckers, finches, tits, robins, pheasants and partridges frequent the garden, nightingales can sometimes be heard in spring and the occasional barn owl might be spotted hunting the valley at the end of the garden. Nearby Minsmere and the coastal salt marches provide habitat for wading birds such as avocets and curlews, whilst the heath across the road hosts a range of native and migrant birds such as linnets, warblers and nightingales. There are many good walks in the area, especially on the coastal strip from Southwold to Alderburgh. The region is unspoilt by motorways and old fashioned windy country lanes abound.
  • Feri and Steve were welcoming and kind. It felt like a very private place to stay. We loved staying in the cottage, watching the birds and enjoying the quiet. The maps leaflets of things to do were really helpful in planning our days out and our soft bed was a joy to snore in . The cottage was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Hope we can come back again!

    Suzanne2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Feri and Steve were very welcoming and friendly. The cottage was spotless and full of everything you might need for a stay - with the solar-powered roof windows & blinds providing a modern twist! The sun room at the rear was a great place to unwind and watch the birds feeding outside on the terrace. All in all a lovely, relaxing stay in the middle of the wonderful Suffolk countryside!

    Jon2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to stay. Spotlessly clean and everything you need. Feri and Steve went above an beyond to ensure my brief stay was a pleasurable one.

    Tom2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place - great location for exploring the local area. Very helpful and thoughtful hosts who left us to our own devices (but who were there if we needed them). Small village shop is extremely close to the cottage (2 min walk to the campsite down the road), despite the very peaceful rural location. Superb shower and bathroom facilities, and excellent private outside sitting area and garden. Would definitely recommend.

    Stephen2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Spent an another lovely annual retreat away at Feri and Steve's. Lovely experience yet again and amazing hosts!

    Tim2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great, well-equipped little cottage in a quiet location with good views. It's been recently decorated and was spotlesslessly clean on arrival. Feri and Steve were flexible and friendly but happy to leave us to ourselves - and their directions to the location were spot on. There's a little shop less than 5 mins walk away, and the village pub is not much further, though in busy periods I'd recommend booking ahead. If we're back in the area, we'll certainly be looking to see if they can accommodate us.

    Rachel2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden Cottage is nestled in lovely gardens and surroundings. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated with attention to the finer details. The garden is absolutely amazing and we spent our mornings/evenings enjoying it. The space in the house is abundant for two, especially the kitchen and bathroom are done to a high standard. Steve and Feri were very hospitable and welcoming. Communication was easy and prompt. Would highly recommend!

    Devika2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Garden Cottage is a lovely spacious home in which to stay. I spent a few days cycling and Feri and Steve were more than accommodating about storing the bike safely. They were friendly hosts and the cottage was spotlessly clean.

Our guests say: "Such a peaceful and relaxing setting. Beautiful furnishings and a a very warm welcome (the homemade brownies were a real treat!). • A great location to discover Suffolk and the coast with the delightful small towns of Bungay and Halesworth close by. Tasteful barn conversion has lots of light and space and is very quiet. Good facilities for self catering. Footpaths across the fields close to property so dog friendly too. Nice touches of wine plus homemade jam and shortbread on arrival too. Good local advice in the folder. Had a very chilled holiday.

Very comfortable an although the property is close to the main dwellings, once you enter the barn you could be in an isolated location. This is due to the very clever convertion. We had a really relaxing stay. Would highly recommend it

  • Great stay at Debra's place. The Secret Shed was the perfect getaway in the English countryside and a lovely cosy night in.

    Alexander2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Secret Shed. We were running in a nearby race in Dunwich so the location was perfect for us. The space was a lot bigger than we were expecting and lovely and quiet and secluded. Debra was really helpful and had left lots of breakfast goodies which were greatly appreciated. We’ll definitely be back!

    Ruth2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Debra’s place was an absolute delight. It was beautifully decorated, quite spacious and such a peaceful place. Wish we could stay longer. Thank you for being an amazing host!

  • Debra fitted us in at the last minute due to our booked accommodation having to cancel at the last minute. The Secret Shed is 15 minutes away from Southwold and Minsmere, so for us, location wise ideal. Facilities are brilliant; offroad parking, a serene and tranquil spot, a very spacious accommodation with everything that you could wish for including great breakfast items, a brilliant wet room, lovely comfortable beds, sofas, games, DVDs and lovely touches like fresh flowers on the table. Debra was there to meet us and to give us a quick tour round the accommodation explaining important issues such as heating but then leaving us to enjoy the peace and quiet. We would certainly return if in the area again.

Little Owl Cottage is set a stones throw away from Dunwich beach, overlooking Dingle Marsh Nature Reserve. With the Suffolk Coastal Path right on the doorstep this is the perfect cottage to escape from it all and take in all the beauty that the Suffolk Coast has to offer. With two large bedrooms, an extensive open plan living/kitchen area and a private south facing courtyard this 18th Century cottage is a little piece of heaven in the sleepy village of Dunwich.
With exposed, original beams throughout this cottage started off its life in the 18th Century as the cart shed for the main farm. The space is on one level so is perfect for those who find climbing stairs a little more difficult.
Dunwich is a sleep coastal village set on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Steeped in history the village was once a large trading port but due to many storms in the 12th Century much was lost to the sea. The village still boasts a village pub, the Ship Inn, and also a fabulous Tearooms, Dingle Hill Tearooms.
  • The pictures do not do this lovely cottage justice. It's spacious but still feels homely. Plenty of storage in bedrooms and kitchen has all that's needed. Under floor heating is amazing. Area is beautiful and the tea rooms next door are a must visit. We also had a lovely meal in The Ship but woukd recommend booking. Walks are amazing and we saw red deer!! Sophie is a wonderful host and her Mum was helpful too when we needed a scary lead for dvd. All in all a perfect weekend.

    Sheri2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely rural retreat. very comfortable, clean and great for dogs. You can hear the sea from the cottage and there is a fabulous pub close by. There is a tea room next door which has a great menu. Thoroughly recommend this cottage and host.

    Brenda2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the Little Owl Cottage. The heated floor was decadent, the place is extremely spacious and it is a 7-minute walk to the beach. Super nice! Also, the tea room nearby is very neat for a tea or cake in between.

    Max2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to explore dunwich and Southwold, amongst the other villages close by. The accommodation is next door to a lovely tea room and nursery also owned by the hosts, who were so friendly and informative . There’s also the ship inn for dinner and the beach a 5 min walk away from the accommodation.

    Emma2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious accommodation for 4 people, really dog friendly too with enclosed garden and fantastic location for long walks, bike rides and only a short walk to the beach, pub and a great tearoom next door too. We had a fantastic time.

    Marijke2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Owl is the nicest, most peaceful and tranquil air bnb we've stayed in. The location is fantastic if you love beautiful countryside and wildlife, we were lucky enough to see a barn owl in the field opposite 3 of the 4 nights we stayed which was amazing. The accommodation itself is lovely and much bigger then we expected! It's located at the of a 75 minute walk to Warbleswick and there are lots of other scenic local walks. It's also less than 5 minutes walk to the Ship Inn in Dunwich, which for years has been our favourite Suffolk pub, and a 5 minute walk to the beach. Would 100 % recommend and hope to return, and Sophie was really friendly and helpful too 😁

Bridge House was built in 1903 as a home and office to an Edwardian shoe shop, which is now the popular Hideout Cafe. It is a family home full of character with lovely stained glass windows and an eclectic mix of art work and artefacts! The front door looks out onto the pedestrianised Thoroughfare in the old fashioned, friendly town of Halesworth, so amenities are easy to access. Guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of our large garden at the back which runs alongside the river.
Guests enjoy eating a leisurely breakfast of cereals, fruit and yogurt, with unlimited supplies of toast, tea and freshly ground coffee in our lovely dining room featuring a beautiful stained glass window which overlooks the garden. For a full English breakfast with locally sourced food, we ask for £5 to be paid as and when you would like it. Our coffee beans from a Suffolk company are the best in town and come from the Hideout Café!
We love the town because it still retains the old fashioned friendly atmosphere with family run shops and pedestrianised street. There are three pubs, lots of cafes and a local theatre. We love biking on the cycle track and beyond and there are many wonderful walks. The coast is only 8 miles away.
  • What a charming home, I cannot recommend this accomodation highly enough. Right on the quiet main street of Halesworth, 5 minutes walk from the railway station, this 19th century town house is wonderful and has a great personality. Full of origional old features and decorated artistically by it's creative owners. The beds are super comfy and the continental breakfast abundant and tasty. With the ikeafication of the world, this beautiful house is a refreshing tonic, celebrating individuality.

  • Vanessa is a lovely lady, very easy going and helpful. I loved the quirkiness of the house. The bed is very comfortable and slept soundly both nights I stayed. The location is very peaceful and ideal for touring the area. The bathroom is down stairs which may not suit all. I would definitely stay again

    Elaine2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa was welcoming, and the accomodation provided everything I needed for my night's stay.

    Stephen2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kind and friendly host and a lovely character cottage. Everything was as advertised and Vanessa was very helpful - allowing me to arrive late in the evening and giving me a lift the following morning so I didn't have to wait for the bus

    Fiona2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa's place is compact small house in the middle of three with a single extension housing the bathroom at the rear. It is set in the most idyllic rural setting with nature to the front and back, being on the outskirts of Reydon. There is a sign for Wexford House opposite but it is hidden by trees. The venue room is to the front and I did not need to close my curtains at all, it was no private! The room is well proportioned with a lovely small sofa positioned by the window so there is view of nature. It's brilliant value for money, I had an extremely good rest before moving onto my next destination, and Vanessa is very hospitable. It does what it says on the tin, with the cherry being the gorgeous rural setting. Thanks Vanessa!!

  • All good - quiet and convenient

    Jon2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy room, warm comfy bed. Vanessa is very helpful.

    David2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa is a good host, very helpful and a calming influence if like me you’ve just played golf badly at Aldeburgh! Location is 5 minutes from Southwold and in the country side, i enjoyed my time in the sunny garden eating breakfast. Bedroom was comfortable and clean, internet was very good and of course there is off road parking on the premises. Two dogs bark on the first meeting and then you wouldn’t know they were there, lovely temperament. Bathroom is downstairs through the kitchen which i didn’t find a problem.

    * A fabulous place to self isolate * If you are looking for a long term rental (I.e six months) please get in contact to discuss. Super cute one bedroom barn with plenty of natural light, beautifully decorated and with a private garden courtyard. The Studio is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on a gorgeous leafy farm only 5 minutes from the seaside town of Southwold.
Newly converted, The Studio at High Wood Farm offers an escape from the hustle bustle of daily life. Situated on a quiet country lane tucked away from prying eyes, this one bedroom little slice of paradise means you can relax and recharge your batteries whilst enjoying some stunning local countryside. The popular and picturesque seaside town of Southwold is a mere five minutes away by car or if you fancy it, a 15 minute bike ride. Beautifully decorated with all your comforts in mind, this bijou little gem sits in its own grassy private courtyard with a large decking area where you can sit out and enjoy the fresh country air. The Studio offers privacy and is not overlooked by others. The decor is modern Scandinavian and as such it is full of light and warmth. (If you are at all light sensitive, it might be worth bringing an eye mask). The bed is super comfortable and the en-suite bathroom offers a bath with shower as well as a hand held shower head. We should point out that we are on a septic tank and therefore nothing bar natural waste should be put in the loo. There is hanging space for your clothes and we provide a hairdryer. The sitting area has a two seater sofa with a woollen blanket, some cushions and a cowhide rug on the floor. There is a smart TV. We provide some books, games, packs of cards and local maps. There is a breakfast bar with two stools to enjoy your breakfast at. We provide fresh bread, eggs, butter, a small selection of jams, and some other treats or two. The kitchen is fully equipped with a toaster, kettle, oven/microwave combo, radio, dishwasher and fridge. We have tried hard to make it a little home from home but if you are missing anything essential please just let us know and we will do our utmost to help. The outside decking area has two chairs, and a log for a table. It is a lovely space to sit out in the sun and in the evenings the outside lights light up the brick courtyard showing the original farm building in all its glory. Given that we live on a farm, there are animals about - we have horses, a farm dog, Jarvis, who is very lovely and super friendly and who likes to pay the odd visit, some beef cattle and the occasional chicken. We also have bees, insects and birds - we live in a diverse little community and we enjoy the odd noises and smells that sometimes come with living in the countryside. On the whole, it is a beautiful and lovely place to stay. It is very quiet and a great place to come back to at the end of a busy day for a glass of wine/beer or gin and a restful nights sleep.
Southwold is our nearest town and is super popular with old and young alike. It has fabulous beaches, a wealth of restaurants and pubs, lovely walks, the pier, the harbour and plenty of great activities for everyone to enjoy. Other places of note are Walberswick, Dunwich, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Framlingham and it's castle, Norwich an hour to the north and Ipswich, an hour to the south.
  • The Studio is a fantastic space: clean, stylish (even better than it looks in the photos), well laid out and in a great location. 5 minutes drive into Southwold (visit Two Magpies Bakery) and a short walk to Reydon Wood.

    Noah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in the studio. It’s an excellent space - so nicely designed and really cosy. Great location for trips to southwold and countryside walls. Would definitely recommend!

    Elizabeth2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and warm studio with plenty of space in the kitchen and a good size bath with shower. Very peaceful setting and an excellent view of the stars due to very little light pollution

    Victor2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is simply the best I could ever imagine . The architectural design , its harmony with the surrounding landscape. The peacefulness. And a pleasure to cook in a perfect kitchen. Many thanks to Filippa !

    Louis2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay in a comfortable accommodation a short drive from Southwold. A perfect stop for a weekend away. Filippa was very helpful and quick to reply to messages.

    Wendy2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We think we found the perfect place to have a relaxing stay after a busy Christmas. Fillipa's place is a stylish and modern barn conversion with a private garden set in wonderful countryside. Check-in couldn't have been easier and the accommodation is sparklingly clean with a lovely kitchen and living area, a modern bathroom and bedroom. We stayed here in January so we didn't use the garden area but I'm sure we would have if the weather had been warmer, it is private and secluded with loads of sunlight to enjoy. Southwold is a manageble walk of around a mile and a half away which is a pretty seaside town with plenty of independent shops and great pubs along with a lovely beach, pier and prom. We will definitely be staying here again!

    Colin2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in the studio over Christmas as our family were staying in the barn next door. It's a wonderful little retreat - so peaceful and cosy, and equipped with everything you need. The quiet location is perfect for getting away from it all, and Filippa is a very attentive (but not at all intrusive) host. Highly recommend!

    Celia2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • I spent 4 nights at the studio in November, looking for rest and solitude. It’s a great location and the studio is very comfortable. Filippa was a great host & responded very quickly and helpfully to my queries about the studio. She also gave a great suggestion of walking in Reydon Wood (about 10 minutes stroll from the studio) - highly recommended for peace & tranquility. I also recommend walking on southwold beach, south towards Warbleswick, like stepping back in time. Filippa left sour dough bread and other provisions which was a nice touch. I’d definitely go back there again.

Our studio is independent from the house and tucked away in our garden. It is accessed by our back gate.
Our cosy studio lies alongside the River Blyth in the market town of Halesworth. It is ideal as a base from which to explore the Suffolk coast, eight miles away, or just a quiet retreat to simply unwind and recharge. It s hard to believe that this tranquil spot is so close to the town's pedestrianized Thoroughfare with a great choice of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Our hideaway has a remarkable history, in that it was used for regular poetry evenings in the summer of 1916 by members of the Bloomsbury set, who lived in nearby Wissett. We also have a twin and double room available in the house. We have a separate listing for this with Airbnb - 1903 Town House, Halesworth. Parking is available at the back of our house, right by the gate to the studio at a charge of £5 a day, which you are welcome to pay on arrival. We have under cover storage for bikes in our garden. We leave you to your own devices and privacy, but we do like to say hello and give you a warm welcome. The studio is accessible from the back of the house, with a short walk down the garden, so it is very quiet and private. We love the town because it still retains the old fashioned friendly atmosphere with family run shops and pedestrianized street. There are 3 pubs, lots of cafes and a local theatre. We love biking on the cycle track and beyond and there are many wonderful walks. The coast is only 8 miles away. There are regular buses to Southwold, Beccles (on the River Waveney Broads) Bungay and Norwich. There are hourly trains to Ipswich and Lowestoft (change at Ipswich for London.) Halesworth station is 5 minutes walk away. We provide towels, linen and tea towels.
The studio is completely private and tucked away in the garden, but access to the town's pedestrianised Thoroughfare and all the amenities is only a few short steps away when you walk down the alleyway and come to the front of the house.
  • Beautiful location, very private and pretty garden. Small, cosy and warm. Parking is a short walk away but it is a lovely village.

  • These huts are the most wonderful places to stay you can ever imagine. Fabulous hosts and you are always guaranteed the most delicious treats on arrival! Very highly recommended, immaculately presented, very comfortable indeed. Once you've been once you will not want to go anywhere else!

    Marcelo2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! It was our first time away with our daughter (ten weeks) and we couldn’t have asked for more. The hut literally left us wanting for nothing and the bread, eggs and cake were a great little extra, and all eaten for breakfast! The huts are so well designed what with the great shower, log burner and well-equipped kitchenette. We really felt we were able to relax. We’ll be recommending this place to family and friends and wouldn’t hesitate coming back ourselves if we’re in the area.

    Deanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the stay at Diane's hut for my parents as their Christmas present and they decided to visit last weekend at the end of February. In their words....Diane and her husband were very welcoming, they came out to greet us and showed where to park. The hut was lovely, warm and cosy from the log burner and so many little finishing touches made the stay extra special (especially the homemade loaf of bread). Considering they stayed during the worst week of weather in February they had no problem being stuck inside catching up on some R&R. The hut is situated in an easy location to get to Southwold and other local areas. Bonus tip! If the pub is unavailable or as my parents found booked for a private function there is a good local chinese (Happy House) in Halesworth which delivers on site too! I have already recommended Diane's to friends based on their review.

    Lea2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous, clean and cosy Shepherd's hut. It's more like a small apartment! Was lovely and warm and cosy and Diane pulled out all the stops with cake, fresh bread and lovely touches for our arrival. We'll most definitely be back.

    Erica2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Two beautiful Shepherd Huts, with a lovely large showeroom (most shepherd huts have outside loo's!) and will appointed kitchen. Perfectly clean and welcoming. A credit to the owners.

    Steve2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charming space, brilliantly designed to feel spacious and easy to live in. Warm and cosy even in February. Great shower and very comfortable bed. We had a great weekend!

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay, shame it was only 1 night. Bigger than it looks on the photos. Lovely little touches, everything you might need. Easily the best value place ive ever stayed in. Very warm and quiet which I didnt expect in a shepherds hut. Gorgeous design and decor. Thanks so much

    Jay2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Diane was a wonderful host. The shepherd's hut was sparkling clean, and is beautifully made and decorated. Diane had left lots of little touches for us - bread, milk, coffee, tea, beers... we immediately felt at home. The heating in the hut was a real bonus - we felt so warm and cosy, despite the mid-February weather! The location is perfect for reaching the coast - Southwold is only 10 minutes away by car. Overall, a wonderful place to stay for a few nights away!

Cosy country cottage set in a quiet village only ten minutes drive to the beach. Perfect for all types of people looking for a tranquil get away near the Suffolk coast line.
There are plenty of lovely footpaths and walks in the surrounding area, maps of which are located in the footstool in the living room. Daisy cottage is one of three old railway cottages built for the railway workers when there was a station close by, which is now being renovated as a local attraction and for keen train folk! Daisy has been in our family for 40 years and is a place three generations of our family hold very close to their hearts. Wenhaston Village There are two pubs either end of the village. If you leave the house and turn right, you will find ‘The Queen’s Head’ after 5 minutes of walking. This has more of a restaurant feel to it rather than a drinking spot. If you leave the house and turn left, you will find ‘The Star Inn’ after 10 minutes of walking, which has more of a country pub feeling than restaurant. Although it also serves good food, worth booking at weekends! Halesworth Halesworth is your closest place for food shopping and other local services. There are some lovely cafes and restaurants, as well as a bank, hardware store, vintage shop and post office. This is also where your local train station is. Dunwich Dunwich beach is 6 miles from the cottage and provides a lovely place to walk. There is plenty of parking with a fish and chip restaurant, and a long stretch of beach for walking. Walberswick Walberswick is definitely worth a visit. It is a lovely small village with dunes and a beach. You can walk across to Southwold harbour from here (or take the little ferry). This is also a good spot for crabbing! In the corner cupboard in the hallway of the cottage you can find some equipment for crabbing activities. Southwold Southwold is the larger town in the area and well worth making a trip too. There are many more shops, restaurants and pubs here. ‘The Lord Nelson’ pub close to the beach is a great spot for a drink after a lovely beach walk. Enzo’s pizzeria is also worth a visit and is full of character! Also worth booking ahead for this one.
  • Lovely cottage in a small village , Very comfortable stay and the dogs had a great time

    Stuart2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Daisy Cottage is the cutest little place - perfectly sized for our group and packed with all the amenities one could think of for a weekend away. We cooked ourselves breakfast in the delightful kitchen but also enjoyed the local hospitality at the pub down the road! Highly recommend this cottage for any stay you have in the area.

    Nick2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Daisy cottage is delightful, full of character and interest but also well equipped and comfortable at any time of year. Wenhaston is a lovely village and a perfect base for exploring this part of Suffolk, which I love and where there is so much to experience; coast, marshland, wildlife, art, culture, history and lots of lovely old-fashioned villages and towns.

    Pippa2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Daisy Cottage is small but perfectly formed. We really enjoyed our stay here and the cottage had everything we needed. The local pubs and dog walk are fantastic and we also ventured into Southwold, Dunwich Heath and Snape Maltings - all very dog-friendly. We would definitely recommend this place.

    Fiona2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A simply adorable cottage, furnished to a really high standard. The beds are so comfy, it's like sleeping at home (and we're fussy sleepers!). Roaring log fire, we had a wonderful Christmas snuggled up together. Nice safe garden for our dog. I would point out that the stairs might be difficult for people with mobility issues and we're a very tall family so had to duck quite a bit coming downstairs. The cottage is spotless and was welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were sorry to go home! Emily is very helpful and easy to communicate with. We look forward to coming back again.

    Holly2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Daisy Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage in a fabulous village. Walks from the doorstep, the Suffok Heritage Coast a 10 minute drive away and a fabulous host in Emily. Couldn't recommend highly enough! Thanks again Emily!

    Penny2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a sweet little house - cosy, comfortable, and still showing its roots as a 19th century railway cottage. Beautiful countryside all round, including some scrubby woodland nearby with a homemade zip wire. An easy drive to the coast for Southwold etc. And Emily very easy to deal with.

Eastwood Lodge is a great place to start if you’re looking to relax in the exuberant countryside of Walberswick. The entire twin unit is for yourself. The newly refurbished, self-contained studio sleeps two people and has a spacious bedroom overlooking the garden. The studio has two single beds, a fully equipped shower and a separate kitchenette. The kitchenette includes a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and also comes equipped with crockery and cutlery, however please be aware these are not cooking facilities.
The surrounding scenery is very accessible; there are plenty of woodlands and beaches to explore which are walking distance from the property. You also have the famous Blyth Estuary, which is just behind the property and is upmost a pure haven for bird watchers and nature lovers. The property is located within the heart of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty nature reserve. A very beautiful area surrounded by breathtaking aspects of nature. You will also have access to RSPB Minsmere, which is 20 minutes drive from the property known for the many species of birds they consist of alongside fellow birdwatchers. If you walk/drive into Walberswick you are then able to walk over the Bailey bridge and you are then in Southwold, which is most definitely worth a visit. You can also use the little ferry, which takes you over the harbor once again ending up on the Southwold side.
  • The upstairs twin apartment is an ideal little bolt-hole for a rural stay on the Suffolk coast. The lodge is about a 10mins walk into Walberswick, but only 1min in the car. There is a little Co-Op store in the village. This is a rural stay on a farm, so ideal for getting away from it all. The heating is really effective, the WiFi good and the shower was great. The breakfast bits were nice - milk, cereals, bread OJ and yoghurts - ideal. Do be aware there is no hob or oven - just microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, but as long as you're aware it's fine! The half hour walk to Southwold can be done across a bridleway (so off road) and is lovely. I would re-book another trip without hesitation.

    Mark2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable stay and welcoming to our dog. Lots of good walks and some excellent places to eat. Takes a little while to warm up in cold weather and the plumbing could be better, but this wouldn't prevent us from returning. Working wifi, TV and refrigerator are nice touches.

    Leo2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge was delightful. Super clean, nice touches with the breakfast, good location and overall, great value!

  • We had a great stay here! Paolo responded quickly, gave us the use of a cot bed free of charge and was very accommodating to our needs. The place itself was easy to find and enter. It was very clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the special touches that were left - milk, butter, bread, croissants and teas and coffees. Walberswick itself is absolute beautiful and you are just a short drive into the village from here. Thank you Paolo.

    Kara2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice fresh room in a quiet location just out of the village but great to head off over the common in several directions for the great walks. Comfortable beds and clean and quiet.
