“In the Parks - This is an old, established neighborhood famed for its family-friendly vibe and leafy green tree-lined streets. Here there is a wonderful African art shop, Croft & co. Restaurant and one of the best fresh food grocers in Johannesburg. No stress, no pressure, lots of freelancers on open laptops during the week. Cyclists stop for breakfast on weekends. My favorites: 1. Croft and Co for all day very casual dining. Try the banana bread. 2. Blind Tiger: traditional pub, smells wonderfully of brewing beer. Try the backyard courtyard. Not for everyone - a little dingy.”

Memorial Site
“The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre seeks to raise awareness of the evils of genocide with a particular focus on the Holocaust and the 1994 genocide in Rwanda; to serve as a memorial to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust, all victims of Nazi Germany and the estimated 800,000 Tutsi victims of the Genocide in Rwanda; and to teach about the consequences of prejudice, racism, antisemitism, homophobia and xenophobia and the dangers of indifference, apathy, and silence to freedom and democracy.”

“Trot up the steps to the top of Westcliff and be mesmerized by the old mansions and the view of Johannesburg. Spring is particularly beautiful when Jacarandas cover the city in purple flowers. ”
