“Older children will enjoy a visit to Overvoorde, where a number of World War II bunkers can still be seen. It was built in the mid-1960s at the height of the Cold War, as the civil defense coordination centre in the event of a (nuclear) emergency. The interior has been fully restored. Several bunkers are regularly open to the public. A 45-minute film explains the government’s approach to civil defense in the post-war years. For further information, see www.ncbb.nl.”
