“Interesting museum highlighting the contributions of local fisherman and cranberry farmers. There is also information about shipwrecks and local sealife as well. There are a few intact whale skeletons on the outside of the museum. A highlight is the magnificent Destruction Island [Lighthouse| Lens, housed on the museum grounds, built in France in 1888 by Henry Le Paute from the design by Augustin-Jean Fresnel. The lens was installed in the Westport lighthouse in 1891 and operated until 1995 when it was removed by the Coast Guard and went on display at its present location. The room that houses the lighthouse is brilliantly lit - my kids loved it! ”

Nature
“WA state's tallest lighthouse. Now managed by locals ready to let you walk up the twisty stairs all the way to the top! Tons of history here, and you can see 180 degree views of the entire coastal area. If you can walk up it, I recommend! ”

Surf Spot
“The first surf shop in the PNW. 33 years on this beach and still going. If you rent gear, rent local from knowledgeable staff. Avoid hotels or coffee shops that rent surfboards, they don’t know the risks on stormy days. ”

Candy Store
“These are our next door neighbors!! They are SUPER NICE. Originally from Tacoma, this empty-nester couple with grown, adult kids decided to make a change in life from their 9-5 jobs and move out to live in Westport and run a candy shop. They've made so many wonderful changes to Granny Hazel's. It's a MUST every time we're in town. Please stop in and say hi!”

Also walking distance if you need to get the kids to burn off some energy, but you may need to carry them home. 1 mi and about 19 min. Driving is 4 min or less. Family Friendly”
