  • Donna was a wonderful host. The apartment was beyond our expectations. The back patio is steps away from The Missouri River!!! Very clean and has all the amenities you need!

  • Donna's place is huge! The location on the river is beautiful, facing east, so you'll get a great view of the sunrise. Donna is great at making sure you have everything you need, even if you don't think of it at first. My only regret is that I couldn't stay in the area longer.

  • Amazing view, wonderful host, nothing but great things to say! We will be back soon! Couldn't ask for anything better!

  • We wish we could have spent more time taking advantage of this beautiful spot and home. Great place to relax and unwind with wonderful hosts. If you're bored and hungry, check out Betsy's Casino in Townsend.

  • The house was incredibly comfy and homey. The views were even better. Beautiful and easy drive into Helena. We brought our two Australian shepherds, which Donna was very accommodating of. I really appreciated that since they are part of our family. Just up the road is beautiful state land perfect for roaming and playing frisbee. If my travels ever bring me back to the Helena area, I'd definitely consider staying again.

You’ll love my place because of The outdoors space - sits right along the bank of Newlan Creek and is within a mile of Newlan Creek Reseviour, 23 miles from Showdown Ski Hill, 12 miles from White Sulphur Springs. Lots of access to hiking, fishing, skiing, boating. Or swimming at the Natural Hot Springs in White Sulphur Springs.. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).
  • Great place to stay for playing at the reservoir or going into White Sulphur Springs. It's clean and safe and it's nice to have the extra space!

  • Thad and Nancy's little house is in a lovely location, peaceful and private (except for a few curious horses). We booked it for the Red Ants Pants festival because it looked like more fun than a hotel, and thought we might use the extra room if my sister came. She didn't make it but we're really glad we made the choice. It's just 6 or 7 minutes from the festival location. We were so busy at the event that we didn't get to just hang out in the cabin much. We plan to come back - maybe in the fall, and spend the evening on the back porch looking at all those stars you can't see in town.

    Susan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and unassuming. All of the motels in White Sulphur were full and this was a great alternative. We would stay here again.

    Britta2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The home's location was beautiful. Very peaceful to sit on the porch and listen to the creek and watch the horses graze. The home could stock the kitchen with more cooking utensils. Only one pan to cook in. No dish cloths to clean counters off. No toaster. We came prepared to cook and were not able to prepare all of our meals.

    Michelle2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thad and Nancy's communication with me made getting to the cottage easy. I knew if I needed to contact them I could, but everything I needed was there. The location is beautiful and very quiet. The master bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at their house and would stay again.

The Spa Hot Springs and Motel Head into White Sulphur Springs to soak in the natural hot springs pool. Bair Museum The Bair Museum is the home of one of Montana's most prosperous families of the past, rich in rare European antiques and silver, Indian artifacts and art; located in Martinsdale. Ghost Town The main street of Castle, incorporated in 1891 with a population of about 1,500 people, the result of the influx of miners, and the barkeeps and prostitutes which provided them with services should they have a good day in the mine. The best-known one time resident of Castle Town was Martha Jane Cannary Burke, or as she is better known Calamity Jane. A frontierswoman, alcoholic, Indian fighter, sometimes prostitute, she came to Castle to open a restaurant in the 1890s. This seems to have come to an abrupt end, since the local papers reported that “Mr. and Mrs. M. Burk, who started a restaurant here a few weeks ago, were arrested last Sunday morning" on charges of “absconding debtors", all of which seems to somehow have been related to the couple not paying for a team of horses in their possession. They soon returned to their wandering lifestyle, eventually ending up back in Deadwood in the Black Hills. Like many other mine towns, the silver panic of 1893 caused the town to die a rapid death. It was finally abandoned by the last residents in the 1930s. Today once can still see the remains of the town, and the open rock basement is the remains of what was once the baker's general store and post office. Berg's meat market and Kidd's furniture store was across the street and on the far hill side was Minnie's sporting house. Ray's Sport and Western Wear Ray's has it all. Sporting goods, Montana fishing licenses, western wear, tack, boots, jewelry, a convenience store, fuel, and a casino. • I returned to New York days ago after visiting Sawmill Canyon and I'm STILL sharing this fantastic experience with family and friends. Cabin is well built and the pine interior is warm and inviting and immaculately maintained. There's plenty of propane fueled wall fixtures which provide ample lighting cast with a warm glow. Didn't use the wood stove but wish it was cold enough to have stoked that up. Kitchen is neat, organized and nicely stocked with cooking and dining essentials. Propane fueled refrigerator, stove and BBQ were spotless and in perfect working order. Sarah and husband stopped by for a few minutes which was a friendly and welcoming visit. Basically I wish I had another 1,000 words left so I could write more. But will summarize by writing I highly recommend this property. Things I did which you might find useful? 4WD recommended. Drove into Harlowton for grocery shopping and free WiFi for laptop at the Harlowton Library. Nearby Wilsall has a mercantile for essentials and try the Wilsall Bar & Cafe for a nice meal, too. And although propane lighting is perfect, I packed a camping style headlamp for night reading and getting around outside after dark. And lastly? Definitely bring your camera. The views and scenery are beautiful and every photograph will be a winner, no matter what time of day. GG

  • My partner and I were driving through Montana en route to Seattle from Toronto, Canada. Staying one night at the Sawmill Canyon Cabin added just one hour to our overall trip and was totally worth it. The cabin had everything you need for one night stay. It was perfect! Around sunset we walked up behind the cabin to the top of the hill and enjoyed the amazing views - all to ourselves! We did bring our little 8-year-old Boston terrier dog, who loved having free range of the yard and lots of fresh air. One of the best stops on our road trip and we felt like we had a really nice experience of Montana. Thank you Sarah and Kent!

  • this location is pretty much exactly as described, and was exactly what I looking for. communication was great before check in, with Sarah even checking back with me multiple time to ensure I had all the info I needed. she even cheerfully accepted my request to check-in early, since I grossly overestimated the drive time. the entrance is not marked very obviously at all, but I liked this as it added to the seclusion. her driving directions were impeccable. what threw me off was the closed gate on the road, which I was surprised wasn't mentioned in the description or her follow up messages. but once I saw it, it was obvious. I knew the rule of open range is "if a gate is open, leave it open, if it's closed, close it behind you". although some (or most) out of town tourists wouldn't know this, so I think it should be mentioned in the driving directions while on the subject of the drive in, I drove an SUV as recommended by the description. HOWEVER, I was very disappointed to find out I didn't need it at all, and could have easily driven a small car as I would have preferred. the "high profile vehicle" they suggested I bring was FAR from necessary. the only issue I see with driving a car would be the final cattle grate into the main yard, although those final 20 yards could easily be walked. the outhouse was, without a doubt, the cleanest I've ever seen! I very much enjoyed my morning coffee there with the door wide open, enjoying the view . the house was clean, and well stocked with cookware and dishes and towels and bedding and candles and firewood. there was even coffee and tea, which I didn't plan on. there are definitely some critters living in the walls, but this didn't surprise me, and and it shouldn't surprise you either. it rained heavily while I was there, but the roof didn't didn't leak in the outhouse or house. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

  • I just can't get this trip out of my mind... I stayed at the cabin for one week, figuring that being off the grid would be a good chance for me to focus on my writing and decompress from a busy semester. I'm happy to have achieved all of the and then some! The pictures and description are fair representations of the cabin- though nothing can quite capture the essence of being there. The cabin itself is quite cozy and well-built. It features propane lights and gas powered appliances. They are perfect for cooking meals that you can eat at the table or on the porch- both have a beautiful view. The property is huge, so there's tons to do as far as hiking and exploring. You'll even be greeted by some friendly cows (and maybe hear them mooing amongst the birds and small stream that runs along the south side). If it gets a little cold, there's a wood stove that is fully stocked with everything you need. The loft area hosts three beds, all of which of comfy (on the firmer side). I had the privilege of meeting Sarah and her family when they stopped by to see if I needed anything towards the end of my stay. They were kind and welcoming and I cannot thank them enough for opening their cabin to guests like me! It is stated that you need a 4WD, high-profile vehicle to access the property. While I had a FWD sedan, I would've taken the former if I could've.

  • Sarah was incredibly accommodating and understanding. We had some scheduling conflicts, but she helped us to figure it out and my wife, baby and I had a wonderful stay. We can't wait to come back and run around the hills again.

  • Sarah's Cabin was the ultimate airbnb experience. It was unique and secluded, everything was clean and well prepared for our arrival and Sarah was extremely communicative. Thanks so much!

  • Sawmill Canyon allowed my boyfriend and I to create the perfect weekend getaway. The cabin itself is very charming and cozy. While rustic on the outside, the cabin is very well furnished and updated on the interior. Gas powered lamps provided adequate and warm lighting and the gas powered appliances allowed us to easily cook three meals a day. The outhouse was also well finished and clean. The location of the cabin was perfect for truly escaping our busy lives--there is no cell service, internet, or cable tv. It's also miles from the nearest town and is located several miles off the main highway. We didn't see our hear another person all weekend. On our way home from the cabin we stopped in the ghost town, Castle Town, which was mentioned in the cabin's description. There are a few wobbly buildings still remaining. We were also able to see deer, antelope, rabbits, lots of prairie dogs, and even two cranes on this drive. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking to escape for a weekend! We will definitely be returning!

  • this was the best get away spot that i have been to. the place was cute and all the little things they had all over the house was a great and heart warming surprize. things like condiments in the fridges, a binder with information left for me to read, air popcorn machine with seasonings and lots more. all of this made me feel like they really cared about my stay there and wanted me to enjoy it. and the deck! it's way larger then it looks in the pictures! I spent a lot of time sitting on the patio set looking straight at the mountains. I would love to come back next summer.

  • This cabin is super easy to find, and it sits in a beautiful forest! We went there for our honeymoon and loved being able to get away without any service or wifi. We ended up having to drive to Great Falls (which is about an hour away) to get a bunch of groceries, because they have tons of stores there and there isn't anything really in Neihart. There is a little convenience store across from the cabin, and it has a lot of stuff, but a lot of the food items we went to buy were expired - so make sure to check for that! The cabin was clean and had just about everything that we needed! We made a fire in the back, went on tons of hikes, watched some DVD's they had in the cabinet, and read a book we brought from start to finish. The neighbors on the North side are really really close, to your cabin, so be prepared for that. They aren't there all of the time though so that didn't bug us too bad. It gets really really warm in the cabin from about 3:00-6:00 or so, like as in 90 degrees or hotter (we went in August). So make sure you plan for that too. There is a fan in the mud room that helped a lot during those hotter hours. Thanks again! Neihart is a unique little town that was a fun vacation spot.

    Morgan2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Celesta's place in Neihart was such a treat. We were traveling on a road trip and stopped here for just one night. We arrived quite late and had a little trouble seeing our way to the door (I would recommend bringing a torch if arriving late), but felt instantly at home once we were through the door. It was very cozy and we were able to cook a lovely meal and breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen. The bed was also comfortable and cozy and we had a great nights sleep. We woke up to a sprinkling of snow and it was truly magical. We just wish we lived a little closer so we could come back again! Thank you for a lovely stay!

The Fish Room is in a beautiful log duplex cabin near a creek, surrounded by mountains. It hosts two beds - a queen and a twin - as well as a private bathroom. The cabin is rustically decorated and perfect for a getaway. Battle Creek Ranch is a family owned working cattle ranch about 20 miles outside of White Sulphur Springs, MT, 12 miles of those being on dirt roads. For 27 years, the Richtmyer family has hosted guests at their ranch. We will cook you a ranch dinner & hearty breakfast as well.
Boyd K. Iverson and his family settled in the Missouri River Valley on the West side of the Big Belt Mountains in 1950. Boyd grew and expanded the ranch to include Battle Creek Ranch; a summer pastureland for the growing cow-calf pair operation. The country is at 6,000 feet in elevation. It is vast and open and encircled by the Big Belt, Castle, Crazy and Bridger mountain ranges. The sky here rolls on forever and it is beautiful country. The Richtmyer family has worked hard to maintain its rich history and rustic beauty. The original, hand-hewn log home was built at the end of the 1800’s and has been incorporated into the modern lodge. We have a number of additional log cabins that house guests, in addition to a 100 year- old barn and outbuildings that are used in ranch operation. Still family-run today, Battle Creek operates as a working cattle ranch. We invite you to immerse yourself in Big Sky Country and share a piece of Montana at Battle Creek Ranch!

One of Montana's best base-camps. Minutes away from Lewis & Clark NF, snowmobile and ATV trails out your back door. Access to hunting, snowmobiling, ATV, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and only 10 minutes from skiing at Showdown!
Centrally located in the middle of Lewis and Clark National Forest our cozy cabin has room enough for eight. Beds include-King, 2 full, and a 2 twin trundle bed.
Neihart is located on Highway 89, a scenic highway connecting Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park, known as the Kings Hill Scenic Byway. Neihart was named for James L. Neihart, one of a group of prospectors who first discovered minerals in this part of the mountains. The discovery of silver-lead ore came in 1881 and proved to be one of the richest in the Little Belts. The igneous rock in which the ore is found is called pinto diorite because of its red and green spotted appearance. Sapphire mining proved profitable here, and it is estimated that more than $3 million worth of sapphires ranging in color from pale to royal blue were taken from these mines. A town meeting was held in 1882 and the chairman, sitting on a rock, suggested the name of Farragut for the town. No one seconded the motion, but the next suggestion of Neihart was made and accepted. Main Street was laid out to be eighty feet wide and all cross streets sixty feet.(from Cheney's Names on the Face of Montana, Mountain Press Publishing Company) This historic mining town is right in the heart of the Little Belt Mountains. Try out the local creeks for some excellent trout fishing, and take the 10-mile drive north of nearby Monarch to Sluice Boxes State Park where hiking, biking, hunting and wildlife viewing are popular. Neihart also boasts excellent creek fishing and recreation opportunities. Be sure to visit Memorial Falls and take the nature trail which is handicapped accessible. For winter recreation, snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing visit the Showdown Ski Area, nestled high in the Little Belt Mountains located 25 miles north of White Sulphur Springs near Neihart. There is 1,400 vertical feet of forest-lined trails, open slopes and glades for skiers of every ability.
  • Excellent vacation home, everything worked good, will definitely be back, love the location, close to bobs bar and restaruant and Royals inconvenience store. I dont think theres a bad thing to say about Neihart or your place, thanks again and cant wait to go back.

  • Great cabin rental, great location. Craig is a mellow host and the whole place is pretty laid back. well stocked house, good kitchen for cooking, place stays toasty warm with little effort. Definitly make the trek to Neihart, its a fun place to stay!

    Kevin2014-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Craig's place worked out perfect, close to where we were attending a wedding. Craig even called and checked on us and asked if we needed anything from town. Make sure you check out Memorial Falls. Beds were comfortable and phone was good, since we didn't have cell service.

  • Craig was amazing, he was a wonderful host. The home was cozy and had everything one needed. He responded immediately to any questions we had and was understanding of providing accommodations to make our visit very memorable. Our family is very grateful. We would definitely stay again when in the area.

    Rick2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was easy to find and the place is well supplied. Craig was awesome to work with and we'll definitely do this again. Showdown is a fun little mountain to ski and the amount of snow up there was incredible for this year.

  • We had a great visit in mid-February, the house was spacious, warm, comfortable and had everything we needed in it. Being so close to the Inconvenience Store and Bob's was also a plus for a place tucked in the middle of the little belts. This was a great spot for relaxing after a day our in the mountains, and there is tons to do along 89 near Neihart. Craig is a great host and made sure we had everything we needed for the trip, we would definitely come back in the future!

    Chris2015-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights at Craig's cabin in Neihart while we were in town to celebrate a big family event. His cabin was perfect for our needs. Enough beds for everyone and a place to cook our meals. Even a hot tub which we enjoyed one evening. Just be aware that there is only one bathroom in the house. That made mornings a little difficult but with planning we managed.

    Debra2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great house. Right across from Bob's Bar and Motel in Neihart. It was really easy communicating with Craig. Just be sure to have everything figured out before you arrive -- there's not much cell coverage in the area.

Rural Montana at its best! Get ready to fish, bike, hike, and ski, exploring all that southwest Montana has to offer, including Yellowstone Park, Bridger Bowl and Bohart Cross-Country. Choose to spend your vacation in this custom built home, which sits on a very private 130 acres with panoramic views of the mountains and wildlife. The spacious home offers a gourmet kitchen, rock wood burning fireplace, two master suites upstairs and two more bedrooms downstairs, and radiant floor heating.
  • Beautiful secluded home with beautiful views! The bedrooms were well-equipped and comfortable and the great room was wonderful for spending time together with family. Plenty of space for 12 people to spread out!

    Maggie2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place! It is very clean & modern. Great kitchen, bathrooms, A/V system to enjoy DVDs in the evening. Wonderful place to relax without any distractions. The view off of the back patio is truly stunning. It seems like you can see forever across the beautiful Montana landscape. You do need to remember that you are in rural Montana. There aren't a lot of restaurants and shops nearby (although the restaurants that do exist in the nearby towns are great). And the internet is slow. And little-to-no cell service. For us, that was perfect. The peace & quiet of looking off the back patio in the evening is priceless! The location is secluded, but still convenient to Bozeman and all the surrounding activities -- hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, etc. To top it all off, Sally was an amazing host! She was always very responsive and flexible. We are delighted that we found this place!!

  • Thank you so much for offering your beautiful mountain home to us for the week. It was the perfect gathering place for family from all around the country. The house was in excellent condition, well stocked, and extremely comfortable. We would recommend this home to any family hoping to get away and rest. It was not too far from Yellowstone, fairy lake, and Bozeman! We made many memories.

Come stay at Root to Rise Gardens! Wake up in our cozy log home and watch sunrise over the mountains. Lounge on the sunny deck or head out to explore miles of nearby trails. Enjoy farm fresh vegetables and eggs. We are close to Bozeman, Yellowstone, and countless recreation opportunities in gorgeous southwest Montana. Family friendly and we can accommodate pets (with prior notice). We love this area and are happy to provide recommendations...we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!
This is a custom designed and built log home. Open floor plan with lots of windows to enjoy our vast views to the Bridger and Crazy Mountains. 360 degree views to the mountains and to our vegetable gardens that surround the house. Master bedroom accommodates up to 3 people and our large, open loft space sleeps another 5. The main bathroom is designed to facilitate use by groups and is divided into three private rooms (shower room, toilet/sink, and tub room).
This is a great spot to get away from it all. We are in a quiet and rural area of Montana. Our immediate neighborhood is an old ranch that has been subdivided into 20-50 acre parcels. We are bordered to the north by a cattle grazing lease...you'll see cows grazing during the summer and keep your eyes out for wildlife (deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, fox, coyotes and lots of birds seen on a regular basis! Infrequent moose and bear sightings too.). Nearest town, the small town on Wilsall, is 9 miles away and has your basics (general store, two restaurants, bar, post office, health clinic). We are 45 minutes from Bozeman, 1 hour from Livingston, and 1.5 hours from Yellowstone National Park's north entrance.
  • Leslie's place is perfect for those who want to get away from it all. It's pretty close by car to Livingston and Bozeman (and the ski area) but far enough out that you don't feel like you are even near a road! We just loved going out on the porch and looking at the scenary. You can even hear coyotees in the evenings. Leslie was the perfect host and she's a great cook too! We had fennel goat cheese quiche, zucchini bread, a loaf of multrigrain, as well as farm-fresh eggs and salad greens! Thank you for hosting our family (and our dog!) on our vacation, Leslie!

    Gina2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Root to Rise Gardens is the perfect getaway! Leslie is a wonderful host and so friendly. The view is incredible! Windows all around the house provide stunning views of the gardens and mountains that surround the property. The house is beautiful and spacious and well comes well equipped with books, games, even a washer/dryer! On top of all that, Leslie provides lots of food from the garden, as well as other goods like rice and pasta. The fridge is also stocked with things like butter, yogurt, fresh bread, beer and wine. The house is also just twenty minutes away from downtown Wilsall if you're looking to go to a restaurant or get an espresso. We loved our stay!

    Alexandria2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had travelled to Thermopolis, WY for the solar eclipse and had spent several days on the road in hotels. By the time we got to Leslie's house we were frazzled from bad food, interrupted sleep, banging doors, thumping floors, malfunctioning AC units, honking horns, etc. that when we pulled in we could almost literally lay our heads back onto the comfort of mountain breezes and the sounds of birds in flight. Leslie's house is situated off the beaten path but within wonderful eye-shot of the mountains. Her photos show that clearly but what they don't convey is that other than the property owner there are no neighbors close by. Walking into the house was like walking into the folds of a familiar and warm memory -- the house is charming, stylish, and gracious. It has many nooks and sleeping areas for groups larger than ours, and Leslie keeps an ample supply of herbs and other cooking supplies handy. And finally, what was definitely the highlight of our stay there -- Leslie. Her smile and gentle laughter were sincere and she really did radiate a level of authentic caring that seems so rare these days. My wife, son, and I immediately felt like we had returned to visit a friend after but a brief chat on the expansive deck -- we felt like we knew her for years. In short, a wonderful stay with a truly exceptional host(ess) that we feel lucky to have stumbled on during our final night before reaching home.

    Steve2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you hate a secluded retreat in a beautiful setting with a wonderful host, stay away. The house is beautiful with wonderful vistas. The house is thoughtfully supplied with some staples and many extras that challenges any chef's kitchen. We had a great, too short stay.

    Denise2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place to stay! With kids or without kids, the location, the house and vibe were all top notch! The gardens were absolutely stunning and an added bonus of some freshly picked sugar snap peas added a lovely touch to an already lovely stay. Would highly recommend. Leslie is aces!!!

    Jeremy2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie was an incredible host. She gave us fresh greens, goat milk, bread, quiche, granola, and yogurt for our stay (on top of an incredible selection of fresh spices and a well stocked kitchen). The house was very comfortable and the location is hard to beat. Highly recommended if you're looking for an escape from the daily grind!

    Mike2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, then look no further. Nestled in a valley, surrounded by mountains, the view itself makes this a great place to stay. In addition to running the house, Leslie, the host also operates a small farm. She provided us with a lovely banana rhubarb bread and a delicious quiche, as well as fresh eggs from the chickens she raises, and fresh greens from the garden. What a nice, and unexpected touch. The house is large, and airy, with windows everywhere to take advantage of the view. Very clean, and super comfy, things tend to be simple, but very functional. Our only complaint is that we did not spend enough time there.

    Jonathan2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Root to Rise Gardens is simply amazing. After a week of camping in Yellowstone and Grand Teton for the 2017 Eclipse, we were so excited to end our visit to Montana and Wyoming by staying at Root to Rise. We had a big group, and Leslie took care of us like family. The property is stunning, and Leslie is a thoughtful and wonderful hostess. Thank you for everything.

  • Rene is a wonderful host with a beautiful property. There is a restaurant on the property and it is close to mountain and lake adventures which was perfect for us! The suite is a whole basement with a comfortable feel and nicely decorated. There is not a full kitchen and there is no door at the top of the stairs connecting the suite to the owners main house, but Rene was upfront about this, made us feel comfortable, and we had everything we needed.

The Elk Room is in a beautiful log duplex cabin near a creek, surrounded by mountains. It hosts three twin beds as well as a private bathroom.

Our ranch-style guest house overlooks the hayfields of this working cattle ranch and is set in the shadows of the Elkhorn Mountains. The home boasts three bedrooms upstairs, and a basement ``suite,'' two bathrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen.
  • I came here with a crew that was going to be working out on a lake nearby. It was easy to find even thought the Garmin tried to take us a bit further, there is a sign directing you straight to the ranch. Marie and Jeff are some of the friendliest and down to earth people I have ever met and I have literally been in all 48 continental states travelling with work and I meet people everywhere. Their two sons Collin and Kenny took us to the lake to jump off cliffs and I was even afforded the opportunity to tackle a small cow (it's called bulldogging) even though I never took it due to that fact that our work days were long and I was usually ready to just eat and relax. Also they had the coolest dog named Ben who I would watch try and run down rabbits and such. There was a big fire pit in the back yard that we had a fire at a couple of nights while we were there. All in all it was an amazing time it felt more like vacation than work and I am looking forward to going back on private time so that I can show my family that beautiful secluded piece of mountainside paradise.

  • We had a group of ten people who landed in Helena late and we're heading to Big Sky to ski. Our house we rented was not available till next day and we needed a place btw airport and Big Sky to rest our heads. I saw this ranch and booked it and so glad we did. The ranch is a true Montana ranch with horses and cows and bulls and even a black cow and two dogs who greeted us as we drive up! Took a walk when I woke up as the sun rose and saw all the cattle going to different places to graze and eat. It was a wonderful experience and everyone in our group agreed we wished we could stay longer. Jeff and Marie even brought us coffee for the morning since we obviously didn't travel with coffee. Id definitely recommend this place

    margaret2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Marie and Jeff were wonderful hosts! What a privilege it was for us to stay at a cattle ranch. The guesthouse was gorgeous, clean, and in a stunning location: the perfect location for a family with small children who are curious about everything. They were very warm, hospitable, and generous of their time. I hope one day I get to return to Montana and experience this amazing place.

The above rate includes all transportation, food and lodging on the Reserve, all Reserve activities, and use of our equipment (including binoculars, telescopes, backpacks, etc). For those interested, it also includes a guided trip to Yellowstone National Park including transportation, entrance fees and equipment. Lodging and meals in the Park are not included, although we will make all necessary reservations for you. Join us and spend time learning, and doing, the kinds of things that wildlife biologists do! This vacation can be guaranteed entirely private if there are 3 or more in your group and is ideal for families with children or a group of friends. We also have some scheduled "weeks" for singles, couples, or small groups who are willing to share their vacation with like-minded individuals - contact us for prices for singles and couples. Once we arrive at the ranch, you'll have time to unpack and settle into your homey log cabin after our rather bumpy and dusty ride. The main floor has one king size or 2 twin beds and a private bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. The half loft upstairs also has 1 or 2 beds depending on your needs. We provide an "old west" feel combined with the luxuriousness of 400+ count fine bed linens, cozy comforters, propane "fireplace", and buffalo robes. Arrival Day: Pick folks up from the Bozeman airport or hotel and head up to Wild Echo Bison Reserve. To begin your journey into the world of the bison, we will stop for a picnic lunch at Madison Buffalo Jump State Park before heading on to Wild Echo Bison Reserve. Monday through Wednesday: We will spend our days participating in wildlife and bison projects. These studies are varied and dependent on the time of year, but we do at least one different project daily, so you will be exposed to a variety of wildlife projects . Thursday and Friday: After our 3 days of living with the bison and wildlife, we will take you on our Yellowstone National Park Overnight Tour. FAQs: I'm only one person - can I still do come for a Wildlife Immersion Vacation? If you are a single person, or your group is smaller than 3 people, please contact us for our scheduled Immersion Weeks. We still keep our groups small, but you will have the opportunity to get to know new like-minded people from anywhere in the world. Where do we get our food? Food is provided while on the Reserve (see Natural and Organic Montana meals and snacks). All guests will be expected to assist with cooking and kitchen clean up. Meals in Yellowstone Park are not included. What do we do? The answer to that is as varied as the groups that visit us. The first evening, we will go over some of the wildlife studies that we are involved with, and you and your group decide what most appeals to you. We have What if I don't know anything about wildlife or plants? That's what we're here for! We'll will teach you how to identify various plants, birds and mammals, as well as how to use the equipment that biologists typically use to census the wildlife that we work with. All we ask is that you come with a love of wild things, and a desire to learn more about them. We'll teach you the techniques. What can we do in the evenings? Each evening we will offer at least one Bison Quest activity mentioned in the Bison and Wildlife Adventure Vacation for those who wish to participate. Activities may include telescope stargazing, 4x4 evening wildlife safaris, bison interaction experience, sweat lodge, etc. (Except for the trip to YNP, all activities offered will be on the Reserve.) When and where do you pick us up at the beginning of our week? From either the Bozeman airport or hotel. All guests should make reservations with a hotel in Bozeman for their return on Friday evening. We will drop you off there around 6pm upon our return from the Park. Where do we stay in Yellowstone National Park? During the scheduled weeks, we are able to make reservations far in advance so you will usually be staying at cabins inside the Park. If they are not available for some reason, then we will stay in accommodations near the Park boundary. All accommodations are planned for double occupancy and will be added to the price of your vacation. Single accommodations may be available upon request. We think that our "Wildlife Immersion weeks" are lots of fun, but it does involve physically working with wildlife. If you want to be waited on, sit around and sunbathe, or have a resort experience, then our Wildlife Immersion Weeks aren't for you and you might find the Bison Quest Private Adventure Package more to your liking. Our Wildlife Immersion weeks are for the adventurous, the curious, the thinkers ... for those who want to make a difference in the wild world around us.

Glamping tents at Norwegian Wood Ranch in Helena, MT. Queen size beds, large porches, beautiful creekside setting, golf, bar and grill on site! I/2 mile from Canyon Ferry Lake with incredible views of the Big Belt Mountains! Hiking and tons of mountain biking trails are right out the front door in Helena National Forest. Wednesdays-Sundays enjoy dinner and drinks at Highlander Bar & Grill just 150 yards away on the ranch property.
We've got four glamping tents, each set back in the trees with its own front deck and seating area. Three of the tents offer a comfy queen sized bed, while our fourth tent is our "family tent" with an extra twin-sized bed (and available cot). There is a shared outhouse and propane-powered shower near the tents.
  • Try glamping! It is a great way to be in nature and sleep well. Rene's tent rooms had all the right amenities to make it fun.

  • There was a little bit of drama the first night Rene got very upset in his restaurant because the Wifi wasn't working to process credit cards. He went on a rant for an extended period yelling profane words and then yelling at his staff out of frustration. This was all being done right in front of my daughter. Totally unacceptable behavior and I told the waitress he might want to cool it because this was definitely not a good quality of an Air BnB host. The waitress (Chelsey) was awesome she felt so bad and apologized profusely for his behavior. Rene did come through the next day and apologized for what happened. The only thing open was the bar/grill from 5 pm-9pm so there was nothing available for water/pop/coffee/snacks etc the rest of the time had to drive to the store at the marina. Glamping tent was good but probably won't make a return visit.

  • This truly is a fun adventure! The ranch is beautiful; the local animals are super friendly; the creek is peaceful; however, the restaurant and bar stole the show for us!! We had some local beer, great wine and conversation before our meal. Live music was also a surprise touch and the meal was TOP NOTCH!!! Lamb chops for her and Canadian duck breast for me and we topped it off with some of the best key lime pie we've ever had (and we just came from Florida). Rene and the ladies made our stay memorable and we would love to come back again!!!

  • Wow doesnt cover this experience. Don't second guess booking - do it. I've: *spent the evening making memories at a GREAT restraunt meeting new people *woke up at 6 am, wandered spots that took my breath away *slept in a bed and woke with an amazing peep show - the birds sang me awake and it was so lovely *quilted *painted *renewed my spirit *listened to the rain fall on the tent and porch and felt like I'd been given a secret gift Comfortable, memorable - just what I needed and never knew. Came here by myself for some R&R and found that and fun. Highly recommend.

Come stay at Root to Rise Gardens! The master bedroom accommodates 3. Wake up to stunning sunrises over the Crazy mountains, relax on our sunny deck, curl up with a book by the wood stove in our cozy living room, and enjoy fresh vegetables from the gardens. Perfect for your rural Montana get-away, but close enough to Bozeman for access to transportation and city amenities. This is a great spot for outdoor adventurers. Also, family friendly and we can accommodate pets (with prior notice).

  • I stayed at Leslie's for five days/four nights. My stay exceeded my expectations in every respect. The home is full of character. It's comfortable, clean, safe, and in a beautiful location. The master bedroom is spacious and private, and with the windows open, there is the best cross-breeze. There are cozy blankets and pillows all around to really make it feel like home, and a comfortable chair overlooking the Crazies, suitable for the best afternoon naps. The kitchen is well stocked, as are the bathroom facilities on the first floor. Leslie has really thought of everything and put a lot of love and care into creating this B & B experience. The grounds and scenery are also beautiful. With the Bridgers to the west and the Crazies to the east, you can't beat the location. From Leslie's place, I explored the Bridgers, the Crazies, Big Sky, Bozeman, Livingston, Big Timber, and Paradise Valley. Her gardens are also beautiful, and it's relaxing to walk around the property. I also really fell in love with the dogs, Millie and Rita, as well. Like, really REALLY in love. :) Leslie was super kind and friendly, and although she works harder than most anyone I've met, she made time to check in to make sure I had everything I needed and to chat. I visit Montana fairly regularly, and this will be my default home base from this point on. I can't thank Leslie enough for making this trip so stress-free and enjoyable. I can't wait to return!

  • This is a great place to unplug and stay with family and or friends or have a business retreat. Really enjoyed our stay and breakfast.

  • Where to even begin about Leslie's home! We had the absolute best time there. By far the best Airbnb me and my father had ever stayed in. Leslie and Sue (her neighbor) went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home. The house is just 45 minutes outside of Bozeman and is in a great spot between mountains. The home is super clean, lots of natural light, and was really well decorated. The 2 dogs on the property were so friendly and fun to play with. The farm is fantastic and the salad greens are a must try! Its a very authentic farm experience in Montana with 2 authentic people! I definitely recommend Leslie's place to anyone. I will be staying there again no doubt. Cannot recommend this place more!

  • What a unique and marvelous experience it was staying at Leslie's Airbnb! Set in the rolling countryside of Montana and surrounded by mountains, her home is magnificently decorated. Very comfortable bed, very spacious. We ate wonderful organic vegetables right from the garden. Leslie was extremely accommodating and sweet. This was a very relaxing and rejuvenating place to spend four days. Highly recommended.

  • Leslie's kindness, generosity, and beautiful home made our trip to Montana a perfect and memorable one. She prepared a great advice packet for us, made sure that a crackling fire was there to greet us when we got home, and was all-around a pleasure to meet. The residence itself is a beautiful, spacious house with great amenities including a fully stocked kitchen if you wish to cook. The drive to Bozeman was super beautiful and a welcome trade-off for the natural seclusion of the venue. We can't wait to come back!

$1975/person for 6 days and 5 nights for an all-inclusive wildlife vacation - this is not for just a place to stay the night. You can add or subtract the number of days, and the above rate includes all transportation, food and lodging on the Reserve, all Reserve activities, and use of our equipment (including binoculars, telescopes, backpacks, etc). What can we do in the evenings(URL HIDDEN) Each evening we will offer at least one Bison Quest activity mentioned in the Bison and Wildlife Adventure Vacation for those who wish to participate. Activities may include telescope stargazing, 4x4 evening wildlife safaris, bison interaction experience, sweat lodge, etc. (Except for the trip to YNP, all activities offered will be on the Reserve.) When and where do you pick us up at the beginning of our week(URL HIDDEN) From either the Bozeman airport or hotel.

The Sage Room is in a beautiful log cabin near a creek, surrounded by mountains. It hosts one queen bed as well as a private bathroom.
