“Like many LGBTQ centers, the Lesbian Herstory Archives wears multiple hats to serve its community. It’s a library, museum, and meeting space housing the largest and oldest collection of materials by and about lesbians—the perfect place for research nerds to geek out. Highlights on display might be a selection of queer covers from lesbian pulp novels. Appointments are not required, but hours are somewhat irregular. Check the website first!”

“The Engine Company 240, formerly Engine Company 40/ Hook & Ladder Company 21, was built in 1895 and has been serving the neighborhood for more than a century. It is one of eight firehouses designed by Danish immigrant and noted architect Peter J. Lauritzen for the Brooklyn Fire Department and is his finest in the Romanesque Revival Style. ”
