Holiday Rentals in Woodbridge, Detroit

Just booked in Woodbridge, Detroit

Welcome to Woodbridge Farm! ...a friendly, spacious & quiet neighborhood, close to all of the happenings in/around Detroit. Enjoy the newly renovated 2nd floor of our 1884 Historic house. The apt is cozy w/ yummy architectural/design details.
WOODBRIDGE FARM: We love it here! ...very special and unique. The street is filled with Urban Pioneers and creative types; artists, musicians, gardeners, and makers. You will find that most homes sit on larger pieces of land, giving Woodbridge Farms a unique feel. Many of the houses in the area have undergone impressive renovations, and for the others the renovation is underway. We have completed the interior renovations of this home, and soon we will start renovation on the house next door, which we also own. From the outside they look a little rough, but keep coming back and you will be able to witness the transformation! US & OUR RENOVATION PROJECTS: We are longtime Detroiter’s. We are committed to the City, and we are so happy to have been a part of the revitalization of Detroit. We love old homes …and we love to renovate them! Zac is a general contractor, and Renee is an Interior Designer. Together, we have been restoring old homes in Woodbridge for the last 15 years. LOCATION: You are a short walk/drive from Detroit’s midtown area, where you will find a variety of restaurants and shopping. Both Corktown and Downtown are within a few miles. It is a very quiet neighborhood, conveniently located to all major freeways. Lots of parking. THE LISTING: Newly renovated, with the best of care. Open plan kitchen, dining, and living. King size bed with fine linens and nice pillows. The bedroom windows are opposite the sun rise. It is a very peaceful space, bright, open and fresh. We are sure you will love the apartment. It is clean and private. We have an office on the first floor that is completely separate from the space. Zac is typically there M-F 9-5 should you need to fax ,copy or have any questions. If you have any special requests we will do our best to accommodate you, if given a bit of notice. We live 2 blocks away from the apartment should anything urgent come up.
  • The place is beautiful, there's so much light and it has adorable decor. We loved Taco the kitty too, he's so sweet!

  • Absolutely fantastic place! It's clean, comfortable, spacious and well-decorated. Zac & Renee have thought of every little detail you could possibly need during your trip, and then some. They were responsive, thorough, and respectful. It's clear that they've put a lot of love into the apartment and the building, and we would definitely stay here again.

  • Everything about this place was fantastic! The hosts were really responsive, check in was a breeze and the space couldn't have been better for our trip to Detroit. Location is a easy walk to midtown or just a quick jot to downtown and corktown. We'll definitely be back next time we visit Detroit.

    Eric2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Zac & Renee's apartment. The location was super convenient to explore downtown and every where was within a 10 minute drive. The apartment was lovely inside. Spirit Airlines cancelled our flight last minute and we had to slightly change our plans, and the hosts were super flexible. The host gave us great recommendations for restaurants and were super responsive. We also loved their cat Taco! He was the sweetest cat and loved to snuggle with us. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The neighborhood is in transition, but we didn't have any issues and felt safe.

    Morgan2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Zac and Renee were excellent hosts. Communication was great, and we enjoyed meeting them both in person during our trip. The home is beautifully done and in a very cool, up-and-coming part of Detroit just a short Uber ride away from nightlife. A visit from Taco the neighborhood cat was a bonus. Would definitely stay again!

    Lauren2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Quiet and clean, and in a safe neighborhood -- and with a friendly cat hanging around to greet you outside.

    Kevin2016-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Zac and Renee were wonderful hosts, responsive and friendly. I used to live down the street from their beautiful space for 3 years, so it was a treat to be back in the neighborhood for a couple of nights. We had a couple of old friends over one night and everyone raved about how beautiful the apartment was. Thank you for a lovely homecoming!

    Jess2016-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The only thing wrong was that we didn't get to stay longer !! It was by far the best space yet that I have stayed in . I loved everything about it ! So much talent and consideration in every detail ! Thank you !!

Welcome to one of the most unique accommodations in Detroit, QuonsetHaus. A beautiful, open, airy, new construction Quonset Hut; part of a wonderful new community in Woodbridge/Core City known as True North. Centrally located on Grand River Avenue, it's just a 5 minute drive/bike/Uber to Corktown, Midtown, or Woodbridge. We invite everyone to come and enjoy our home away from home as if it were yours, and experience the magic of Quonset Hut living, right here in Detroit. Relax, you're home.
Welcome to our brand new construction Quonset Hut home located on Detroit's near west-side. Part of an incredible and groundbreaking new development created by Prince Concepts and architect Edwin Chan, called True North Detroit. It's an incredibly open and airy space, with so much room and light at all hours of the day and night. We've picked furnishings that make you feel right at home, and cozy up the industrial finishes to make you settle in, take your shoes off, and enjoy everything Detroit has to offer. Surround yourself with a space that has furniture, decor, and art from Detroit Makers and Artists that rival almost anywhere in the world. Most everything from art prints to the Shinola Turntable to the vintage pieces and magazines are local, and that's just the way we like it. You'll find air conditioning in the summer, and radiant heated concrete floors in the winter to keep things just right. Our home includes a large and extremely well-appointed kitchen, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom (loft) with a queen-sized bed. Our standalone building (one of 9 on the property) is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just minutes away from anything you'd want to do in the city. Photography, videography, and small events are permitted only with prior consent and special rates. Please submit an inquiry with what you're looking to do! For additional amenities and programming just feet away from our home, check out our friends at @thecollectiveattruenorth. Yoga classes, workshops, group bike rides, and more all starting just to our left in Hut #3, nearly every day! Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days. You'll find a single bedroom in the sleeping loft. It has a beautifully comfortable queen bed, dresser, and bench, as well as a 46" HDTV w/ Roku (Netflix provided, and other accounts available using your own login). Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom. The bathroom includes a large walk-in shower, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Our main living space includes a dining room table with four chairs, as well as a sitting area with a couch and two lounge chairs. Needing to get some work done? We've got a desk for that. Want some tunes? We've gone one of the finest turntables on the market, made right here in Detroit with a selection of our favorite tunes (just be kind to her)! Slide open the massive french doors to reveal our back patio. The outdoor space includes a large area that will soon contain a farm table under our strung cafe lights. Enjoy our slice of heaven and "backyard" with some drinks and indoor/outdoor living that our Quonset Hut brings to the table. While the immediate neighborhood doesn't have much in the way of walkable amenities (yet), local spots within a short distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Filson, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Grab our favorite local pizza at Pie-Sci, or everything Corktown has to offer less than 5 minutes away (Astro Coffee, Slows, Detroit Institute of Bagels, Gold Cash Gold, etc.) Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. The hut is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. Taking photos during your stay? Make sure you #QuonsetHaus.
Up and coming location near the heart of Woodbridge. True North (our development) is an incredibly exciting new addition to the neighborhood (with more on the way). You'll be surrounded by 8 other live/work huts housing absolutely incredible people, doing exciting things here in the city. It truly is a community through and through, and we hope you'll treat it as such during your stay!
  • The QuonsetHaus is such a beautiful, calm and inspiring space. Its central to coffee shops and restaurants and is a perfect getaway in the heart of the City. Its the type of Airbnb that you don't want to leave because its so homie and aesthetically pleasing. Jesse was a great host and was always prompt to answer any questions we had. 10 out of 10 I'd visit again.

    Naomi2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse was super helpful and responsive. The place was amazing and worked perfectly for what my group was trying to accomplish. I hope to stay here again soon.

    Shelby2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Unique development...a must experience. And of course as with all other Jesse's apts, clean as whistle. Apt, towels, bed sheets etc.

    Steven2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse is an excellent host. Always there to help or give suggestions! The space is amazing and I would definitely come back. Such a cool little community:)

    Hannah2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is the third time we have stayed as guests of Jesse (second location in Detroit). Jesse is easy to communicate with, quick to respond, and creates great spaces to call home for a day, or three.

    David2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is a fantastic place to stay in; spacious, perfectly styled, light and it has a nice patio in the back! On the property are a total of seven different huts, an interesting community. The place is centrally located in a quite, safe neigbourhood with bars and restaurants as well as downtown Detroit within a short drive (less than 8 min). Perfect for exploring Detroit! Jesse is a great host, easy to communicate with, caring and prompt. I had a great stay and I definitely want to stay here again!

    Stefan2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse was a fantastic host and had a beautiful clean spot. The record player was awesome! We played it every day we were there. He also had sage that we used to smudge each morning. One of the best features was the wall sized sliding doors that opened the living room all the way up to the outside patio. The rental was perfectly located close to all of our meetings. We would definitely stay here again!

    Tracy2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool, unique space in Detroit. Stayed here for my 30th birthday and loved it. The patio outside was great to have some friends over and provided a nice open air environment inside and out. The interior design is very well done - great vibe. Thanks Jesse!

This is our home, but my wife and I are volunteering with the YMCA trying to help the refugee crisis in Greece for a minimum of six months. Your stay is our source of funds keeping us there, and we thank you! Original details and a historic beauty. Super clean! Backyard, deck, close to DIA, Downtown, Stadiums, Midtown. About the Cleaning Fee: I get none of this amount. There is a neighborhood group of three that help maintain the place. All cleaning fees are a living wage that goes to them.
This house is our home, and you will love it. Very clean, with great detail. Some furnishing will change once we move out, but the aesthetics and the quality will be the same. Pool room is separate if desired.
We are in one of the best areas of Detroit. We are very close to downtown. It is a quaint little neighborhood with tree lined streets and great neighbors. Detroit safety and emptiness comes up often. This house is in the safest part of Detroit. We are the only area that is patrolled by three police departments due to Wayne State University and the variety of medical centers near by. Many are thrown off by the current state of Detroit. There are amazing small "islands" of great neighborhoods throughout the city, but a lot of emptiness, graffiti, and development between all of them. You can't escape it if you are staying in Detroit. It's the nature of our city. This house is in one of the safest and most quiet neighborhoods in all of Detroit. We are only a mile from city center and most attractions. My reviews tend to be all 5 stars except sometimes we fall short in "location". I attribute this to guests being unfamiliar with Detroit, so I am trying to give a more detailed background of the nature of our city.
  • Great location. House was very clean and had everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well. The decor was very cool. We were very comfortable here during a short business trip.

  • George's home was beautiful and located near lot's of great restaurants and bars. Check in was totally effortless. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book the home again.

    Melissa2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • George is a great host, he makes himself available to answer questions immediately even during the holidays. The 100+ year old restored home is beautiful with a lot of attention to detail in every room. It was very clean and provided a comfortable environment for my family and I to spend time together. Thank you George for your hospitality!

  • The house was amazing and exactly as described. Highly recommended!

    Luke2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at George's place was fantastic. Great central location for us as we had a gig in Detroit and Windsor on consecutive nights. The house itself was beautiful and we each had a comfy bed to sleep on. We also watched a fair amount of Netflix when we got home from shows which was a nice bonus. Also, he left a six pack of beer for us!

    Seth2015-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • George is a great communicator! He always responded quickly, and his notes around the house were very helpful.

Walking Distance to Wayne State University, minutes from all the major freeways, sports arenas, medical centers, and downtown Detroit. The ultimate place to work or play in Detroit!
A spacious bi-level loft style condo, perfect for a large or small group. The loft features a huge family room with exposed brick, beautiful wood trim, art deco-glass, heated floors, and custom lighting throughout.

  • I would love to buy the place

    Von2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • It's such an enormous space! Very convenient to Wayne State for conferences. I enjoyed my stay there--Ivey was a great host and very accommodating. The place is a bit underfurnished and lacking in some amenities, but for only two of us, it worked out very well.

    Quinn2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This space was one of the most spectacular homes I have stayed in . Worth the money! A great entertaining space and accommodating. Ivey Fast response was well appreciated. She was always available and let me and my out of town guest stay pass check out due to last minute travel details!!! Nice quite diverse neighborhood! Clean Clean CLEAN!!

    Danielle Learning2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a great stay with Ivey. She was extremely attentive, accommodating, and easy to communicate with. If there was anything I needed, we were able to work it out almost immediately. The space itself is absolutely huge, clean and beautiful; feels more like a home than just a loft. The area itself is super close to some of the hole in the wall spots around Wayne States Campus and the people in the neighborhood were extremely friendly. I would absolutely recommend this space and it would be the first place I would consider for another stay. Ivey is a great host. 5 stars all the way!

Welcome to the JD Baer Mansion a historic restoration 50 years in the making! Step back in time to the Gilded age of American History and experience a beautiful restoration of an 1888 historic gem. Located at the heart of Historic Woodbridge in Detroit, the JD Baer Mansion sat vacant and collapsing for over 50 years before embarking on its long restoration Journey (Look up JD Baer Mansion for more details) . Experience the home titans of industry once built.
The restoration of the home repurposed the Mansion into Luxury condo units. The attic space was captured specifically as an AirBnB unit because of its unique angles and profile. The space is a large studio with spaces designed at each wing and a main central kitchen/dining/gathering space at its cathedral peak. There is a queen size in one of the wings. The second wing is a comfortable sitting area with television. The front wing is a small reading nook couch that can be transformed into a pull out sleeping area or small gathering area. Occupancy is limited to two adult and one young child. The space is not suitable for very tall people because of the angles nor is it suitable for three adults.
Woodbridge is a great Artistically inclined walkable neighborhood just off the main retail corridor of the city. Its beautiful tree lined streets boast some of the best historically significant architecture in the city of Detroit. It is a short walk to some of the best restaurants an retail amenities that the city has to offer. We are a very quiet neighborhood for anyone looking to relax but be conveniently located. It is a very safe area of Detroit. We are patrolled by Wayne State University Police which has some of the best response times in the nation.
  • Alex is a great host and this place has a lot of charm and character. Conveniently located to all of Detroit while nestled in a quiet neighborhood that lends itself to evening walks through the neighborhood located directly behind the home. Great neighbors and everything you need to feel at home. Highly recommend!

    Phil2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Considering that we were only in town for a couple nights, we didn't get the chance to utilize all the wonderful amenities that the AirBnB had to offer (kitchen, tv space, etc). Truly the photos do not do the justice for the beautiful and thoughtful approach Alex and his team had when renovating his place. If we could have taken the bed home with us, we would have! So comfortable! Alex was super accommodating to our travel schedule and during the early check in, we met his cleaner who was such a sweet lady using all organic products. Major plus for us. We truly felt safe in this space due to its structure, access points and solid build. This is a wonderful space for a couple and is pretty convenient to Midtown, Eastern Market, Corktown, etc. Well done, Alex! Hope to be back!

  • Location is easy to get to from I-94. Located near some of the best food in all of Detroit, easy access to local breweries and Two James Distillery. Apartment is spacious and very clean. Separate heat and A/C is very nice for making your stay comfortable. Alex is very attentive and quick to respond to questions. Great experience, Thank you Alex.

    Eric2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay in this funky, charming, comfortable loft. The place was really clean and well decorated! We were centrally located in the city and were easily able to explore Detroit. Alex was so accommodating and easy to communicate with. Can't wait to stay here again!

    Susan2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful apartment. Good location. Clean, quiet and comfortable. The listing is accurate. Everything was as promised.

    Sandor2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really unique space with a unique history. The building is stunning with its fine brick work, interior woodwork, and beautiful fittings. The rental space is all pitched roofs, as you can expect from an attic, but with clean, modern finishings that give it a dramatic look. The only downside is that you do have to duck when entering the living spaces; I'm 5'8" and the vertex of the bedroom was just an inch or two above my head. But this is a small issue compared to how nice the space is and the quiet, leafy neighborhood in which it is set.

    Christian2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great host! Very responsive to questions, had to book last minute as other plans fell through. Would highly recommend

    Reid2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for two months and we couldn't have been happier with the location, Alex's responsiveness and the house itself. Parking was never an issue and the apartment had everything we needed for our time there (including all kitchen supplies). The amenities were high quality and modern and the house was historic and beautiful. Bed was very comfortable! Also the AC works very well so we never had a problem with it being too hot on the third floor. The neighborhood around it is also really beautiful, it is filled with historic homes that have been beautifully renovated. The area felt very safe. Going out to dinner in the city was very convenient because it was a short 7 min drive or so. I was worried about the slanted ceilings feeling too cramped but it was completely fine and even made it feel cozy. Absolutely would stay there again and recommend if you're visiting the area.

I highly recommend booking with SuperHosts, especially for first timers. As of 2017, AirBnb had over 3 Million+ Listings but only 85,000 of these were given SuperHost Status (less than 3%)--it truly makes a difference to book a SuperHost Listing, especially if you want a comfortable, clean place for your money. I subscribe to AirBnb Smart Pricing which automatically sets the prices on all of my listings based on supply and demand. Recommendation is to book if available since INSTANT BOOK is also set up for guests who have been pre-approved by AirBnb. You don't want to miss out on an amazing place by waiting! All beds have tempurpedic mattresses and/or toppers as well as a minimum of 4 pillows of varying softness/firmness on each bed--which does not include the decorative pillows. This is a 1500 sq ft. 3rd Floor Walk Up, 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Loft Condo located in The Van Vliet Condo Complex in the Woodbridge Historic District of Midtown Detroit, across from Wayne State Matthaei Football Stadium and Wayne State University Main Campus, just down the street from world famous Henry Ford Hospital. There is probably no neighborhood that has done so much in recent years than Midtown Detroit. The area is a blend of history, luxury apartments, modest townhouses and lofts, of services like dry cleaning and a hardware store, of restaurants, galleries and Detroit’s own Wayne State University, the Medical Center and the Culture Center- all making this a very attractive place to be. Midtown hosts two million visitors annually, has a daytime population of over 50,000 and has the largest concentration of cultural, educational and medical institutions in southeast Michigan. It has two radio stations, three cinemas, 10 museums, over 70 restaurants, its own symphony, two historic inns and 12 galleries. Restaurants and nightlife abound, makes this one of the best walkable neighborhoods. This very modern and chic styled loft condo which is only blocks away from Detroit's Main Street known as M-1 Woodward Avenue, an official All-American Road, as listed by the National Historic Scenic Byways Program. Walk a couple of blocks down Warren Avenue to catch the QLine Light Rail Train System at the Warren Avenue stop and go straight downtown for $3 for an all day riding pass--woohoo!!! Woodbridge is one of the coolest neighborhoods in the D! Woodbridge is a historic neighborhood of primarily Victorian homes located in Detroit, Michigan. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, with later boundary increases in 1997 and 2008. In addition to its historic value, Woodbridge is also notable for being an intact neighborhood of turn-of-the-century homes within walking or biking distance of Detroit's Downtown, Midtown, New Center, and Corktown neighborhoods, being the former neighborhood of Ty Cobb and world famous skate boarder Tony Hawk currently owns a second home in the neighborhood as well. There is probably no neighborhood that has done so much in recent years than Midtown. You are only blocks away from Detroit's Main Street known as M-1 Woodward Avenue, an official All-American Road, as listed by the National Historic Scenic Byways Program. Walk a couple of blocks down Warren Avenue to catch the QLine Light Rail Train System on Woodward Avenue at the Warren Avenue stop and go straight downtown for $1.50--woohoo!!! Detroit is a bike friendly city with over 400+ MoGo bikes available to rent and ride around the area, located at 43 different bike stations. Check out the MoGo website or download the MoGo app for more information on how to get some exercise while touring the area on 2 wheels. Check out my Guidebook which has over 50 different places worth knowing about and invite other guests to this reservation so they have access to all this information as well.
  • My business partner and I really enjoyed staying here. The location is great, the spaces are lovely and Jerry made it easy for us.

  • This was an absolutely perfect place for our group (10 guys) to stay during a bachelor party weekend in Detroit. Less than 10 minutes away by Uber from Comerica Park and the casinos, it was a great location. There is a ton of space in the condo, and it truly does feel hip and upscale. Really neat building with fast wifi in a safe area. Jerry was great host. He was super responsive and helpful with check-in. I would not hesitate to stay here again. We brought two extra air mattresses with us, and it was perfect for sleeping 10 people. A group under 10 wouldn't need any additional beds or anything else other than what Jerry provides.

    Bo2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place - a great alternative to big corporate hotels. Quiet neighborhood I had never heard of, but very convenient to everything. Jerry is a great host. Super responsive and clear on what to do.

  • We enjoyed the place and felt it accommodated our large group well. It was in a good location for us and we enjoyed the walking distance to the Woodbridge Pub. Jerry was great to work with and allowed us to check-in early so we could make our Red Wings game. We will definitely come back!

    Amy2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • A warm gas fire in the fireplace welcomed us. The place is spacious and filled with thoughtful amenities. A pot of coffee ready at the push of a button. It was quiet and very comfortable. Woodbridge is an up and coming neighborhood. Jerry was instantly available.

  • Wonderful spot to stay at.

    Carl2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry's place is unique and is nestled into a quiet neighbor hood that has some local bars/pizza place nearby. We loved the quick access to 1-94 as we did a bit of traveling to nearby cities. Jerry's place has everything you'd need for a short term or long term stay. The only rough part was the temps were super cold in Detroit (as one would expect in January). We had some initial troubles regarding apartment access and heat given the 10F temps, but Jerry was VERY responsive and was able to adequately troubleshoot and quickly. He even sent over another portable heater for the apartment. If you're looking for a place in Detroit that is unique, clean and makes a good jumping off place for exploration with a responsive host, this is it.

    Sarah2017-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry was a great host. He was very quick on getting back to us when we had questions. It was lovely to have coffee ready to go (and available). I would highly recommend this place. Neigbourhood is in transition so very interesting.

  • Amazing apartment! Loved staying here. Randall was easy to communicate with and gave great local restaurant suggestions. Self check-in was a breeze and commute to downtown was fast. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Hello: I came to Detroit with an Architect who I am working on a project with. We are both quite keen on where we stay and the nest did not let us down. We were very intrigued by the locale when we found the listing, and the NEST delivered. This is one hell of a place to stay. The community where this little love NEST lies is something super special, and the nest, itself, is on another level - literally! the abode is perched 35 feet above the ground in a Quonset Hut. Both the architect and I were blown away... and we are not easily impressed. Randall was a very nice and attentive host, and we even invited him to hang with us and have a beers (which he had left in the fridge for us). He provided the architect with an additional mattress so that the best could comfortably sleep us both. The space is divided with bookshelves so we both had privacy when sleeping. We slept with our sliding doors open and the FEAUX Fireplace roaring! Loved it. My only regret is that I wasn't holed up in the Nest with a lover - my God, what an evening that would be. Snow falling in Detroit, here we are in the middle of a quiet and non-descript neighborhood, 30 feet above the earth nestled in a beautiful, sophisticated, clean, and special space. Fireworks!!! Long live the NEST!

  • This is an opportunity to stay in a really amazing space. What they are doing at True North is so innovative and I think this is great way to experience Detroit and its creative energy. The space is tranquil but central, immaculately clean, artistic and inspiring. Highly recommend.

    Jesse2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Nest is a unique property with a minimalist and inspiring atmosphere. We will be back!

  • Spent the night in Detroit for a girlfriends birthday and had he best time!! We love the Nest!

    Natalia2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first stay as an Airbnb guest. I chose this property for it's uniqueness and to give my BF a new experience that he wouldn't expect to find in Detroit. In addition, I wanted a romantic space for Sweetest Day, a day we celebrate in the Midwest. The Nest did not disappoint in either area. It's an amazing space in the middle of true urban Detroit living. We enjoyed our breakfast, with the sliding doors open, for a crisp morning view and fresh air. We enjoyed the ambiance of the fire place; really, the entire place. The small hut community was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Note: If you are a light sleeper, you may want to bring ear plugs because there is a busy road nearby. I give this property a 5-star and highly recommend. Property Manager, Randy, was exceptional regarding questions and follow-up. He even found flowers to put in The Next to help make our evening more romantic.

    Tamara2017-10-22T00:00:00Z

This is a private room in an open-layout sunny upstairs unit of a recently-renovated Victorian house in the historical Woodbridge neighborhood. Our house features a new modern kitchen with rustic touches, security system, super-fast fiber optic internet, heat & A/C, and a large backyard. At any given time, there is either one or two dogs staying in the apartment. Stooie, a spunky Boston Terrier, lives permanently here. Sofie, a loveable French Bulldog, visits from time to time.
This unit has been recently renovated and features a brand new kitchen and bathroom and new flooring in the common areas. Unit is climate-controlled which is a rarity in the old houses in this neighborhood; not only will you be warm in the winter but a rush of cold air will greet you upon arrival in the hot summers.. Enjoy the balcony while taking in a view of the Fisher Building lit up at night (only viewable certain times of year). Or sit back and relax in front of a fire out in the spacious backyard with several gardens. If the weather is bad outside, I have a wall-mounted 45 inch HDTV in your room for privacy and fiber optic internet.
Woodbridge is a historic neighborhood in Detroit that is home to an eclectic group of students, young families, young professionals and older retirees. We don't have much retail within the neighborhood; there is the Woodbridge Pub which is decent but I would recommend other bars close by but outside of the neighborhood. Pie Sci just opened up last year right next to Woodbridge Pub and is our first restaurant within the neighborhood. I honestly go there several times a month to eat.
  • Clean, affordable and very nicely located house in friendly and beautiful Woodbridge area. Not far from Corktown, in bicycle distance. Andrew's communicates well and is a very good host. All in all a very affordable bnb very well located to discover Detroit.

    Marc2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend everyone traveling into Detroit to stay here! For it's cost, it's everything(if not more) than you'll expect. Andrew is a friendly, wonderful host and very knowledgeable:)

  • Andrew's place is nice and in a good neighborhood. The communication with Andrew was super easy. He didn't have time to change the sheets, but gave us a refund for that. Would recommend it if you need a place to crash!

    Deborah Raika2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was a kind host. I appreciated the timely responses, snuggles from Stewie ( the pup) and the location, which was a 10 minute ride from many places.

  • Exactly as described, comfortable, convenient to Midtown and WSU - and Andrew is a friendly, laid-back, and generally fabulous host.

The room available is on the third floor. You get a private full bathroom and a parking space behind the garage. There is a patio deck off of the kitchen (which is on the second-level). It is in a new condominium unit in a historic district called Woodbridge in Detroit. Approximately 2 miles from downtown Detroit.
We have a plot of land behind the unit with a firepit, and a liquor store with many convenient items. My unit is on the end, so there is a lot of natural light. The bottom floor mostly consists of the garage and storage, and this is where the water heater and furnace are. There is a half bath on the second floor, along with the kitchen and living room. The third floor is where the bedrooms are, along with full bathroom in each room. There is a closet on the third floor with the washing machine and dryer.
My small, historic neighborhood consists of a lot of families, college students, and young single people. There are a lot of people with pets, and you will see many people out walking their dogs when it is nice. There are mostly very large, very old houses, but I live in a newer condo in a strip of 4 condos.
  • PERFECT location for a trip to the city. $6 Über ride to Comerica Park or you could walk. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. If you want to "live like a local" this is a great choice. Carolyn is a great hostess. Top notch communication. Comfy bed with cozy bedding. Quiet neighborhood and easy to find.

    Angela2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn communicated every detail, was quick to respond and available to help. The room was clean and comfortable. It was easy to drive and visit downtown, go to Canada and back, and see Institute of Arts, all in one morning.

Woodbridge is one of the best locations to stay when visiting Detroit! We are only an eight minute drive from the center of downtown and only five minutes from Midtown and Corktown, where most restaurants and bars are. We are all young professionals that work downtown living in a beautiful 4 bedroom home. When you stay here, you will have the master loft on the third floor, which is essentially a huge studio with a private bathroom.
  • Such a great space! Having the entire third floor offered a lot of privacy. It is a very spacious and the updated private bathroom was very nice. I would definitely stay here again!

Friendly hosts who are knowledgeable about the area. Short bike ride to Wayne State University, midtown, and downtown areas. Free street parking and bikes available to lend.
Our neighborhood is a unique jewel in the city. The homes and the density of the neighborhood have been well-preserved for over 100 years, and our neighbors are creative and interesting people.
  • Beautiful home, easy to get around and Sean had great recommendations and was very friendly.

    Betty2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nice hosts, good location. In midtown close to cute bars and shops. We had to leave early and the host was very understanding. An issue was a lack of privacy as the house is old and you can hear everything from a burp to a step on the stairs, and there is one bathroom shared by everyone in the house.

    Tea2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended!!! Clean, comfortable room/bed, good area, great hosts!!!

    Jorge2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Cat were very welcoming! They were as accommodating as they could be of my (very) early arrival. The clean space, comfortable bed, beautiful home, and friendly hosts made my trip to Detroit the least stressful leg of a long business trip.

    Brianna2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sean's place is an historic home, recently renovated and in excellent shape. The room is a great size and the bed is comfortable! The neighbourhood felt very safe, lined with beautiful houses and big trees. You are a short drive from Midtown and Corktown, two great neighbourhoods in Detroit. Communication was very easy and Sean was nice enough to let us know of some events going on in the city which we were able to check out and provide suggestions for restaurants and bars! I would highly recommend staying here!

  • Sean and Cat were great! Their house is lovely and the room is nicer than most hotels. They also offered great restaurant and activity suggestions in Detroit, and seemed generally delightful. Their neighborhood also offered a great starting point for exploring the city. I'd definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to any friends visiting Detroit.

Master bedroom in the third floor apartment of a historic home in Midtown. Unique space with lots of light, great kitchen, small rear balcony, and a fenced-in grassy backyard. Right near all the cool Midtown spots. This is a 2BR apartment; I stay in the other bedroom.
This is the top floor of a beautiful house on West Forest Avenue in Midtown Detroit. Unit is two bedrooms, shared with the host. Private bedroom is large, set in the round turret of the house. You also get a great kitchen, living room with cable TV, WiFi, washer/dryer in the apartment should you need them.
Midtown is a bustling, fun neighborhood. Within blocks are the Detroit Institute of Arts, Wayne State U., Jack White's Third Man Records, Detroit Public Library, Shinola store, large assortment of art galleries, Bronx Bar, Jolly Pumpkin Brewery (Obama ate there :) ), Hopcat Brewery, legendary bar The Old Miami...lots of fun and interesting places within easy walking distance.
  • My in-person interaction with Matt was minimal, but he was very responsive and helpful. No complaints!

    Greg2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We booked our room at Matthew's at the very last minute after the hotel we were supposed to stay in canceled our reservation. Matthew was just about to leave the house and gave us precise instructions to find the house / car park / Keys. He lives in a nice typical Detroit victorian house.

    Lucie2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed staying here, it was everything I expected! Thanks Matthew!

    Nitika2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Matthew's place on a Friday evening and booked last minute. Matthew was extremely accommodating and flexible in getting the room ready for us. The location was great for our travel needs, however, it was loud until about 2:30 am in the neighborhood from outside noises and others in apartments below. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, just the apartment in general is outdated. It served it's purpose well for us, we just will look for a little quieter neighborhood next time.

    Mackenzie2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew provides travelers with a clean, comfortable and convenient place in Midtown Detroit, within walking (or short bus ride) distance of a number of sites, attractions, or institutions. Visitors will appreciate the ease of check-in, as well as the dimensions of the room, which includes a large walk-in closet with multiple shelves and hangar space, and four windows overlooking the street and part of the city-scape. There are the usual city sounds on weekend nights, but those soon fade and are replaced by the quiet of the night, and early morning, and one awakens from a good night's sleep on the large and comfortable bed ready for the day's activities from one's "base" in the middle of the city. Generous refrigerator space/access is also a plus for travelers, and, should one desire, use of a washer and dryer.

    david2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • After introductions, Matthew showed me around the flat, describing the amenities and explaining the ins and outs of his routine and that he would do whatever was needed to not interfere with any routines I may have to further my enjoyment of my purpose for being in Detroit, but that he would be available for me to the degree I desired. And so it happened. The neighborhood is an old one that is now largely inhabited by students attending Wayne State University. Their presence on the street--in just the right numbers--lent an assurance of street safety to the neighborhood. There were a number of eateries, including at least one bar & grill--largely, but not exclusively patronized by students--within walking distance. The house in about mid-block, making it a quiet stay--only occasionally was traffic noise a momentary reminder of the major streets nearby.

    Annie (and Jack)2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect location for my trip. I was within walking distance of my training site. The room was adorable with a little bay that would have been perfect for yoga if I'd brought my map. Our schedules did not coincide much but we had a couple interesting conversation. Would definitely rebook if I attend this training next year.

    Njoke2016-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in the middle of midtown. Matt made me feel very comfortable and everything went off without a hitch. There was a small window AC unit in the bedroom which was great for hot summer nights. I only saw Matt the first night but he was easy to reach via text in case anything came up. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful Four Square turn of the century house in the Historic Woodbridge Neighborhood. Mid-town location in the cultural district next to Wayne State University.
Cathy is an urban gardener/horticulturalist/artist. Gary is an animator/artist/educator.
The Woodbridge Historic Neighborhood(1860's - 1920's) is a modern day Mayberry in an urban/rural setting.
  • Me and my husband stayed at Gary and Cathy's house in Detroit for a full month. It was a very special time for us as we tried to explore Detroit as a possible future home. Gary and Cathy were very welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. They were very helpful and even provided us with an additional study room. We very much enjoyed our stay with them.

    Ozsel 2014-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gary's apartment is right in the heart of Detroit and went out of his way to make our stay safe and enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable about the city and it was great to talk to him and his recommendations for where to go in the city. Also, the house is beautiful - Gary made us breakfast created from vegetables grown in local gardens, which was a real treat.

    Ramya2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure for me to stay at the Casa Avery. Living with Cathy, Gary and Barney was one of the best things which could happen to me in Detroit! All the three of them are very nice, their house is beautiful and the location is great! We had a lot of fun together and they gave me the chance to meet a bunch of really nice and interesting people from Detroit. There is nothing bad to say - I just enjoyed my stay and had some awesome days during the spring of Detroit - enough to fell in love with the city! PS: If you can get the chance to do the "Post Industrial Apocalyptic Landscape Tour" with Gary, go for it!

    Lucas2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Gary and Cathy (and Barney) for being such gracious hosts! It was very enjoyable chatting with you guys and thanks for all the great insights and info on Detroit - very helpful! I also enjoyed the opportunity to briefly experience living in Woodbridge and getting a taste of how it would be to live in Detroit. The neighbourhood is pretty safe and is home to a lot of Wayne State faculty, staff and students. It was an easy 25-30 minute walk to the WSU campus and Midtown area. Guests also have access to bikes (comes with helmet and lock), which is amazing. Just ask Gary to adjust the seat if needed. Uber is also a great way to get around if you don't have a car. The house is beautiful and has all of the original details (woodwork, stained glass, leaded glass windows and even clawfoot tub). The bathroom has a gorgeous gaudi-inspired floor! The backyard is a wonderful place to have your coffee and breakfast in the morning. Thanks again, Gary and Cathy, for a pleasant stay.

  • I had a nice conversation with Gary and Cathy after a day of exploration in the city. Gary was able to provide us with bikes and some helpful tips about the local environs before we set out. Although we were a bit delayed, Gary was quite accommodating in the check in process. The house is decorated artfully and it's conveniently located by bicycling standards.

  • I had a great stay at Cathy`s and Gary`s place! Cathy and Gary made me feel very welcome and I definitely can recommend their place!

    Thomas2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Detroit is an amazing and thought provoking city. Gary and Cathy help you to understand and explore it to its best because they are so generous with their welcome and knowledge. Woodbridge is a good place to be based we found a car important to see as much of the city as possible. Do the post apocalyptic tour if at all possible.

    Simon 2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Gary and Cathy were great hosts, and the house was in a perfect locale for my visit. They were accommodating, flexible, and informative about Detroit and the neighborhood. Barnie (their lovable, fluffy dog) was a great bonus too.

Great choice for large groups and single travelers alike! See the Motown Museum before the expansion! 1880's Victorian home once a banquet hall, bakery and boarding house. Many famous people have stayed or tipped their glass here most notably Henry Ford, Profit Jones and Pete the dog from the Little Rascals! 4 + bedrooms, a full kitchen and 2 full baths. I live on the main with 2 older gentle cats. I provide the amount and types of beds each group needs. Contact me and lets discuss your needs!
This space is unique to the area because it can comfortably house up to 20. It may be your only choice for large groups in central Detroit to stay together in a home setting. Please lets discuss your situation and I'll fill your needs. The house is a lovely East Lake Victorian that has been featured in films and involved in the arts community by holding events and housing artists of all genres. The second floor still has some of the Musical instruments and guests are welcomed to play them!
Voted best neighborhood to live in Detroit. Walkable, safe, ample free street parking, next to Midtown, Downtown, Corktown, Tech Town and New Center.
  • Amazing place with a extremely inviting and friendly host. Very artsy historic home. Surprisingly quiet neighborhood. We loved the cats. The perfect place for a large group.

    Holly2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location near the Masonic Temple Theater and veggie-friendly restaurants. The house has majestic character. Jean is a friendly host with excellent communication.

    Matt2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jean was a very accommodating host. Very flexible with arrival and departures time. We had rented the whole space for a group from Chicago going to Theater Bizarre. There was 13 of us and many local friends coming and going. Plenty of space. The house is a vintage art house. It is full of character, amazing art and quirky charm. For us, a group of burners who value expression over most things, it was ideal. There were plenty of linens, towels and toiletries. More of a hostel vibe in this space. If you are looking for a modern space with a flat screen this is not for you. But, if you have a group of fun people who are in Detroit for an event, definitely a great space. Neighborhood is nice and felt safe as well. Plenty of street parking. We would stay with Jean again for any local event/party.

    Captain2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jean's house is spacious and i just what we needed for our family of 10 to stay while we attended a wedding! Having a kitchen meant we didn't have to eat ALL our meals out (although we did eat out a lot and there are great restaurants close by!) And the living room area was great for conversations, and games!! It is a funky old Victorian house with in a fun part of town!

    Milo and Pamela2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Eight of us stayed at Jean's place while we attended Theatre Bizarre. Jean was a great host, allowing my guests to show up earlier while I arrived later. We stayed on the second floor while a larger group stayed on the third floor. Check in and check out times were flexible, which was convenient. There is definitely an atmosphere of trust in the house, with multiple large groups staying in the house at once with no locks on individual rooms. We plan on returning next year!

    David2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jean is an original Detroiter so very knowledgeable on all aspects of the city. She recommended a lot of fun/interesting things to do and was very hospitable. The house is a lovely Victorian home in a quiet neighbourhood and has great facilities and plenty of space.

    Jack2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great and accommodating. We stayed in the third floor, but had use of the second floor as well. While we didn't need the kitchen, it was good to have the option. It was a little warm in the sleeping areas, but still comfortable. More than enough beds (even though I didn't have as many people to use them all as planned). The house is very cool as I love old, late 1800s-early 1900s homes. Even the cats were awesome. Quiet, big street with moderate lighting. There was never a time where I didn't feel safe. I most certainly will look to stay again in the future.

    Robert2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jean was a great host for our group. She knows the area well and recommended a great place to eat in the neighborhood. We had a group of 4 guys in town for a convention downtown and the space was perfect. We had lots of room, easy access and very convenient location. I would stay here again.

This listing is for a self-contained, lower-level, studio apartment. The apartment is located in Woodbridge, a quiet, safe and tree-lined neighborhood, just 1.5 miles from downtown. The studio has its own entrance, open-plan living space, kitchenette and bathroom. It is spacious, at around 650 sq ft, newly renovated and furnished with unique and hand-built features.
This listing is for a self-contained studio apartment with open-plan living space, kitchenette and separate bathroom. The apartment has its own entrance, and access to a shared backyard. We have been hosting on AirBnB for 5 years, and have over a hundred 5* reviews. We were rated the best AirBnB listing in Detroit in the Metro Times in June 2015. If you'd like an AirBnB experience in which the host really knows what they are doing, look no further! The studio apartment occupies the whole lower level of the apartment. It is completely separate from the apartment upstairs, and self-contained - with its own entrance, living area, kitchenette (hot plate, microwave, kettle, fridge, sink) and bathroom. There is a full-sized bed, sofa and wardrobe so you can put away your belongings and really settle in. You do share walls and ceilings with the apartment upstairs, so we really do need guests to be considerate of noise traveling to the other unit (anything above normal conversation level is very audible in the upstairs living room/kitchen), just as our tenants upstairs are considerate of noise traveling to yours. The apartment is in a converted turn-of-the-century brick building. We completed a top-to-toe renovation in March 2014, so its a modern and luxurious conversion. The apartment is accessed via the shared backyard - which guests are welcome to use. In the link to the 'street view' you can see the building (red brick with yellow and green woodwork) with yard and garages to the back. Our apartment is the first floor rear and basement. There are long term tenants that live in the first floor apartment, and the studio is located on the lower level. The two apartments share a utility and laundry area, but are otherwise totally separate. The apartment is in Woodbridge, a historic, quiet and safe neighborhood of Detroit, located just west of Wayne State campus and Midtown, about 2 miles from Downtown. It is located minutes from all freeways, and 20 minutes from DTW international airport. There is ample street parking around the house. The studio is 10 minutes by foot from the neighborhood bar for local beers and eats, 15 minutes on foot to Midtown, and a short drive or bike ride Downtown to dozens of bars and restaurants, the stadiums, riverfront and Eastern Market. We have bikes to rent for those that want to explore on 2 wheels! Please feel free to email with any questions. Thanks! Sophie and Chris
Woodbridge is one of Detroit's most vibrant, safe and stable neighborhoods. Full of tree-lined streets with turn-of-the-century houses, it is beautiful and welcoming. Woodbridge has a weird and wonderful collection of inhabitants, many of whom share a great passion about the neighborhood, and city as a whole. There is a fantastic sense of community here - like none other I've ever experienced. Porch life is one of the best things about the neighborhood. Take a scenic wander along the length of the neighborhood to the local pub for a tasty bite to eat and talk to residents as you go.
  • Sophie's place was perfect for my short trip to Detroit. The unit itself is clean, including the dishes, towels and sheets. It is spacious and has everything needed to make a temporary home very comfortable. Upon booking, a clear and detailed house manual is provided so we had no problems finding keys or anything else. If I needed help with anything Sophie responded almost immediately. We felt very comfortable with the neighbors, the nicest group of people! I was able to park in front of the building upon arrival and that's where the car stayed for three days. The entire city is easily accessible by bike--Midtown via a wide and well-lit pedestrian bridge, and bike lanes all the way to Corktown. Definitely coming back!

  • Sophie and Chris were a perfect hosts. Friendly and super helpful. The studio apartment was even better thn in the photos. Super comfortable bed and lovely big bathroom. Great neighbourhood and easy waking distance to one if Detroit's best restaurant. As kindly recommended by Sophie. Fab stay and can only highly recommend.

    Edward2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The studio apartment was perfect! Sophie let me know that it was just finished - they did an amazing job with it. It has fabulous design details, like a little boutique hotel. It was also very comfortable. I loved the bed - almost too much as I spent much time sleeping! Great location and wonderful hosts. I would definitely stay there again.

    Andrea2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Super clean and spacious - exactly as pictured. Sophie messaged us right away and provided really detailed information about the space and any information we could possibly need. Great time, great airbnb.

    Megan2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend in Detroit! Sophie's place was clean and cozy, exactly like the pictures and description. Communication was great, very clear directions, and friendly neighbors! Would absolutely recommend this place!

    Wayne2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sophie and Chris were great! The dogs were friendly and the studio was clean and beautifully built. I used the space to surprise my girlfriend with a little getaway for a night. Made me realize what a nice neighborhood Woodbridge is, having not visited the area before since it's mostly residential, safe, beautiful and conveniently located near freeways, downtown, and Corktown! The bikes and Motor city soap were a nice touch too!

    Tyler 2015-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sophie and her husband were wonderful hosts! We were met with a smile and a list of some of her local favorite restaurants and places to visit. We went to Detroit to attend a Tigers game and to visit the Detroit Institute of Art. Neither disappointed! In addition we "found" the Henry Ford museum complex which is a must see if you have the time. Driving around Detroit can be shocking and perhaps a lesson for us all. But at no time did I feel unsafe...the people were were inviting and friendly. I highly recommend Detroit and I highly recommend Sophie's studio apartment.

    Vince2015-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sophie is really communicative and kind. Noise does travel a lot but she puts in a lot of effort to warn you beforehand. Kitchen is fairly small but the shower was amazing and for the value it is worth it. Totally worth it if you want to make a quick trip to Detroit.

This is a 2 bedrooms condo apartment with very large living and dining rooms, plus a huge kitchen. One bedroom has a cute balcony. It's very cozy, located in midtown, Detroit. Very close to Wayne State University, New Center area, Q-line stops, MotorCity Casino, less than 10 minutes away from Downtown. Lots of restaurants/pubs nearby in walking distance.
This place is very safe (under the patrol of Wayne State Police Department). Even though it is not far away from the "night life", it is inside a complete residential neighborhood, which is very quiet. It's perfect for a group of friends or family to have fun in midtown/downtown and come back for a rest. In addition, there is a private parking space that allow at most two cars. It's located conveniently next to M10 and I-94 exits.

Spacious apartment located on the third floor of a beautiful old home in the Woodbridge neighborhood. Enjoy the comfort of this adorable third floor apartment. Nice balcony off the back of the home with outdoor table and 4 chairs, and white lights for added ambiance. Large family room with ample seating for entertaining. One bedroom with queen size bed. One large chaise couch for sleeping. Also have access to a queen size air mattress (full disclosure, it will lose a very small amount of air. The bed stays 95% inflated, and remaining 5% can be refilled in matter of seconds by using the electronic switch. We continue to use personally and do not find it to impact sleep). Clean linens and towels will be provided for all sleeping areas, including the couch. Clean towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap will be provided as well. Guests can use the washer and dryer if needed. Laundry detergent is available.
Explore the beautiful and historic neighborhood of Woodbridge. Woodbridge Pub and SciPi Pizza are a block away. My 102 yr old home is walking distance to Wayne State, Midtown, museums, bars & restaurants. It is a 5 min drive to downtown. It is in Woodbridge, a historic neighborhood with lots of charm. Great for traveling cyclists (I am an avid cyclist!), couples, solo adventurers, students, & business travelers. LGBTQ friendly. Please no partying, guests, or pets. Home is shared with me, my girlfriend and a medium sized, friendly, energetic young dog.

Historic neighborhood where I grew up. Behind the house there is a convenience store and dollar store where guests can buy any last minute amenities, snacks or drinks. There is also a grocery store and various restaurants in the neighborhood.
  • A cute room in a lovely historic home on a beautiful leafy street. Caitlin was a great host and very accomodating when I asked for help in getting around and finding things. Great central and safe spot for lone travellers perhaps a bit small for couples?? The fresh picked raspberries from her garden were a real treat!

Our street has homes dating from the 1860s To 1910. Some are completely renovated, Some are in the process. We are in an 1892 Romanesque Revival home. We are in the heart of the city. Minutes from Wayne State University, Downtown, the Cultural Center , three stadiums, and the Medical Center. You can be anywhere in the city or suburbs in minutes via the three expressways that come together near us. The airport is twenty minutes away. There is plenty of free parking in front.
The room is in a private corner of our home. It overlooks the street with a large window. The view is of two 1876 Second Empire homes with an attached forest. The unique aspect of our street is that it feels like the country when we are less than a mile from skyscrapers and restaurants for every taste. There is an attached private half bath. The shower is in the shared bathroom on the same floor. There is a walk in closet if you need it.
We are in the Woodbridge Farm Historic District. Our neighbors are friendly down to earth people. While our street seems more like the country, two streets over it is very different. The homes are very close together and are very urban. They are beautiful, renovated Victorian and turn of the century examples. The streets are tree lined and perfect for a walk on a hot Summer day. The streets in the other direction are completely different. It is a brand new neighborhood of homes, condos, and townhouses. All were built in the last ten years.

This is one of the best neighborhoods in all of Detroit. Lots of families and students from Wayne State. Only a mile from downtown, and close to the DIA, Midtown, The Fox, Comerica, Ford Field, and any other attraction. Although super close, its a super quiet tree lined street.

  • We decided to try Airbnb for a short trip to Detroit. We loved George's restored 4BR home in the Woodbridge neighborhood. The house was very clean and tastefully decorated. There were 6 of us so everyone had their own bedroom. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were renovated and modern without losing the character of the old home (loved the exposed brick in the downstairs bathroom). The living room was comfortable but it would have been nice to have more seating as opposed to the piano that took up a lot of space. Overall, I would stay at George's again and I would recommend it to others.

    Susan2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our visit to Detroit! George was very accommodating with our arrival time and left a list of great recommendations in the area. The house was clean and beds were very comfortable! The neighborhood was nice and close to everything we wanted to do. I would love to stay at this property again in the future! Thanks George!

  • George made me feel very welcomed even though I didn't meet him everything was set up so smooth a text day of with how to get in, the heat set perfect, cute little laminated instructions and all! I had a large group meeting up at the house before our concert and we knew to keep volume down, it was nice he had the smart tv also to play music and things. I would recommend to any but make sure you have a for sure head count due to the fact I estimated less day off access to other bedroom were cut off so I had to sleep on the couch. The two bedrooms downstairs fit 4 and then a couch. Very easy to communicate with him and locations was 5 minutes from downtown and very safe area!

  • It's a cozy place to stay in a couple of days. Overall, he is a good and thoughtful host. Staying at his place is not for traveling, but my place has some events going on. I need to find a place to focus on my works so I didn't chat with him at all. This neighborhood is relatively quiet in Detroit. In the neighborhood I live in Detroit, rock n roll and heavy metal music radiate from cars passing my place. For the male host, he has done good jobs to keep things cleaned and organized. I have good experience to stay at his place.

He met me upon arrival and showed me around the apartment. He then advised of neighbourhood facilities and helped advise on and clarify my sightseeing objectives. Working full-time he was gone by 7.30am, leaving me full access to the apartment facilities. In the evenings he was available for further advice and recommendations. On the morning of my departure he very kindly went out of his way to drop me in central Detroit during morning rush hour to allow me to catch my bus. The room was generously sized and very comfortable with a good double bed. I also had full private access to a fully equipped bathroom. The third floor apartment has a fully equipped kitchen and dining facilities and lounge area with TV. The aparment is finished in an urban industrial style to a high standard and was very clean. Although on a street that is a local thoroughfare traffic noise was never a problem. The street features vacant lots but all of these are well-kept, some used by locals for community gardens etc. The area felt completely safe during my nightly walks to the local pub for dinner. Local amenities include convenience stores/liquor outlets as well as the previously-mentioned pub. The no. 29 bus delivers to the Rosa Parks Transit Center downtown in 15 minutes. The Detroit Institute of Arts (the proximity of which was the original reason for the choice of this apartment) is within a good half to three quarter hour walk along flat roads. All in all a very good location and place to stay.

  • My two night stay at Woodbridge House was even better than I could expect. I really enjoyed the neighborhood and it was super convenient to Downtown, Corktown, Mexican town, and a Whole Foods. The set-up was SO CLEAN and COMFORTABLE. Erin was a great host and really made an effort to help me find what I needed. I wholeheartedly recommend.

  • Erin has a wonderful home in the Woodbridge neighborhood. She was very accommodating to my arrival schedule. Her dog was welcoming as well. The room is large with tons of natural light and the attached bathroom was wonderful! I loved all the little welcoming touches, travel sized products in the bathroom, basket of granola bars in the kitchen. The front porch was a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Very convenient to downtown, midtown, and corktown.

  • I stayed Erin's house for 7days. During that times, Erin always made me comfortable and gave a lot of information and kindness. So I was absolutely satisfied with the house. If I have to go Detroit, I must choose Erin's house and Vasco?(I don't know this spelling is right ) her dog was nice too. Very frendly and meek. Finally, thank you Erin. It was memorable time.

  • Erin was amazing. Her place is very quiet and a absolutely the most comfortable bed I've ever stayed in. I actually wanted to stay an extra night but couldn't! She was very accommodating and gave us lots of direction about where we needed to go.

    Michelle2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Erin Has been perfect from the beginning to the end. Professional and friendly at the same time, I had an amazing experience staying at her place. The flat is huge and we had our own private bathroom.

  • Erin was a wonderful host. She and her boyfriend gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat and things to see--I only wish we could have stayed in Detroit longer! The house itself is beautiful and spacious. And in the room we stayed in: the queen bed was very comfortable, and the private bathroom was perfect.

  • Amazing place to stay in Detroit! In a beautiful house. We enjoyed it a lot. And we would definitely like to come back. It was a great walk from the house to downtown, Detroit is really a beautiful city, if you are there on a Monday, I recommend you check out the Slow Roll Detroit it's an awesome event where hundreds of people bike through downtown Detroit towards the evening wearing beautiful lights on their bicycles and playing music. We ate at Seva the vegan restaurant nearby Ann's house which was quite good.

    Nicolas2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is so incredibly generous and her place is beautiful and so welcoming. I still can't believe she made me coffee in the morning and even lent me her car to go to the drug store.

    Sarah2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was a lovely host and her home, originally built in the 1890s, is absolutely charming and full of Detroit history. Ann is a very interesting person with tons of recommendations - take her up on them! Our room was cozy, kitchen large and clean, and fresh coffee available in the morning. Very well located on Wayne State campus with good restaurants close by.

    Aliya2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's house is absolutely beautiful. I had a lovely stay here. Very comfortable and a good location in midtown. Thank you Ann!

    Lee2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to visit fascinating Detroit, don't stay at Ann's house: it's a beautiful old house where you will want to linger rather than go sightseeing. This honey-colored wooden house is in a very good location. Ann bakes bread and muffins, both delicious, and is the hostess you'd like to meet.

    Giacomo2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this room for the evening and then extended my booking and stayed in Ann's other room. Both rooms were gorgeous and Ann was so generous to let me stay the extra 2 nights.

    Sam2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Ann's house was a perfect spot from which to visit Detroit for my first time! It is centrally located on the Wayne State campus, and walkable to the DIA and many bars and restaurants. I got around Detroit on Mogo, the bike share, and it was totally doable without a car! There are a couple Mogo stations within walking distance from Ann's place (and only $8 for 24 hours). I had the beautiful house to myself for my stay and Ann was very accommodating with letting me come back later on checkout day for my bags. Communication with her was always very easy and I appreciated her neighborhood recommendations. Be sure to check out her bakery, Avalon! I made it there twice and am still enjoying the bread I brought home. I'll be sure to check with Ann for availability next time I come to Detroit!
