Nature
“It is actually bigger than the institute building (bathrooms, gift shop, parking lot for visitors and hikers)--it's called Glen Helen, a real glen. An amazing, huge, wilderness just beside the bike path right in town. Wonderful trails, ancient rock outcroppings, shallow caves, a long bridge over the stream, a waterfall, wildflowers, and the magic waters of the yellow spring--dip your finger in it, make a mark on your forehead, and you are destined to return.”

Ice Cream Shop
“Relax under the shady canopies of trumpet vines while you enjoy a soft-serve ice cream cone, sundae, or gourmet hot dog (they do offer a veggie hotdog or brat, but they're only so-so). They're also cool with you using their tables to enjoy the Indian food you've picked up at the Aahar India food truck next door (pro tip -- bump up the spice a notch, then enjoy some ice cream!) Lines can get long on hot days.”
