“Nice place to hang out. Visit the observatory and the remains of the Abbey - or go to the museum itself”

Church
“Built well over 500 years ago, it’s one of the largest and most beautiful buildings to visit in all of Yorkshire. Now, heads up, you will need to pay a fee to enter, but you can save a pretty penny if you purchase a York Pass that allows entry to lots of the main sites in the city. It’s easily one of the best things to do in York and totally impressive. Also, if you’re looking for a little bit of a challenge, ask at the ticketing counter to climb the tower itself. Yup, it’s just under 300 steps but it’s well worth it for view all across the city. ”

“Obvious if you like art, but also The Association of Voluntary Guides start their tour at 10am each day from outside the Art Gallery”

History Museum
“Well worth a trip! As if the museum itself wasn't enough, the museum's gardens, simply known by locals as 'museum gardens' is very pretty. With St. Mary's Abbey, a ruined Benedictine Abbey as a back drop, you will amaze your friends with some pretty fanatastic photographs!”

“We are lucky enough to have two of these bars in York, both different in appearance but equal in their offering. Great beer and wine and a wholesome food offering. A York staple.”

“Choose one of the hundreds of cocktails on offer (Eva's favourite is The Battenberg) before taking a seat outside along the wall mural or stumble up the wonky staircase to sit on a four poster bed looking over the bustling Harry Potter style streets of York. You'll be sure to meet some interesting characters here. Johnny Depp gives it a thumbs up!”

“There is a National Trust property here, and also the lovely farm shop and cafe 'Home Farm'. There are plenty of cows and sheep which are raised around the property, plus idyllic riverside and forest walks. You can't ask for more if you want a relaxed afternoon or a breakfast treat away from the city.”

“Great food and drinks. The Guy Fawkes Inn is a medieval inn in York that stands in the shadow of York Minster, the very birthplace of the notorious plotter, Guido Fawkes. It is still lit by real gas lamps.”
