For some foreigners a trip to Cadbury World in Birmingham is unmissable. Factory, museum, activities, play area & chocolate heaven workshops. Although well within the cities boundaries these days in 1893 Cadbury family built a model village (Bourneville) for it's workers accommodation 6 miles south of Birmingham, to 'alleviate the evils of modern, more cramped living conditions'. By 1900, the estate included 313 cottages and houses set on 330 acres with it's many park & recreation areas reflecting the Cadburys concern with the health and fitness of their workforce. Ironic.
