Arts & Culture

From Canterbury's Cathedral to Margate's Dreamland, there is something for everyone within 40 minutes. Visit the 'loveliest castle in the world' at Leeds (where there's a 'Go Ape' adventure in the trees for those who aren't culture vultures). Head to gardens on our doorstep at Doddington Place or to world famous Sissinghurst in under an hour. Tour Kentish vineyards aplenty, like Chartham and Chapel Down or the Shepherd Neame Brewery at Faversham. Walk the Pilgrim's Way in Chaucer's footsteps or take a trip to Chatham Docks, step further back in back in time by exploring Charles Dicken's roots in Rochester or Charles I's stay at Restoration House (Rochester).
Good range of plays, ballet, comedy, musicals etc.

Great building over looking the sea. Interesting exhibitions. A flagship project to aid the regeneration of Margate that's worth supporting.

Cathedral, Castle and interesting high street - with independent retailers amongst the normal shops. Easy to reach by car from Lynsted. Or jump on the train from Teynham (only 8 mins from us) or Sittingbourne. Would highly recommend booking a visit to RESTORATION HOUSE - not open all year round but an absolute gem.

With big skies and acres of tufty marsh grasses this is a wonderful place to stroll and forget about your worries. A must for birdwatchers. Afterwards, head for the Three Mariners Pub for great beer and something delicious to eat.
