Sightseeing

Just simply walking the Mall is a great way to see all the famous monuments, such as the Capitol Building, Washington Monument, WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Don't forget to take in the the tidal basin so you can see the FDR Memorial, MLK, Jr Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial (my favorite!). Be sure to wear good walking shoes!

Just 2 blocks from the Capitol South Metro Station, the beautiful rotunda in the main reading room of the Jefferson Building is worth the visit. More information available at: https://www.loc.gov/

Overlooked by many people coming to the District, this is one of my favorite places to go. It is lovely and peaceful. And, there is free parking! More information available at: https://cathedral.org/

Arts & Culture

There is a lot to see here. A couple of my favorite exhibits include the First Ladies' dresses, the American flag that flew that inspired Francis Scott Key's writing of our national anthem, and the Greensboro, NC Woolworth's counter from the Civil Rights sit-ins. For more info on all the Smithsonian Museums, go to: https://www.si.edu/

Arena Stage is one of our premiere regional theaters. With three stages, there is always a play or musical going on. The 2017 Tony Winner for best musical, Dear Evan Hansen, premiered at Arena in the summer of 2015. Enjoy a show while you're here: http://www.arenastage.org/.
