There's a reason people travel from other countries and spend 3 or 4 hours queued up in line to eat here. It. Is. That. Good. And probably the most fun you'll ever have waiting in line. Swing by Granny's, pick-up some breakfast tacos, and then plant yourself in line by 9am.

Seriously good detroit-style pizza pan pizza with crispy cheese edges. Keep it classic and get the Detroiter (double-pepperoni), or go classy and get the Continental (arugula and proscuitto).

Newer outpost of an Austin classic serving solid tex-mex and fine margaritas. Fish tacos are especially good. Their tropically verdant patio feels like a romantic little bit of Mexico.

We love Lou's for the variety of great food, expansive patio with movie and trivia nights, and for preserving the Aztec warrior murals from the old Leal's Tire Shop, which occupied this site for decades before Lou's. Grab a frozen custard to-go for the walk home. You won't be disappointed.

Parks & Nature

The grand jewel of Austin is just couple blocks south of the house. Go for a run, rent a kayak or stand-up paddle board, fish, or just enjoy the scenery. The new boardwalk has killer downtown views. The east side of the trail is generally less crowded. If that's not your thing, head west toward Auditorium Shores for a more bustling scene.
