Winter or summer, there is nice indoor/outdoor water park if want to try something different. It's only 20-minutes away.

Incredible views with picturesque landscape from the moment you enter the park. Fall foliage is a must see if possible.

Beautiful University nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. There's plenty of near by wineries in the Harrisonburg area if the academic seen isn't your thing.

City advice

Don't miss

Shenandoah National Park

There are two fairly close National Park entrances you'll want to consider "Swift Run Gap" being the closest about 20-min drive away and "Thornton Gap." Both entrances This gives you lots of options to enjoy Skyline Drive, the view, trails, and visitor center and lodges (Big Meadows is really nice). There is a link to Shenandoah National Park and hiking trails on the national park web site and a handy mobile app for Shenandoah National Park as well.
What to pack

Bring a few essentials

Bug spray, flashlight, river shoes, matches, and lighter fluid. A starter supply of charcoal, bath soap, shampoo and conditioner are provider.
