Beaches

There are two beaches, a north beach and a south beach. The photo is from the north beach. There is a trail head in the upper in paved parking lot that takes you to the north beach. It’s a short walk, the south beach is much closer to the nice paved parking lot.

This is an amazing must see! You can walk to this beach (It is quite a hot sunny LONG walk), or pay for a ride from the local Hawaiian guides who will drive you there for a small fee (Highly recommend!). You are also able to drive yourself, but you will need 4-wheel drive to get there and it's pretty rough in the vehicle.

This is one of the most beautiful and quintessential Hawai’i spots on the island. Four wheel drive is needed as this has one of the steepest paved roads in the world. But once you are in valley you can enjoy the beautiful black sand beach or explore the valley a bit, which is the birthplace of King Kamehameha. You can see Hiilawe Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in the world from a distance, and you are likely to see a few wild horses as well. But please remember people still live and farm in the valley, be careful not to trespass.
