On the way to Velika Planina you pass a midieval Town Kamnik. It's got a small castle on the hill. The town centre square is very pretty with some local bars and Cafes. Worth taking a stroll, stopping for a drink.

Bring warm clothes into the mountains

In the mountains, you never how the weather will change. Even a hot summer day can turn into a storm or a strong wind starts to blow. To avoid feeling cold, always have an extra layer which you can put on yourself, such as a hoodie, jumper, windproof jacket etc.

Greeting in Slovenian mountains

As mentioned in the customs section, people like to greet each other in the mountains. The way to say hello to someone in Slovenian is 'Dober dan' (lit. translated as 'good day'). You might hear some people saying a shorter version of it 'dan', which you can then say back.

Meeting people on a narrow path, the person walking down the hill goes first, so the person walking uphill should step aside and give way to those coming down.
