Sightseeing

The second closest place to hike, and an excellent little trail off the beaten path. Watch out for poison ivy, though.

A fairly new and nice little area with a paved walking path around it. It's the closest 'hike' you'll find, but it's all flat. Some nice things about it.

A pleasant double lake with some nice fountains and fishing. Not much of a walking trail, but it's decent enough.

Pronounced like the car "chevy", this is the "Central Park" of Mascoutah. It has just about everything any park could provide. Baseball fields, playgrounds, picnic tables and shelters, good walking paths, disc golf, dog park, some historical things, and plenty of trees. I actually helped design the playground when I was on the Park Board many years ago.

In my own neighborhood, this delightful little park has a primitive ball field, a decent basketball court, some swings and playground equipment, some park benches and a small pavillion. But there are more oak trees than maple trees. Go figure!

Very nice place for hiking, and lots of little side trails off of the main path. Those are the best.

Not a particularly exciting trail, but not bad. No water, no benches, no shade, so it's not fun on a hot day, but the view isn't bad and there is some decent elevation for a nice workout.
