City advice

Getting around

Easy to get around on foot or by car

Local taxis are cheap, quick and easy to book. Bike and scooter hire also available. Or take a boat along the coast.
Ways to save

US and Jamaican dollars accepted

All shops and restaurants take credit cards (select US dollars as the currency when you pay). Both US and Jamaican dollars are accepted everywhere, but you get a better exchange rate if you pay in Jamaican.
Book before you go

Transport and transfers from the airports

Pre-book local drivers through us as they know the route, Treasure Beach can be tricky to find! They will collect you from your hotel or the arrivals hall at the airports.
What to pack

Pack for a hot climate

It's around 30 C most days so you will need to pack clothing accordingly. The nights are always warm except up in the hills where it can be chilly. Pack bug spray if you are bothered by mosquitoes. Bring sun lotion as it isn't always available locally.
Ways to save

Grocery shopping

There is a large supermarket in nearby Black River and a Megamart in Mandeville, 45 minutes drive. We have small local shops for basic provisions and great local roadside fruit and veg sellers. Our caretaker can also source fresh fish and lobster.
