Once a major shipping port serving the copper mining industry that thrived in the area for about 100 years.
Great pizza! Historic building and Famous “Fish Bowls”. You have to go to find out what those are. :). Great views of the Portage Canal and Bridge.

A moveable bridge. The middle section “lifts up” to allow the large boats go through. The bridge is the world's heaviest and widest double-decked vertical-lift bridge. It crosses the Portage Canal connecting Houghton and Hancock. This canal eventually reaches Lake Superior.

The Quincy Mine is an extensive set of copper mines located near Hancock, Michigan. The mine was owned by the Quincy Mining Company and operated between 1846 and 1945. You can actually tour the underground mine and visit the store.
