It's a well-signposted 10-minute walk up a steep hill to two safe lookout platforms -- one facing east towards the ocean and the other facing inland west. You'll get panoramic views of town and its sparkling crescent-shaped harbour. It's a great way to get the lay of the land right when you get to Bicheno. The walk is steep but family-friendly and it makes for a fantastic picnic spot. The trail is accessible from the centre of Bicheno. The walk is fairly short, well-signposted and straightforward, but it can be steep in some sections. A minimal level of fitness is required.

Denison Beach and the Porches Denison Beach just north of Bicheno has three car parks each offering lovely walks on the beach. The middle car park is next to the Denison Rivulet and provides the most car parking and easy access to the beach. From here it is about a 40-minute walk North to the Porches. These sandstone rock formations hang down from the cliffs resembling porches. The other rock formations to watch out for are in the water and only revealed at low tide. They are constantly changing and are quite remarkable in shape with some being perfectly round. Some are even big enough to sit in on a warm day. Denison Beach is unpatrolled so take care when swimming.
