Some say the best coffee in town is brewed in this very coffeehouse. But also, it's very community-oriented, a great place to get some work done, and has very friendly staff.

One of our oldest neighborhood dive bars for locals. A couple of pool tables, well lit, Budweiser on tap, lots of video poker. It's not for everyone, but it's old Portland through and through.

Absolutely excellent hip bar, catches most of the Portland Community College crowd. Lots of fun late night, always well attended, a great patio that fronts Killingsworth. Has house-infused liquors: the cinnamon whisky and habanero tequila are where it's at for the adventurous.

Neighborhoods
Full of fun, eclectic shops, and great bars. The Mississippi street fair is the closest thing Portland has to Mardi Gras festivities. We love drinks at Interurban (cozy, wood-paneled, two-story bar with a lovely patio for summer), ¿Por Qué No? (first location of the local taco chain), Lovely's Fifty Fifty award-winning pizza on thin crust whole wheat sourdough and Mee-sen, a great spot for thai street food (Britta is obsessed with their Khao Soi Gai.) North Mississipi St is also home to a lot of great live music, Mississippi Studios is a great venue worth a visit. We also love shopping at the rebuilding center, a great spot for salvaged building supplies, and recommend walking through.
