The weather is always warm in Darwin even when it rains so light clothing is good the only jacket you will need is when you leave your place for the plane.

check out the bus services if you don`t want to hire a car
Also taxi`s are reasonable also as most places close by or their are plenty of tour companies in darwin cbd to take you on bus tours to different destinations. Their is also a hop on hop off double decker bus tour or in the waterfront their is a free shuttle check out darwin waterfront website for details on were and times it goes around

maybe easier if solo to go on a bus tour as theese a quite a distance but well worth a visit and remeber to bring your togs
