This is a small french bakery and cafe, though they sell wonderful quiches, sandwiches etc for breakfast and lunch. Genuine French atmosphere, you feel like you're in a provincial French town cafe. Lovely.

Parks & Nature

If you fancy some exercise and want some fine views of the city and beyond this is your place. It's like being in the hills of Scotland but right in the city! If you don't fancy the 823 feet climb then there's loads of other paths to enjoy the beautiful nature the whole park has to offer. You can finish at Holyrood palace and have a cup of tea and a scone in their delightful cafe.

Entertainment & Activities

a brilliant cinema with several screens, with diverse choice of films. Mostly steering away from the block busters and a wonderful choice of world films. You can also eat very nice food in the cafe and take your drink into the cinema.

Everything Else

This is slightly further out in Morningside, but not more than a 15 minute walk. This is a remarkable and very old coaching inn pub, with a truly remarkable selection of whiskeys and good beers etc. It is a quiet, no music/no fruit machines/no TV pub where you can have a proper conversation, read a paper and your often served peanuts or sandwiches too. Full of fascinating memorabilia, copper pots, trumpets and other strange objects. Most unusual and a must-see if you like proper pubs.
