Winter Trails Pieni Karhunkierros (12 km) Pieni Karhunkierros Trail is located in the southernmost part of the park. It begins and ends at Juuma parking area. The trail is very demanding. The trail markings in winter time are wooden sticks that have a green reflecting sticker. The trail base is not maintained in wintertime. The trail has three hanging bridges, duckboards and stairs. Natural Features of Riisitunturi National Park Riisitunturi - Hanging Bogs and Spruce Forests Characteristic to Riisitunturi are the hills and the hanging bogs. On the felltops, you can find the most impressive scenery over the Lakes Kitkajärvet, with the hills and fells in the background. Most of the area is 300 metres above the sea level. There are thirteen tops more than 400 metres above the sea level, the highest of which are the both tops of Riisitunturi Fell. Fish frm the clean waters of Northeast Finland. Kuusamo is famous for their great water systems where the water is clean and there is plenty of fish. These waters are the home of the renowned "Kitkan viisas," a small and tasty vendace called "the Sage of Lake Kitkajärvi."

Kuusamo is a perfect place for fishing in every season. From late autumn to spring there is ice-fishing, and in summer and autumn there is trolling or spin fishing, or you can cast a fly, fish with hook and line, catch fish with nets, or take part in seine fishing. There are wide areas of woodland with untouched lakes and pools in the Kuusamo region, mostly located near good roads. Many fishing sites are equipped with especially built lean-tos which can freely be used on fishing trips.
