Wonderful pastries and bread, but their sit-down meals are excellent too and few people think to go there for dinner so it's a nice, quiet dinner spot.

I think these donuts are better than Voodoo! Crisp on the outside, cakey and tender on the inside.

Wonderful ice cream in really funky flavors. The line is usually ridiculous so skip the line and go in the west entrance to buy a pint instead. No line and you get more ice cream.

The sushi is a little underwhelming but I have lived in Japan and no other restaurant has gotten ramen as authentic as this place. Try the Chicken Paitan Ramen. The wait for food can be long.

My husband's family is from Virginia and he thinks this food cart's fried chicken is the best he's tasted. The fresh, hand-made rolls are also amazing.

The quality of their other food can be a little variable, but they always serve up the best waffles I've ever eaten.

The best vegetarian/vegan food in Portland I think. Their home-made almond milk had cow-milk, red-meat eating me and my husband begging for more.

The food is only so-so by Portland standards, but it's so much fun to get food and beer and watch a movie at the same time that this place is worth a visit.

Essentials

I can't get groceries anywhere else. Food from any other market tastes bland to me now. They have wonderful, locally sourced produce and a great butcher.

Arts & Culture

I actually like this Powell's a little better than the downtown one because it's more navigable and I think the staff makes better recommendations.
