Food Scene

It is a pub owned by Rick Stein, with a lovely food menu (not massively overpriced) and great beer (go for Tribute or Proper Job!).

It is not the fanciest of pubs, but it is just 5 minutes walk from Kegyn, and serves an affordable and nice menu of modern pub food (plenty of pizzas, mexican etc) plus a great carvery. It can get quite busy on summer evenings and afternoons, so maybe worth booking. I'd recommend going for one of the keg beers!

This is a lesser known cafe owned by Rick Stein. Despite the name, it has a full restaurant menu, and is much more affordable than the signature Seafood restaurant. Obviously, I'd recommend the seafood! And best to book!

This has my favourite pasties in the area. It is a little difficult to park (if two of you are in the car it is sometimes possible to wait around). I go for traditional steak or steak and stilton. Also not to be missed, the Saffron Cake, which is like a tealoaf, but spiced with saffron (and bright yellow!)

Drinks & Nightlife

This has a good selection of ales and is a 15-20 minute walk along the coast path. Note the Harlyn Inn (listed under restaurants) is far closer!

Parks & Nature

This area of the coast is simply the most stunning, but also the quietest and most remote. You can see for miles around including the Camel Estuary, the Doom Bar (a sandbank, not just a beer) and Padstow.

There are great views if you walk out to Trevose Head, either from Kegyn (probably 30-45 minutes), or drive. The lighthouse tour is good fun and the views in both directions are stunning..

There are stunning views around here too, which the BBC seem to have made great use of in the recent Poldark series.

The indoor tropical biomes are really unique and a fantastic experience if you've never been before. Great for rainy days too.

Arts & Culture

King Arthur's castle is perched in a stunning location just outside the village of Tintagel. It is a fair drive to get there (the roads are pretty long and winding), but worth the trip. If you go, I'd recommend a trip to nearby Port Isaac too, which is probably better for food and drink than Tintagel itself.

Lovely cathedral, dominating the skyline of the small city of Truro. A good rainy day activity.
