Tough, but worth the views! Railway tracks are your stairs to ascend hundreds of feet to the top of an erupted cinder cone volcano. The hike is steep and there is no break from the sun (bring extra water!). Once you get to the top you can see the marina, hanauma bay, sandy beach, and if you come during the right season, whales!

Beautiful beach and less touristy. Be careful of the waves though, they break hard. This is the local body surfing and boogie boarding spot.

Arts & Culture

The last king of Hawaii built this palace, now museum. A must see if you would like to learn about the Hawaiian monarchy. Self guided audio tours let you go at your own pace and there is much to learn about the royal family. Highly recommend the video introduction across from where you buy admission tickets.

Awesome museum that teaches you all about the history of Polynesian cultures, the Hawaiians, the geology, the flora and fauna of Hawaii, the monarchy, and how to navigate the stars like the Polynesian wayfinders. Spend the entire day there and you will not be disappointed!

Sightseeing

When your lei is wilting or you no longer want to wear it, go lei Duke! His open arms are where you go to donate your lei. Duke was a hero of Hawaii and his statue is quite the sight in the middle of Waikiki.
