Guidebook for Varkala

Sightseeing
One of the places you should never miss. The place is best to visit during new year's and peak tourist seasons, as it lit with lights and music and laughing and crowded people. Has a lot of restaurants on the rock. Some of the restaurants are amazing in terms of food and ambience. But costly too. The view from the cliff makes the place a hundred time worth it.

A simple boat ride from the back of our house, is all you need to reach the resplendent Ponnumthuruth Island. The name itself translates to 'Golden Island' because it is rumoured that the queens of the Travancore Royal Family used to hide gold and other precious ornaments here. Go here to escape the dull routine of daily life and embrace the languorous lifestyle of the locals. Located amidst coconut groves, over a century old and adored by all visitors, is the historic Shiva Parvathi Temple. Another fun fact is that the entire island is actually temple property, under the purview of our own family trust.
