Autun used to be called Augustodunum and was founded as the roman city by Emperor August. The first weeks of august there are perfomances about the Roman life in the old open amfitheatre.

On the beautiful mountain of Beuvray, with it's beautifully formed trees, you find the museum of Bibracte and some of the excavations of the former Gaule city.

Great for a swim, to relax (in a hamac) between the trees, to sail, to walk around it (14km) and with restaurants and a good pizzeria.

Balance yourself secured between the trees of the lovely climbing parc Acrogivry (just one hour drive in the direction of Chalon-sur-Saône) Givry is also an excellent wine village.

Lovely castle in a beautiful area with cliffs on one side, wine fields on the other and the waterfall of "cirque du bout du monde" close by. Don't forget to see the immense roof made of heavy stones of the markethall in Nolay.
