Limoges itself is also worth a trip, as it is not a very large city & the sights can be seen in one day. In the ancient la Cite is the Cathedral of St Etienne, and there is a pleasant area alongside the River Vienne, with picnic spots & children’s play area

Le Labyrinthe, Gueret. Giant maze (supposedly the largest in the world!) covers two hectares and borders a 3,000 hectare forest. There are also picnic areas in the park and giant games (including a giant chess board with pieces). Outside Gueret there is a wolf sanctuary, Les Loupes de Chabrières
