Sometimes the workshop is open for visitors but it is not a rule, usually any train related events are organised on weekends. If you are a fan of steam train you can visit kingston Flyer Cafe and Bar that is the remain of the old train station.

Important info for car users
Drive from Queenstown to Kingston goes trough alpine single lane road, sometimes it can be very dangerous, so please drive safe. If there are vehicles behind your car, please let them pass. Make sure you pull over in a safe spot.
We have one self-service petrol station in Kingston. The nearest petrol stations are Lumsden (50km away), Queenstown (40km away), so make sure you have enough fuel for your drive.
