Relax @ 54

Local town
A 10 minute walk will see you in the charming village of Pottsville. If you'd like to eat out we highly recommend Izakaya Potts (Japanese), Tongs Thai. Okky (fish and chips) or Potty Mouth Pizza. On the way into Pottsville from Relax @ 54 there's a small shopping centre with Foodworks, bakery, Potty Mouth Pizza, pharmacy, bottle shop and the Pottsville Tavern. In town you'll find IGA, a bakery, greengrocer, Tongs Thai, Okky, sushi, pharmacy, health food shop and cafes. There are also some lovely little boutiques worth browsing. Head to the creek for a swim (you can go in at the end of our street where Victoria Avenue meets Overall Drive) or follow it down to the beach. The creek and beach are both terrific for exploring and swimming.

A 5 minute drive north of Pottsville will take you to Cabarita Beach. More beaches (one of the favorite for surfers up and down the coast), cafes and local shops. You'll also find Woolworths, butchers, bakeries, a pharmacy, bike shop (in case you want to hire) and gift/boutique stores. We recommend the sushi across the road from Woolworths.

Bangalow is a charming little village about 10 minutes west of Byron Bay, and about a 40 minute drive south of Relax @ 54. You'll find cafes and gorgeous little shops to wander through. The biggest attraction is the Bangalow markets, held on the 4th Sunday of each month. You can easily spend the day at the market with a huge range of stalls - the vast majority of which are locally made handcrafts, clothing, homewares and food.

Byron Bay, a 30 minute drive south of Relax @ 54 is famous for local beaches, shops and...famous people. Previously known for it's alternate and hippy vibe, it's now a busy and extremely popular tourist destination. If you want to avoid the busy town centre, check out The Farm which is just off the highway and home to Three Blue Ducks Restaurant and an outlet for our favorite bakery - The Bread Social. Wander around The Farm to meet some pigs, chickens and check out the nut plantation and food garden. There's a terrific kid's playground and you can buy gourmet take-away food supplies and cookbooks as well.

Home of our favorite gelato bar Gelato and Co - they've won stacks of awards and for good reason! Tweed Art Gallery is a must visit while you're here. You'll also find markets, funky little shops and cute cafes at Murwillumbah.

Home to Harvest Cafe and Harvest Restaurant https://harvestnewrybar.com.au/ and some cute little shops - a visit here makes for a lovely lazy morning. At Newrybard you'll also find the Macadamia Castle (a great destination to take children for the petting zoo) where you can spend a good couple of hours and take home some tasty macadamia treats.

20 minutes north of Pottsville you'll find the coastal town of Kingscliffe - a must visit. Lovely local shops, restaurants and cafes, great swimming beach and creek. Gorgeous beach front park with bbq's and covered seating. Visit Oxley and Moss for clothing, homewares, accessories to take home a beautiful memory of your trip. Kingscliff Hotel does great 'pub food', live music and has a play area for children. Cudgeon Headland Surf Club also does great meals, live music and has amazing ocean views. Choux Box and Mockingbird cafes are my top picks but there are plenty of options. Taverna restaurant and Pheobe's Mediterranean are both very popular. Wander the full length of Marine Parade to find boutiques, a local book shop, cinema, cafes and restaurants and homeware shops. Markets are held across the area - check out https://whatsontweed.com.au/ to find out what's on.

Near the base of Mount Warning, Mavis' Kitchen is a 45 minute drive from Relax @ 54 and totally worth the effort. Check their website https://maviseskitchen.com.au/ as their hours and menu changes. During holidays they often have breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They source their ingredients from their onsite garden (which you can wander through) or from local suppliers. They also sell a range of take-home products. We highly recommend their shared platters as a starter. We've always had a great dining experience, no matter the time of day. The drive is beautiful and you can always burn off the calories with a walk at Mount Warning!

Just south of Kingscliff you'll find Salt Village. There are shops, restaurants and cafes and a park. Favorite eating options here range from fish & chips, a tavern with children's playground, the French Patisserie cafe (coffee and petit fours anyone?) Salt Bean cafe for a cooked breakfast or lunch, to Bombay Cricketers Club (modern Indian), Mexican, Thai and Seafood. The gelato bar has you covered for dessert. Shopping includes Witchery, Sunburn and IGA. Don't miss out on some local gems - take a left at the gelato bar and walk through then turn right to find a terrific local jeweller, Meraki Blue (clothing and homewares) and day spa.
