While Minneapolis has many exceptional dining experiences - seriously - one of our favorite spots is David Fongs, a Chinese restaurant that opened in 1958 and has apparently not changed anything ever since. The food is mediocre, but the Mai Thais are strong and the Karaoke is everything you could hope for in a hometown bar. Karaoke is on Tuesdays & Thursdays, featuring the "Regulars" type of crowd who really get into it. Just have a drink, hang out and make sure to pick a song you know.

A more upscale restaurant. It's small, but incredible. Google it for the menu

This is probably our favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. Google the menu. We prefer the bar or outdoor patio. Great wine & cocktails with an even better beer list. This place is not for meat-free diets

Family-owned Greek quick-serve restaurant. They have weird hours, so look ahead, but it's great and will ruin all gyros for you forever. Get the spicy gyro.

Great Thai Food. We usually enjoy their take-out on a lazy evening, but their lunch buffet seems to be popular with people in the neighborhood.

It's hard to explain this Can Can Wonderland. It's basically mini-golf + brewpub + food + drinks... pretty ridiculous, but ready for a long wait.

Nine Mile Creek is 15 miles long and runs from Minnetonka to the Minnesota River in Bloomington. We like to catch the trails down either by 98th street of 106th street where there is easy access. While minutes from our home and the city, these trails feel secluded and serene.

Lake Nokomis is just a few miles down Hwy 77 and is great for walking or riding your bike for exercise. In the summer it's a great place to rent a kayak or sit on one of the beaches and people watch. Grab a bite to eat at Sandcastle which is located on the main beach.

This is our personal favorite lake in the Twin Cities. It has a great walking path around it that is approximately 3 miles that is lined with some very impressive homes. It has several beaches to relax and you can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, etc. During the summer season (memorial day to labor day) the Lake Harriet Bandshell has free nightly concerts at 7:30. It's a great place for a picnic.

Lake Calhoun is bikable from Lake Harriet and is a great place to spend an afternoon. You'll see people enjoying everything from sailing to volleyball. This is where I'd go to rent a paddle board for an afternoon.

The Walker is a great place to take in the arts. Even if you don't want to spend the day inside, take an afternoon and walk around the sculpture gardens where you will see the iconic cherry on a spoon.
