The Outlet trail is accessible from several spots in and around Penn Yan. The Outlet was once used to run steam ships between Keuka and Seneca Lakes and was a part of the Erie Canal system. Website is nysparks.com/parks/142/ Watkins Glen is roughly half an hour drive from Penn Yan (27 miles) and the Park can be found right in town on the West side of Route 14. The Gorge at the park is beautiful. You could easily spend an entire day hiking up it. Beautiful waterfalls.
