Neighborhoods

Leith used to be a town and port on it's own but it was so prosperous Edinburgh took it over. It's a vibrant place full of lovely bars cafes, restaurants and quirky shops. The leith shore is picturesque and we get the odd cruise shop docking at Ocean Terminal where the Royal yacht Britannia resides. Well worth a visit

Portobello is a bus ride away (around six stops) It's a lovely beach with bars cafes restaurants and shops. A favourite bar of mine is The Guild of Foresters. If you want to go a little further north Berwick and Dunbar on the East Coast is lovely accessible by bus

Sightseeing

The Royal Mile and Old Town is around a 15 minute walk from our house. On the way you pass Holyrood Palace, The Scottish Parliament. The back drop is Arthur Seat an extinct Volcano set in parkland with Lochs and wildlife. Climb to the top and see the whole city below you (45 mins to an hour) to the top. Carry on up the Royal Mile to The High Street Castle and Princess Street beyond.
