Food Scene

Cafes, Restaurants and Pubs you might want to check out if you're feeling hungry.
Just across the road from my place and a short walk Eastwards you’ll find the Beach Deck. What’s good about it are the views, you can look out to sea either from their deck or inside. The food’s ok, the service can be hit or miss, but I’d still recommend trying it out.

If you fancy a posh nosh breakfast - Avocado on sour bread, or just a healthy English breakfast, this might be for you. Probably best to book a table as it’s often full up, also please check its opening times.

One of my favourites... Healthy food, and extra friendly service. No meat served here so don't expect bacon, but still loads of tasty meals. Simply Patisserie in South Street - 112 South St, Eastbourne BN21 4LZ - Food type: Healthy, non-meat, Mediterranean salads, smoothies, paninis, pies, quiches, salads, vegetarian breakfast, baked potatoes, and cakes. If you want strong coffee make it clear to them. I often go to Simply Patisserie in South Street, not to be confused with Patisserie Valerie in the Town Centre – which is also good. If you’re not in need of meat and are looking for something healthy then this might just be the ticket.

High Tea at the Hydro The Hydro has a 1930s feel to it, and along with its large lawned garden, conservatory and high tea, this is a must place to experience.

This is one of two cafes in Gildridge park, which is near the town centre. Priced around £10/head, you'll get both quality and quantity. I’d recommend the cream tea, but lots of their other offerings are good too.

Another popular ice cream parlour. I find it a bit touristy and rough around the edges, but if you’re in the neighbourhood it’s worth checking out. Also, for most people, their ice creams in a large glass options are more than enough to share between two.

Although the listing above says The Ram Inn, the place I was trying to let you know about is The Beanstalk Tea Garden. This is a tea garden in someone's house and is off the beaten track along a track that low-slung cars should be wary of. Check online if it's likely to be open but on sunny days it's so worth a visit if possible.

City advice

Getting around

Seaside Road, Pevensey Rd and Bourne St. are a bit rough

Not rough compared to major cities, just a little less congenial than the rest of Eastbourne.
