Nice easy trails for all ages, and plenty of rescued local wildlife, including bear, wolves, river otters, as well as heritage farm animals. Great experience for kids and adults, too! Inexpensive entry fee.

The iconic Blue Ridge Parkway is a must to drive. This is the headquarters where you can get maps, see some exhibits and start some hikes. Not very strenuous near the center, but the Mountain to Sea Trail is quite extensive if you are looking for longer hikes, so this is still your place either way. No Charge!
