A very large community garden that beautifully combines rhodos with natural bush forest. Lovely pond with ducks too. Various walks that wind around the gardens. A short drive or about 40 minutes walk from our house.

A wonderful, memorable walk. In my view, the Grand Canyon walk is the best in the Blue Mountains. A five minute drive from our house, it takes about two hours to complete and has recently been beautifully renovated. Every 50 metres or so another superb view opens before you of waterfalls, sheer cliffs and overhanging escarpments, ferny glades and deep ravines. A must if you're fit enough to do the steepish walk out (equivalent to 102 floors, according to my fitbit). Because of the renovations it's otherwise an easy walk to do. Happy to drive you to the start if you don't have a vehicle.

Windswept Cave, a remarkable, large wind-eroded cave. Anvil Rock is also nearby. Right at the end of Hat Hill Road. It's a reasonably good dirt road much of the way. About 15-20 minutes drive from Blackheath.

Shopping

A large place in an old cinema. It has lots of stalls with generally good quality bric-a-brac (lots of australiana) and some antiques.

Arts & Culture

An art glass studio in a small industrial space. With any luck you will see some pieces being blown. Beautiful stuff but fairly pricey. They also have a small shop near the corner of the highway and Govetts Leap Road that has irregular hours (mostly weekends) and an attractive front window display.
