Parks & Nature

Easy bush walk to hike o. It is an ecological island meaning there is a fence around a large area to stop cats, rats, stoats etc. so there are a lot of birds in there. Good to go early morning for bird song and there are visits by Sirocco the Kakapo or kiwi releases which are really magic. Check their web page for info.

Copied from their website: Te Awamutu's cinema, the Regent Theatre, is renowned throughout the country for being one of a very small number of high-quality provincial cinemas. In addition to an all-round quality movie experience there is also an impressive collection of movie memorabilia lining walls and foyer, taking one back to the early days of New Zealand cinema. The Regent Theatre has been in business since 1932 (see history). It has been managed since 1974 by movie enthusiast Allan Webb, the sole exhibitor and proprietor. Mr Webb has a real passion for the theatre—in addition to running his business he has published works on the history of regional cinema and specific theatres.
