This wind swept peninsula on southend of the island feels other worldly. A twisted forest opens up into a huge meadow that abruptly crashes into the sound. Spend up 3 hours hiking this magical coastal trail.

Neighborhoods

Head to the Lopez Ferry Landing and walk on the free inner island ferry for a day of shopping in what Lopez Islanders call the "big city of Friday Harbor." Friday Harbor is more typical of a coastal tourist trap but is a great place to visit during you San Juan Island adventure.

You will need to take your car to explore Orcas as it is the largest island and its village is in the center of the island. Like Friday Harbor, there are many shops and cafes to explore. We recommend hiking Mt. Constitution which is the highest peak in the San Juan Islands.

City advice

Getting around

Ferry reservations, what you need to know !

The biggest hurdle to traveling to the islands is understanding the ferry schedule, link below. We recommend making a reservation but it is not necessary. You cannot make a reservation back to Anacortes from Lopez so we call the ferry landing for you so you know what time to show up. https://theedenwild.com/getting-here/
Customs and culture

The make sure you do the Lopez Wave!

Because we have such a small island population we all wave at each other as we pass in cars. Make you wave as you pass someone!
Getting around

Bicycle Rental at the Ferry Landing-Walk on Ferry!

You don't have to bring your car to Lopez though it sure helps to see the whole island. Many visitors leave their cars at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and walk on the boat. This helps avoid long ferry lines. We have rental bikes right at the ferry landing that you can rent and ride. https://theedenwild.com/explore/
Don't miss

Farmers Market across the street all summer long!

Make sure to visit our Farmers Market every Saturday during the summer. Its just across the street.
