Finding "Rote Bar" could start as a challenge for you. The supposed bar entrance is closed. You have to do a double take and ring a silver bell. Up next an old-fashioned waiter with a black and white suit and a bow-tie opens the door and invites you in. In this moment you might doubt your outfit choice but don't panic! Rote Bar is quite a fancy bar, but still there are all kinds of people there, including a lot of young adults. The small bar is kept in red and black and the dim lights make you feel very comfortable. The smooth lounge-like music does its part. But first of all, good drinks and cocktails make a bar night really perfect. And the cocktails at Rote Bar are very good!

"Bitter & Zart" is a culinary highlight in Frankfurt. It consists of a chocolaterie and a café – both in the same building. When entering I always feel like I'm about to step into a fancy Parisian café (although I haven't been to Paris yet) since you enter through a fancy heavy pink curtain and the walls are decorated with beautiful and romantic pictures – obviously I think that this is what Paris looks like. If you go to the left you might end up spending a lot of money for chocolate since this is where you find the chocolaterie. Everything is beautifully arranged and decorated from the chocolate bars to the candy to the filled chocolates.

Besides being a great choice for weekend brunches (better reserve a table for larger groups) and dinners throughout the week, I like the fact that Langosch offers vegan and "regular" dishes, which is found quite rarely in Frankfurt up to now. Vegan options include wines and of course soy/almond milk for your coffee- as well as vegan cakes and desserts.

Fresh produce from local farmers, freshly baked bread, homemade jam and many other treats are available only here, every Thursday and Saturday. And where people come to shop, they also come to eat: Many stalls offer snacks and drinks, from grilled sausage to Chardonnay. While the food is a little more pricey than in a supermarket, the quality makes it worthwhile. Most places in Frankfurt make you feel a little posh, with its busy street, modern architecture and well-dressed people. Don’t miss out on the wonderful atmosphere!

Kaffee Wacker's has witnessed two World Wars and has been serving and selling coffee to Frankfurters for many decades. The Wackers import hand picked coffee beans from Africa and Latin America and offer different qualities of coffee. You can smell the freshly roasted coffee from all neighbouring streets. Their roasting process is long, providing an intense aroma and taste. Buying coffee from Wacker's is included in the weekly shopping list of many Frankfurters! Locals queue here after lunch to drink an espresso and have a chat before heading back to the office. The friendly personnel can help you choose the best coffee selection depending on your taste and guide you through the different mix

In the area of Old Sachsenhausen you will have the chance to get to know the Apfelweinculture (apple wine, do not mistake it with apple cider). Drink it pure, sour (mixed with sparkling water) or sweet (mixed with orange juice)! Fichtekränzi is one of the oldest restaurants of its kind. Furnished with long tables and benches, Fichtekränzi brings to life the community-style spirit which is so traditional in Germany. People of all kinds sit together, regardless of their social status, ethnicity or beliefs. In Fichtekränzi the mood is enthusiastic – people speak loudly (occasionally you will hear someone singing) and enjoy themselves around typical Frankfurter dishes.
