Hermitage is hidden in the hills across our terrace. Hike up and ring the bell so that we know you made it! Signs in town lead the way here and to Castel Menardo ruins, also seen from our terrace.

Fantastic agristurismo...great when included in a day out to either the Hermitage of Santo Spirito a Maiella or the Hermitage of St Bartolomeo in Legio.

This beautiful church houses a holy relic, an impression of face of Jesus on a linen shroud which is on display above the alter for all to see. Tourist buses bringing the faithful flock here.

Pizza - only at night!
Even at a restaurant called a pizzeria - pizza is considered a nightime meal and the wood ovens are not on till evenings- in the afternoons you will be offered what non locals would consider dinner.
This is beginning to change but so far this is more often the rule for pizza!

Pretty firmly set - lunch from about 12:30 to 2:30 (arrival times) in most restaurants.
Dinner in most restaurants begins at 7:30
Reservations are the norm - especially on weekends and in summer they are necessary.

Shopping times
Many of the towns stick to the old ways. Stores close between 1 and 4
So get an early start and you can shop with the locals or even better eturn at 5 and you can stroll with the locals on their evening passegiata :-)
Even in the cities of Chieti and Pescara there will be some closure - however things are changing and many chains are remaining open.
Malls such as Megalo in Chieti are open straight thru...oh and that is one place you can get pizza any time of the day as well!
