Unique and authentic Indian Food- this place has Indian food like no other I have tasted. Very different from what I expected but delicious. Tucked next to the Cedar Cultural Center sits Malabari Kitchen, a cozy little restaurant that serves South Indian food with big flavor. The only restaurant in Minnesota specializing in Kerala cuisine, Malabari Kitchen’s home style cooking features a rich array of spices and focuses on using only natural ingredients.

The place is exactly the three things I love about East African restaurants: extremely friendly staff and environment, good on the budget, and tasty food. Stop in to experience an African-style home-cooked dish in a cozy setting of wood finishes and earth tone colors. Hospitable owner. The food is great and the prices are incredible.

An Asian bakery/fortune-cookie factory. When I’m feeling hungry and I need quick, affordable, and most importantly, delicious food, I immediately head to one of my favorite spots on the West Bank, Keefer Court Bakery & Cafe. I really like their pastry puffs. They are a cheap quick snack (meat options only) and they will heat it in the microwave for you. Try the red bean sesame ball! Yum! The name may not invoke thoughts of tender meat filled buns, warm soups, or expertly decorated cakes, but Keefer Court is an impressive shop serving up Hong Kong style food and baked goods.

Authentic Ethiopian food is served on centerpiece platters over injera accompanied by plates of more injera rolled up like so many dish towels. To eat you simply tear off pieces of injera and scoop up bites of food! They have a traditional menu that incorporates beef, lamb and chicken, but they also have good vegetarian options. I really like the Fule appetizer, which is spiced fava beans with French bread. OPEN UNTIL 2AM EVERY DAY.
