Parks & Nature

It's big and beautiful. Has a cafe, a restaurant, a lake, a lovely Victorian glass Palm House. Find the Fairy Glen, the old iron bridge and so much more. An easy, pleasant walking distance from my house.

You have to see this beautiful place to believe it. Only a short (very frequent) train or bus ride from the centre of Liverpool. Takes about 40 green, leafy minutes to get to W Kirby. Hilbre is 3 small islands which gain in size and interest as you progress across the wide golden sands at low tide.. Free to visit. Best in spring, autumn and summer. Take a picnic, suncream and water on a hot day and prepare to chill out after a gorgeous 3 mile walk (to the farthest point) + 3 miles back (takes about 1 hour. Watch the high tide times at Hilbre. Info available on the beach and online and off you go! West Kirby is a lovely place with the marina and the White Lion pub, which has the best beer garden!

About 4-5 minutes walk from my house is the most delightful, friendly, authentic Italian restaurant and bar. (outside space at the front) They also do takeaways at very low prices. Or check out the owners' other place, Cafe Orro, only about 200 yards further along. Great, cool space for excellent coffee and lovely food with a very nice outside space at the back.

One word. Unique. Liverpool's best known veggie secret. Loved by all. Up a few stairs but well worth the climb. Food and ambience unlike any other. Excellent value. Try it or miss out.

Everything Else

Nothing from the outside, in fact just a pile of Victorian fireplaces and old doors. (Hey, don't knock it!) But once upstairs you can browse at length with no one to bother you around all the lovely old bits and pieces, furniture and bric-a-brac from yesterday. Vintage lovers heaven. Affordable prices.
