Best coffee in town, quirky interior (it doubles up as an antique shop -everything you see is on sale) and fantastic veggie food.

Award winning breakfast. Yum! Usually very busy, so it's very likely you won't find a table. But it's just 2 minutes' walk from our place so I'd suggest you check it out and then, if it's too busy you can just backtrack for 30 seconds and go to Salvage Cafe, or one of the other local cafes.

A sandwich shop and breakfast cafe. Food is not spectacular but it's perfectly OK and cheap. There is a secret heated patio garden at the back - a real gem!

Truly unique restaurant serving southern Indian (Goan) food, with colourful decor, family photos and reggae music... nothing like your typical 'faux colonial' Indian restaurant in the UK. My friend who lived in Mumbai with an Indian family for a year said she'd never had such amazing food since she returned from India 20 years ago. This restaurant is very popular so it's virtually impossible to find a table without a booking. So do ring them earlier in the day (or perhaps a day or two in advance) to book.

If you like ales, then you definitely have to go there. The widest choice of ales from different producers - there's no other place like it in Brighton!
